Private Saltwater Pool + Steps to Beach
This 3BR, 3BA island retreat sleeps 8 and is less than a one-minute walk to the beach (we timed it—with flip-flops). While some photos don’t yet show it, we’re in the process of refreshing every room with bright paint, a whitewashed plank ceiling in the great room, new furniture, and playful coastal decor—including cheeky touches like alligator wallpaper and bold Southern charm.
It’s casual comfort meets curated beach vibes—with plenty of space for families, including baby gates, high chairs, and other thoughtful amenities for traveling with little ones. Outside, you’ll find a private, heated saltwater pool (heating available for $35/day in cooler months.)
A 4-seater golf cart is included with your stay for exploring the island at your own pace. Need more room? Additional carts can be rented from Boats and Fun or the Island Club.
2025 rates are lower while we put the finishing touches on the space—so if you’re cool booking on a little faith, you’ll score a sunny deal. No painting or decor work will ever be done during guest stays; all updates happen between bookings.
After you book, you’ll receive an extensive digital guest guide to help you plan everything from groceries to ferry logistics. We also have a wonderful property manager who lives right on the island—she’ll meet you at the ferry, help get you to the house, show you around, and is available throughout your stay for any questions or local tips.
Please note: Check-out is at 9:00 AM (VRBO doesn’t allow us to list that time accurately). The hot tub is no longer on the property, though it may appear in a few older photos.

We chose North Captiva Island because it feels like a true escape—no cars, no crowds, just barefoot luxury and unspoiled nature. It’s one of the last places in Florida where you can watch dolphins swim by from the beach, explore miles of quiet shoreline, and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. We loved the sense of community here and the slower pace that invites you to really relax, reconnect, and soak it all in. It’s a place where kids chase lizards and seashells instead of screens, and grown-ups finally get to exhale. We knew right away this was where we wanted to create something special.

Sunshine Day House is anything but ordinary—and that’s exactly how we like it. We’re designing this beach retreat with a dash of old South whimsy, cheeky bold accents (yes, there’s alligator wallpaper!), and a relaxed coastal vibe that still feels elevated and fun. Every room has its own personality, with thoughtful touches that bring joy and spark a smile.
As parents of toddler twins, we know how hard it can be to truly relax on vacation—so we’ve made this home as family-friendly as possible. You’ll find baby gates, high chairs, kids’ dishes, and even a few surprise touches to make traveling with little ones easier. And for grown-ups, there’s a private saltwater pool, a fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of cozy corners to sip a drink and breathe in the island breeze.
We’re still finishing a few spaces (fresh paint and playful details are in progress!), but guests already say it feels like sunshine in house form.
