Cozy and Comfy Mountain Retreat Near Breckenridge Ski Resort

Our mountain home is located in the historic mining town of FairPlay, Colorado the home of South Park. We are 40 minutes in the winter from the World Famous Breckenridge Ski Resort, 80 minutes from Vail, with access to rivers and streams for all the fishing enthusiast, and close to BUENA VISTA Hot Springs. The home sits on a mountain hideaway with scenic views of mountains in every direction. We get lots of snow and wildlife interactions. You are high and secluded with all the comfort of home. We live in Valley of the Sun, this area has an amazing river that comes from the continental divide, you can fish or splash around during hot summer days. This river is at the bottom of the mountain, when you are coming into Valley of the Sun, you will need to drive down from the house to enjoy this water.

The space:

My home is minutes from mountain skying, biking, hiking, fishing, and natural walks where wild life like deer, moose, fox, and other animals call these mountains their home. Two amazing hiking trails are right around the corner, Pika and Pennsylvania Trails Heads. You wonderful sunny days in the summer and lots of snow in the Winter for play and fun. You are also minutes away from world class Ski Resorts like Breckenridge, Cooper Mountain, Keystone and Vail. You can visit the historic mining towns of "South Park" and Breckenridge, with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. You can also fish one of our many streams here near our home.

Our Home:

Our family home offers a great year round stay for friends and family. Its a small and cozy retreat with a secluded feel with no visible neighbors and nature in every direction, great snow play in the winter and natural streams in the summer. The property is over 1 acre of tranquility and beauty.

3rd Floor -Master loft Bedroom: King Bed with ensuite bath. You also have a queen bed for kids, sleeps 4. We have a large smart TV on this floor to enjoy all the streaming services. We also have a wonderful seating area, surrounded by picturesque windows with view of beautiful trees and nature, enjoy your morning coffee, reading, working, or simply a nice place to talk, catch up, and connect.

Main Floor- has a very comfortable sleeping/lounging nook that is wrapped by windows bringing in great sunlight and picturesque nature in every direction. This nook can comfortably sleep 1.

The living room area has comfortable sofa and seating areas facing the "RED" wood burning stove for those cold evenings or family game nights. The main living area also has a full kitchen, dinning, and doorway to the balcony for evening gatherings or sitting by the gas fire pit. The kitchen has all the essentials for preparing a great meal with oven, microwave, toasters, blenders, and everything else you can possible need.

Do you want to stream, we have the latest Starlink satellite internet system, with fast and reliable wifi for the entire house and all your devices.

Downstairs, accessed thru the lower floor, is the laundry room and storage.

There is parking outside the home with entrance through the lower level with room for multiple vehicles anytime of the year.

Kids will love playing outside with over an acre of wooded, secluded forest while the adults relax on the deck. The home offers nature to explore and plenty of space to play.

You have a feeling of seclusion, but just a 7 mile drive to town for shopping and restaurants. The drive to the cabin from Hwy 9, is 4.5 miles on a dirt/gravel road up the spectacular Pennsylvania mountain side. It feels far, but very close to everything you need. We want to note, its important you understand, we are up a mountain, there is no Uber delivery, Pizza delivery, or any type of delivery to the cabin, the home sits 5 miles from the closest grocery store in Fairplay called Prathers Market, we encourage you to do your shopping before getting to the home, pick up your essential groceries and drinks, the cabin has some condiments like salt, pepper, and others that people have left. Feel free to use them.

Please note:

During the snowy (October thru May) months, **You MUST HAVE four-wheeled drive or all wheel drive, with good winter tires** as you will most likely encounter icy and/or snowy roads in the entire neighborhood. I do have a steep driveway which is great for sledding, but needs an appropriate SUV. Chains are even recommended. It is a bumpy, non paved, graveled, 2 lane road for the last 4.5 miles, but it's a beautiful drive thru the woods of Pennsylvania Mountain. The roads in our area are maintained / plowed by the county and that service is not within our control on when they plow. Our snow removal service will plow our driveway after a storm, but may need some time to get there, please stock up and be prepared to wait out storms. We don't control nature, but can prepare. The deck may not be shoveled after storms for use, its up to you.

The cabin is located at approximately 11,350 feet (3,500 m) so be aware of the altitude. Be prepared and bring oxygen bottles, they sell at all the local grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. It's good to have while you acclimate to the altitude.

If booking the discounted spring/fall off season rates and it snows, the driveway won't be plowed. Plows are included November 15-April 15. You may have to walk up the steep, unplowed driveway, if your vehicle is unable to make it to the top of the driveway. My plow guy may be able to plow at your expense also, if he's available. We don't control Mother Nature or weather. Please plan accordingly.
