Retiro de Whistle Pig @ 22 West

Ubicado en el álamo y los pinos, esta cabaña se encuentra en una ubicación perfecta para alejarse de todo y disfrutar de senderos privados en el lado tranquilo de la División Continental. Nuestro sendero Elk Run está lleno de motos de nieve para recreación no motorizada y es una excelente ruta de senderismo en el verano. Steamboat es de aproximadamente una hora de distancia. La configuración está aislada. La terraza es un lugar en el que pasarás mucho tiempo mirando la vista. Los Marmots, (cerdos Whistle), a menudo harán una aparición. Abunda la fauna, alces, ciervos, alces, pronghorn, águilas, colibríes y muchas otras criaturas viven aquí. El lugar es muy cómodo y limpio. Este es un lugar tranquilo para relajarse. Nuestras instrucciones aquí son mejores ya que otros métodos no son confiables.
La terraza del Retiro del Cerdo Whistle ofrece vistas al bosque y a los arbustos de chokecherry donde se posan las aves de muchas especies. La casa es acogedora y cálida. La cocina está totalmente equipada. Hay una cama queen, un sofá cama y un colchón inflable. El baño está completamente amueblado con una ducha / bañera, inodoro y lavabo para él y para ella. Hay una lavadora y secadora.
Todo esto con muchas oportunidades recreativas aquí mismo. Routt National Forest y Mount Zirkel Wilderness con 100 millas de senderos y más de 70 lagos se encuentra justo arriba de la carretera si quieres conducir o puedes caminar desde la cabaña en la propiedad.
22 West Cabins ofrece oportunidades de senderismo aquí. Echa un vistazo a nuestro sendero llamado "Narnia" que te lleva a donde dos cascadas se funden en el Roaring Ditch desde aproximadamente mayo hasta aproximadamente la primera semana de julio. El camino a la cabaña es privado.

Deb was fantastic! She made sure we knew where we were going as we arrived, provided snow shoes and directions on where to go. We ended up needing a baking dish which she promptly brought to us. We had most everything utensil wise. Really the only thing that needed improvement was the mattress. It was extremely uncomfortable so we opted to stay on the couches instead. The cabin was very clean when we arrived. We loved that our stay contributed to animal conservation.

Deb was an amazing host, with great local knowledge and advice that made our fly fishing trip even better. The cabin's location and view from the hillside are stunning. The cabin was clean and well kept. Would return on a future trip.

We have made numerous trips to Walden over the past 35 years so we are very familiar with the area and enjoy the wildness of the region.The Whistle Pig is nice lodging with good amenities and is clean. If you are looking for an authentic cabin, this is a modular with cabin-looking siding. The interior layout is a bit clunky, and the table-island is very awkward as the chairs provided are too short and the entire island is too big for the kitchen space. The check-in process was a little rough since our host didn't communicate via cell, and there was no service for internet on the county road we were on for us to check the VRBO messages she sent. When we arrived (once we got our signals straightened out) we had to wait as she headed up to give us the rundown of the wildlife dangers (which is fine, but as outdoorspeople we are very familiar with the area and the cautions, but we sat through the educational spiel). I made the mistake of asking how we would lock the door as we were not going to be in the cabin much, and we were informed not to bother, the host had a key in a basket somewhere, and that we were at the end of a dirt road and not to worry. Not too comfortable leaving doors unlocked with our belongings inside but not a lot we could do there.This area of Walden is less enjoyable as there is less wildlife than closer around Walden and around Gould. Would not stay again.

Great getaway

Hosts were very responsive and sweet. When it snowed they came and plowed the entire drive for us! Snowshoeing around the property was a blast. Beautiful view! 10/10 would recommend.

Perfect fall retreat

Tucked away in the aspen, this spot is ideal for getting some solitude and leaf peeping time. Major pluses: the deck, the bears eating berries nearby, and a super cool griddle to make breakfast quesadillas.

Spectacular

This cabin, stocked with everything you could need, was so welcoming and in a beautiful remote setting. The host was very friendly and welcomed us warmly. I highly recommend this cabin for singles, couples, families, and all nature lovers. Look forward to future visits.

Awesome setting, wonderful cabin, great time.

The cabin was well appointed and exceeded our expectations. The wildlife was abundant and amazing and made for a great setting. The hummingbirds were fun to watch and provided entertainment from early morning until late in the evening. Deb was a great host and a fun gal to visit with.

Lovely cabin!!

The check in about process was super simple. We enjoyed how secluded the cabin was and would love to check it out during another season. We saw a beautiful fox, tons of antelope, and we believe we saw a wolf on the way to the property one day! I would definitely come again!

Wonderful!

Very cozy cabin in a beautiful setting! We especially loved the large front porch and view. There is a good amount of privacy and distance from other cabins. Host was responsive and accommodating. Definitely would stay again. We did not spot any wildlife, but maybe next time. The only improvement we could think of would be a slightly better-equipped kitchen, particularly knives and cutting boards.

What a great little hidden gem off the beaten path!! Really enjoyed the area and loved that there was a hiking trail on the property with great views. A little bit of heaven

The cabin was immaculate and well supplied. A gorgeous setting in the fall colors. Saw fox, moose, coyotes, grouse, and antelope. So many WOWs at the colors and sunrises and sunsets from the awesome porch. Hope to return. Thank you, Deb.

The best

Deb was a great hostess. The cabin was secluded and a very peaceful stay. Hiking was awesome and we were able to see Elk , moose , Mule deer and other animals. We will be back.

Quiet and Relaxing

Whistle Pig cabin is located in a beautiful, quiet location. We spent a lot of time on the front deck. A moose walked right past the deck the first evening we were there! Also saw deer and prong horn on the road leading up to the cabin. We were fortunate to be there for the August super blue moon. Watching it come up over the mountains was magical. The cabin was spotless and well outfitted. Hiking trails in the Zerkils were a short distance away and we took advantage of the private trail on the property. Checkin was easy and communication with Deb was a breeze. We had a nice, in person conversation with her one evening and it was very informative about life in this remote area. We hope to return to this cabin again and again.

Beautiful!!!

We stayed the weekend at the whistle pig retreat. The location was beautiful with lots of privacy. The home was very well furnished, including plenty of linens, kitchenware, and utensils. We especially enjoyed having the Blackstone grill! Deb is very friendly and informative. She provided information on area activities and was very responsive to requests through the Vrbo app and phone. We are planning our next trip now!

Beautiful Retreat!

We loved our stay at the Whistle Pig Retreat! If we had not already planned to visit nearby sites (Strawberry Hot Springs, etc.), we would have been quite content just sitting on the lovely & spacious front porch enjoying the abundance of hummingbirds & deer ~ along with the spectacular view in utter peace and tranquility. Deb was a warm and welcoming host! Can't wait to return!

Great Getaway

Another perfect stay!

This accommodation is truly special and one of a kind. It was our second time staying at Deb's property, and expectations were exceeded once again. We will continue to return in the future. Would highly recommend. Great location, accommodation and host.

We are 22 West. Eli and Pat are 6th generation and Deb is 5th from a long line of Irish immigrants and brave, stubborn, hard working ranchers. Our land was generously gifted from the kindest, hardest little working woman, Sarah Iris Irvine, whose desire was to keep this land in our family at a huge sacrifice to her.
Our rentals also help to support North Park Wildlife Rehabilitation. We care for injured and orphaned wildlife in Jackson, Routt and Grand counties.

22 West is located 18 miles southwest of Walden, CO along the Park Range, Routt National Forest and the Zirkel Wilderness. Deb and her mom Sarah Iris were both born here in the old homestead which can be seen from the cabin. This is home, where our roots run deep.
