Island Jewel - Sweet "Suite" Retreat in Charming Kure Beach

Just a short walk to the ocean and charming Kure Beach, pet friendly ISLAND JEWEL offers a unique opportunity to enjoy all that Kure Beach has to offer just minutes away from all the fun. Enjoy this private retreat get-away on the bottom floor of a single family home on a quiet cul-de-sac in the well loved Kure Dunes sub-division. This two room suite (comparable to a hotel suite) has a private entrance and is completely separate from the owner occupied portion of the home. The suite includes a large family room that includes a sizable work station, with high speed internet available for those wishing to work or study remotely. There are two TVs, one in the family room with a DVD player and one in the private bedroom. There is a separate bath with tub, and all towels and linens are provided. A queen sleeper sofa (with mattress topper) in the family room provides a place to sleep for additional guests. Island Jewel also provides hotel suite amenities including a small refrigerator with freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and hot/cold filtered water dispenser (Please note this unit does not include a full-service kitchen.) Enjoy breakfast and lunch ensuite, and explore Pleasure Island and Wilmington for terrific evening meals at the many wonderful restaurants the area has to offer. Come stay a day, a week or longer at Island Jewel!

PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to bring a family dog or two, we do accept pets. A $20 per pet per night pet fee applies and should be paid when making your reservation. We offer a fully fenced back yard area that is yours to use while you are visiting. We kindly ask that you dispose of dog waste during your stay.

I will definitely book this place again. It was very clean and very close to the beach. Check in was very easy and Dee Anne was a great host! and does message you back very quickly. Very cute home and love the bird feeders outside the bedroom window. Got to do some bird watching also with a few squirrels. The house was decorated so cute in a coastal theme. Very comfortable place to stay and very clean.

The suite was a great size. They allowed my dog to travel with me and was only 20 pet fee per night. It was quiet, the bed was comfy and so was the living room furniture. I will definitely stay again and highly recommend this property!

It might’ve been my error, but I didn’t realize it didn’t have a full kitchen. But it did have a microwave , oven, refrigerator, and a grill. It worked out well. Overall, he was walking distance to the beach and we had a great time

We had the loveliest time at the Island jewel! Our pups enjoyed the fenced in yard area for them and the walkable beach access was unbeatable! It was a very comfortable stay and we will absolutely be coming back! I could not recommend the Island Jewel to anyone wanting to have a weekend away enough!!

This property was awesome. The attention to detail the owners offered, stocked cabinet with paper plates, plastic silverware down to the bowl of dog biscuits left for your pup which my Dixie enjoyed several! Definitely want to book again. Nice quiet area fenced in yard.

The accommodations were exactly what we needed. The owner was very good about communication. It was very nice having paper plates, plastic utensils, and even an air fryer to use if we needed it. We had no problems at all with the house, except for seeing a few spiders in the one corner behind the bed.

The Island Jewel truly lives up to its name—offering unbeatable location, thoughtful amenities, and every convenience you could hope for. The hosts genuinely thought of everything: paper products, snacks, tea and coffee, a water cooler, wine glasses, and even a wine opener. It made our stay effortless and enjoyable.

This was the perfect spot for us! The apartment was spotless, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. The mini fridge held more than expected and had a better freezer than we thought might be the case. Dee and Larry provided k-cups, tea bags, snacks, and dog biscuits :) Communications were seamless. There were more than enough towels, washcloths, pillows, and blankets. The bedding felt great, and our 22-year old slept comfortably on the couch. The water pressure and A/C were great, as were the ceiling fans and additional tabletop/floor fans. The fenced-in yard wraps around the house with several outdoors chairs. Dee and Larry have some beach chairs available for borrowing. The walk to the beach was very close and nice, through a lovely neighborhood. There’s an easy drop-off area for delivering heavier things (like a pop-up tent and weights) by vehicle. My husband and son easily connected to the TV, which has not always been the case at other rentals. Kure Beach and Carolina Beach are nice towns, and we ate delicious food throughout our stay. Fort Fisher is beautiful, and we enjoyed an affordable and convenient ferry to the cute town of Southport. I highly recommend the Island Jewel! Thank you, Dee and Larry!

The place was nice, very clean, and overall for our weekend trip it was decent place to stay. However, we were not aware that the host would be living full time above us. We could hear them walking around, we could hear their TV, when they use their water upstairs you can hear it running through the pipes, their dogs came downstairs to a connecting door and was barking, and they let their own dogs in the fenced in portion which made our dog bark at 7:00am. While the place was clean we didn’t feel comfortable knowing they were right there—not that we did anything wrong but just not the notion VRBO advertises which is the “entire” place to yourself. We did have to ask for a plunger which we used and had to immediately return upon their request. They did vacate often however when they were away their dogs would come downstairs and bark. Overall clean place, decent stay, but if you don’t want to run into the host while on your vacation this may not be the place for you.
