A new build nestled in the quiet village of Elberta, Sandhill Cottage borders the Betsie River State Game Preserve. Enjoy sandhill cranes, geese, deer, rabbits, and other wildlife from the many windows facing nature.

Just a quick drive to Crystal Mountain Resort for skiing, snowboarding, fat tire biking, horse drawn surrey rides, and other winter activities as well as live music, fine dining, and the Crystal spa.

Snowshoeing and cross country skiing opportunities are just across M-22 at the Elberta Dunes South Natural Area or just down M-22 at Green Point, both offering beautiful views of Lake Michigan and the dunes.

Local shopping, dining, and public beaches are just minutes away in Elberta and nearby Frankfort. Enjoy the sight of the Point Betsie Lighthouse silhouetted against the sunset over Northern Michigan or enjoy a movie and popcorn at the historic Garden Theater in nearby Frankfort.

Very nice place. Bed was comfortable which was a huge bonus. Very close to downtown Frankfurt which was nice because of boat launch was right there.

This cottage was perfect for our family of 4. It had a secluded and woodsy feel but close enough to ride a bike to both Elberta and Frankfort attractions. The cottage itself was very modern with an open concept that felt like home to us. We enjoyed being minutes from the beach and the boat launch.

Greatest place we have ever stayed. Used to live nearby didn’t want to leave. Our host Erin they left us wine and a card for our wedding. Made it feel like a family friend. Was amazing. Beautiful great neighbors. Awesome spot. Want to be there in 2026 for our anniversary.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house was perfect! We loved hiking the dunes and love the quietness of ELBERTA, any option to go into a bigger town like Frankfort 2 miles away. We had so much fun exploring the area going to food trucks going to the shops and the beaches. Alpaca farm was a great success as well! We will definitely be coming back.

This is a truly beautiful cottage. It is immaculately clean, roomy and well-equipped (especially the kitchen). It also has really lovely woodwork.The only suggestion we would have is maybe some additional window coverings (unless installing them would damage that lovely woodwork).The location is perfect - just down the street from Frankfort, and an easy drive to the National Lakeshore. The neighborhood is nice and quiet.

We loved our stay here! The location was perfect for the event in Frankfort we came to town for, a short drive to Frankfort downtown and beach. It's in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to nature trails. Erin's communication was friendly with quick responses. The cottage was very clean & new with cute decor, and well equipped with everything we needed for a stay. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the northern lights dance above the treetops our last night there. It's a wonderful cottage to stay in, & I highly recommend these hosts & this rental.

Sandhill Cottage was brand new and well appointed. It was in a quiet corner surrounded by trees for privacy. It was a great jumping off point for us to explore the "little finger" of Michigan. We had room for our motorcycle trailer and loved the front porch. The only suggestion we have would be to include a grill.

Great little place nestled back in the woods which makes it feel secluded. This was a last minute booking along with a last minute addition of a pet, which Erin kindly allowed. Everything you need can be found in the home. Theres a nice little hiking trail across the street that overlooks Lake Michigan. We had a great time and most definitely will be coming back. Erin is a great host thank you

We enjoyed the entire place! Location was a pleasant surprise. Close to things but felt secluded. Nice walking area right across the street! Nicely supplied. Can use a couple more things for comfort but would definitely stay again!

Welcome to Sandhill Cottage!

We're Earl and Erin, and we grew up here and settled here after college and military life. We built the cottage ourselves (with a lot of family help) and are so very excited to share our love of the area with you!

We enjoy mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, and taking our dog Roomba to the beach (and out for ice cream!).

We enjoy hosting because we get to share our love of this gorgeous corner of Michigan with people from all over, some for the first time, and others who loved it so much they had to come back.

We chose Elberta and this property specifically because of its proximity to nature and the calm feel of the village. For us, being out here, hearing the cranes and the wind in the trees, is restorative.
