Acerca de este alojamiento
Backroad Cabin • cozy, private retreat, fireplace, backyard with fire pit and string lights.
We’re cozy, quietly luxurious but with an old soul that’s here for nature, good books, time around the fire, and lingering meals in the gorgeous kitchen. Strategically private location in Paradise Valley, Montana, but just 45 min. to Yellowstone National Park. We love dogs and strive to be your best neighbors/hosts. Heated bathroom floors, record player, games, high-speed internet, unique artwork, crisp linens, and all the small details. A genuine Montana stay.
Self check-in instructions and our (very detailed) welcome guide are shared before you arrive. Settle in at your own pace. We live next door (out of sight from the cabin), and we're happy to chat and help out in any way, but we also give guests their space to enjoy this little piece of a paradise. Don't hesitate to ask for local recommendations or trip planning ideas.
The cabin is in a quiet mountain neighborhood on a scenic dirt road in the heart of Paradise Valley. You'll enjoy nature and wide-open Montana spaces while still being just 15 minutes from local restaurants, watering holes, and the general store. Outdoor adventures abound—hiking trails, Yellowstone River access (15 min), fishing, multiple hot springs, and Yellowstone’ National Park's north entrance (45 min) are all nearby, as is the artsy cowboy town of Livingston, with its impressive array of restaurants and bars, 2 excellent breweries, and lots of local shopping. During the winter months, our north entrance to Yellowstone Park is the only drivable entrance--leading to great skiing, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing.
Guests have access to the full house and 3 acres, with the exception of one locked supply closet. Park in the driveway and use the keyless entry door. Code will be provided by host prior to arrival.
Welcome! We personally designed this cabin to be the kind of sanctuary that makes people say, "This was exactly what we needed." We stock it with incredible detail, adding small ways for you to unwind and connect. But before we get to the specifics, I want to also say that part of what makes this place special is how we host. We want you to feel truly at home here and for this to be a memorable stay, from the guest gift bags and locally roasted coffee to the way the morning sun filters through the cabin windows. We're local, hands-on hosts, and we're your closest neighbors. We genuinely love having people from all over the country stay here.
KITCHEN: Designed for both slow mornings and lively dinners, you’ll find a full-size refrigerator and oven range, microwave, dishwasher, a Cuisinart combo (drip & pods) coffee maker, French press, electric kettle, blender, and toaster—alongside sharp knives, quality cookware, and all the essentials for prepping everything from pancakes to post-hike feasts. We’ve stocked the shelves with teas, olive oil, spices, and a few thoughtful extras to make cooking here feel easy. Our bar includes a shaker, champagne bucket, and plenty of glassware. There are four stools at the counter for seating, plus an extendable dining table that seats 4-6.
LIVING AREA: A leather sofa (with queen pullout) and recliner offer the perfect spot to unwind with a book, sip wine, or map out tomorrow’s adventure. You’ll find a curated selection of books, games, a record collection, and a smart TV with streaming options—plus Wi-Fi if you need to check in with the outside world. A gas stove adds warmth and glow on cooler days and evenings. The coffee table has storable stools that pull out for game time. Large sliding-glass doors open to the patio.
BEDROOM 1: Framed by large windows, this is your sanctuary. Sink into a queen bed with crisp linens and a plush duvet with a Helix mattress. Enjoy your own ensuite bathroom with heated floors and a walk-in shower. Whether you're reading in bed with the breeze drifting through, writing at the desk, or watching the light shift across the mountains, this space was made for slowing down. The corner chair folds out into a twin bed for extra sleeping arrangements (best for a kid) or a perfect reading spot.
ENSUITE BATH : Heated tile floors, large walk-in shower, towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, hairdryer, and amenities. We provide plenty of extra toilet paper and towels. We even have extra toothbrushes and razors if you forget yours!
BEDROOM 2: Stretch out in the queen bed or settle into the twin pullout chair—perfect for an extra guest or a lazy afternoon nap. The built-in reading nook offers a quiet perch for flipping through a book or watching the light shift across the hills. Whether you’re sharing the space with a friend or claiming it for yourself, this room gives you room to relax, recharge, and feel at home.
BATH 2: Heated tile floors, large walk-in shower, towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, hairdryer, and amenities. This room also holds a washer/dryer with detergent.
OUTSIDE: The front patio includes a large Weber grill, and patio seating. Our backyard hangout features perennial gardens, Adirondack chairs, and a gas fire pit, with outdoor lighting to set the mood. Perfect for our cool mountain evenings. A tiny creek winds through the aspens, and a large meadow runs from the cabin down to the dirt road.
This is a rural location and is only accessible by car. Rental vehicles are available locally and at the airport. You are responsible for having proper vehicles and tires. We require all-wheel-drive/4-wheel drive October through April (and honestly, it’s good to have all the time.) You don't need a high-clearance vehicle. There are maybe 2-3 days a year when chains or studded tires might be desirable (but for reference, I do just fine all winter with snow tires and a small SUV.)
DOGS WELCOME: We love furry friends! We supply couch cover, extra dog blankets, a dog bed, bowls, and other amenities. $125 pet fee & pet agreement apply and allows for up to 3 dogs. No cats or other types of animals. There is a $200 fee for bringing an unannounced pet. Please ensure all pet waste is picked up. Do not allow dogs to roam unattended. Dogs should not be left alone in the cabin unless they are kenneled. (We can loan you a crate if needed.)
SMOKING: No smoking or vaping on the property.
THE BEST KIND OF SECLUSION: The cabin is tucked off a well-maintained scenic dirt road. All-wheel drive required from October - April in case of snow. (And we do recommend AWD/4WD for Montana all the time, but a 2WD can manage this road just fine in the summer.) The road in includes 4 miles of gravel road--great for walking, biking, etc. Enjoy a quiet spot with incredible stars and lots of open space.
WORK & CREATIVE FRIENDLY: Two workstations and high-speed internet. You'll also find creative idea prompts tucked into drawers, art supplies, games, and more.
LOCAL TIPS: 15 minutes to the nearest general store and restaurants. Yellowstone’s north entrance is 45 minutes away. Hiking, hot springs, and river and fishing adventures are nearby—ask us for our favorite hidden gems! Our quiet road offers excellent walking, running, and biking opportunities with incredible views of the mountains.
FIRE SAFETY Fire pit and gas fireplace are ready for cozy evenings—please follow all safety instructions. No wood fires or fireworks.
WILDLIFE: The cabin has ample wildlife viewing opportunities. You may see deer, elk, fox, bear, marmots, an array of birds, coyotes or even an elusive mountain lion. We recommend keeping doors closed & screens in place to keep insects out of the cabin. Please maintain a safe distance, do not feed animals and keep all food secured. If recreating outdoors in this region of Montana, we recommend bringing bear spray (and the cabin has cans you can borrow).
YOUR HOSTS: We aim to be the kind of hosts that deliver exceptional hospitality, while also being your favorite neighbor. We live nearby, love dogs, and enjoy meeting guests (but also give you your space). We share a few of our favorite spots in our guidebook - but we're always happy to give additional tailored recommendations.
PARKING: Easy parking for 4+ cars. (Additional parking, including for trailers and RVs can be arranged; we might need to mow in a little bit in the field.)
