Dar Madjoul - Luxury 4-bedroom Riad in Marrakech with Pool and AC

Welcome to our beautiful, newly renovated historic riad in one of the lovelist quarters of the Marrakech Medina, two minutes from the Bahia Palace and five minutes from the beating heart of Marrakech, the Jemaa El Fna square.

The riad is available exclusively for you and your travel companions. Enjoy your own gorgeous pool and garden rooftop in complete privacy.

Daily breakfast and cleaning are provided by our charming housekeeper Meryem. We hope you enjoy staying there as much as we do.

The riad is located in a wide and lovely street, in an area with a mix of authentic private homes and high-end small hotels and guest houses. The location could not be more convenient for museums, restaurants and the famous markets of Marrakech. Taxis and parking are located a mere two minutes walk away, at the end of our street, Rue de la Bahia.

Dar Medjoul is a historic home which we have renovated slowly over the past three years with the help of a well-known Italian architect specialising in local restorations. We have taken care not to harm the special character of the house - we wanted the result to be authentic but also offer luxury and refinement. We have hand-selected all the furniture from local markets, blending local and European, traditional and modern styles. All our bedding is imported organic Egyptian cotton with a 400 thread count, with winter and summer bed throws brought from a trip to Jodphur, India (one of our favorite cities). We have installed a large pool for keeping cool when the temperature soars, and a small fountain for the atmospheric sound of water consistent with local Islamic architectural themes.

We are located steps away from the famous Bahia Palace and the neighbouring square, the Place des Ferblantiers, with its cafes, spice and handicraft shops. Moments from the square is the fascinating Kasbah area with the El Badi Royal Palace and the historic Jewish Quarter of Marrakech, also known as the Mellah. Here you can visit the old Zlat Al Azamy synagogue and ancient Jewish cemetery. The many markets (souks) are close by – a 2 minute stroll from our riad will bring you to the cafes, shops and stalls at the start of the Riad Zeitoune market which lead directly to the main square, the unique Jemaa El Fna and the adjoining markets.

There are no dull moments in Marrakech. We are located in the heart of the action and excitement of the city but our home is always a welcoming and tranquil place to return to after a day experiencing all that Marrakech has to offer.

The riad is a private home and available for your exclusive use during your stay. It has four double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom, with its own lounge-reception, uniquely painted and handcrafted ceiling and carved plasterwork, is a magical space. Top quality linens and towels are provided in all bedrooms, and there is a hairdryer in each bathroom in the riad. Each bedroom has its own Hitachi reverse air conditioning system for custom cooling and heating.

Our kitchen is well-equipped and we have installed a reverse osmosis filtration system to ensure our guests have clean drinking and cooking water at all times, as well as to reduce reliance on plastic bottles. We love to cook - if you do too, please feel free to prepare yourselves a light snack or a full meal. Close by, there are small stores, fruit and vegetable stalls, and a meat and fish market. Larger supermarkets, with a wide array of international foods, fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegtables are a few minutes away by taxi at the Carre Eden shopping mall.

Alternatively, Meryem would be very happy to prepare for you a delicious three course traditional Moroccan dinner at the riad. The cost per person is 25 euros (vegetarian) or 30 euros (chicken). For a small additional fee, Meryem will be able to stay and serve you her meal and complete the post meal clean-up. Next to the kitchen is a large dining area with seating for eight, and adjoining it is a separate outdoor lounge area - or bhou - with ceiling fan. On the first floor there is a spacious and elegant second lounge with a wood burning fireplace, a light filled coursive for sitting and enjoying the quiet, and a shaded and comfortable seating area on the roof top terrace garden for relaxing. The roof terrace has plenty of seating as well as an outdoor shower and small outdoor kitchen for cooling off and chilling drinks. Fast fiber optic wifi is perfect for smart working and is available throughout the house, including ther roof terrace. The pool is always available for your use. The raid has a large washing machine and dryer available for guests to use at no extra cost.

Meryem is our trusted and charming house-keeper, fluent in English, French and of course Moroccan Arabic, or Derija. She will come to riad each morning to prepare and serve you a wonderful Moroccan and continental breakfast and is then available to clean and tidy the riad if you would like. Breakfast is served from 8-11am, according to your schedule. Meryem can also provide assistance with making restaurant reservations or booking one of our trusted and experienced guides for tours around Marrakech or further afield.

If you would like us to arrange a taxi shuttle from the airport or train station, please let us know. We work with several local drivers whose services we trust. The cost is 200 Dh / 20 Euros per journey for up to seven people, payable directly to the driver. The taxi drop off is a two minute walk from our riad which is clearly numbered and very well lit; there is no getting lost down winding alleys. Meryem will come and meet your taxi and show you to the riad.
