The Wilderness Lodge is located in Rantoul, Kansas, a quiet, rural community about one hour south of Kansas City. It’s the ideal place to unplug and unwind—surrounded by wide-open skies, natural beauty, and Midwest charm. While secluded, the lodge is a short drive from nearby towns with grocery stores, gas stations, and essentials.

4 bedrooms (2 private queen suites + 2 bunk-style suites with 4 queen beds each)
4 ensuite bathrooms stocked with Tommy Bahama toiletries (3 walk-showers and 1 shower/tub combo)

The living space showcases authentic Midwest charm with rich Americana hunting décor, real animal hide rugs, leather furniture with western throws, and plenty of taxidermy to set the scene. While the fireplace is decorative, it adds a cozy ambiance to the great room.

Unwind in the game room, equipped with a pool table and poker table, or gather around the fully stocked chef’s kitchen, featuring stainless steel appliances and all the essentials for home-cooked meals.

Step outside to enjoy the best of outdoor living. The covered patio includes seating for up to 20 guests, a gas grill, and a wood-burning fireplace—perfect for evening dinners or morning coffee in the fresh country air. Guests can explore private hiking trails, kayak on the onsite fishing pond, or soak in the hot tub under the stars. On the property, you will also find a storage box that is filled with outdoor games, including volleyball, badminton, cornhole, fishing gear, frisbees for frisbee golf (the goal is right next to it), and life jackets for the kayaks.

*We're on 400 acres of beautiful Kansas countryside, which means peace, quiet, and yes... bugs. Despite regular pest control, you may see a few critters inside and out. It's part of the charm of country living! We recommend bringing bug spray so you enjoy the outdoors during your stay.*

Please note, the floors throughout this home are concrete. Bringing house shoes may be preferred for an added level of comfort.

Due to its rural location, we highly recommend arriving by car. The property is located on a county dirt road, so please plan vehicle transportation accordingly. There is ample parking onsite. The lodge is located approximately:

1 hour from Kansas City
45 minutes from Overland Park
25 minutes from Ottawa, KS
15 minutes from basic shopping and gas stations

*IDENTITY VERIFICATION and PROPERTY INSURANCE REQUIREMENT: To help you relax and enjoy your stay, we have partnered with SafelyStay, Inc. to provide all reservations with damage protection of up to $1,500. This protection plan is $45 for all stays under 29 nights, and is included in the cost of your booking. Stays 30-59 nights will be required to pay an additional insurance premium of $305 directly on our website. Stays longer than 59 nights will be separately charged for damage protection extension at the rate of $130/30 days. Please note, guest screening is also required for any bookings made through VRBO or direct. Once your booking is confirmed, you will be contacted by Safely to complete an identity verification before your reservation date for any direct or VRBO bookings.

*MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT - Guests must be at least 25 years old to book a Cozy in KC property.

*PARTIES - All gatherings must be limited to 16, this is monitored and guests violating this rule will be charged a mandatory $700 fine. NO EVENTS OR PARTIES ARE ALLOWED.

*PETS - We do not allow pets at this property. There is a $500 fine for any unauthorized pets.

*POND - Please note: there is an unfenced open body of water on the property. Guests are responsible for supervising children and non-swimmers at all times. Use of the pond and kayaks is at your own risk.

*CANCELLATION POLICY - Guests can receive a full refund minus processing fees (approximately 4%) if they cancel up to 5 days before check in. No refund will be provided if cancelling less than 5 days before check in.

*LIABILITY WAIVER - Due to the body of water on the property, guests are required to sign a liability waiver before check-in.
