A quiet relaxing forest retreat

It was a beautiful location. Very quiet mountain home neighborhood. We enjoyed all the amenities of the home. Well appointed.

McCall Studio

Clean, spacious, comfortable and great location. However, it was lacking in some basic amenities, ie, Kleenex, soap for shower, only 2 coffee cups, 3 dinner plates, no wine glasses. Also one of the entry steps was coming loose and the steep interior stairs leading to the unit lacked a railing. Also, the tv did not work. Otherwise it was a nice stay.

Overall good, would use again

We arrived very late due to fight delays. Check in was easy. Previous renters had taken coffee maker so we told owner and they said to pick one up at local store and send receipt and it would be deducted from rent. Washing machine didn’t work. Had an error code that said it wasn’t getting water. Also, the oven didn’t work. The room was nice and location was good. Convenient to everything. Would visit again. Loved the area and people we met. Just get those little things fixed and it would have been perfect.

Smelled like old cigarettes but the stairwell had no handrail so those needing support, good luck. The remodel was done by a poor contractor where paint overspray, paint on ceramic tile floor, etc. noted. Management said it was clean but their standard is lower than ours. This rental has mis-matched linens, plates, glasses (what exist) which need to be upgraded. Just don’t look at the bathroom fan cover…

Listing doesn't really sleep 4.

One King size bed and an air mattress that deflated. The kitchen did not have very many pots, pans, or cooking utensils. We contacted the property manager about the deflated air mattress and they had a new one delivered but we had no way to pump it up. The previous one was self-inflating. They need to invest in a sleeper-sofa and buy some pots, pans, and anything else that a normal kitchen would have.

Grain of salt..

We planned a nice relaxing trip up to McCall weeks a couple weeks in advance including my pre paid reservation for this property. When we arrived and walked into the unit for out stay ( well after the 4pm check in time allowed) low and behold the previous guests had not checked out. All their valuables were in the unit ....and the place smelled like smoke. No doubt smokers staying in the place. WE attempted many times to contact the owner and the VRBO customer service is a joke they do nothing except try to contract the owner like we do. This is a busy weekend in McCall and now my wife and I trip turned into having to frantically try to find a "overpriced" last minute room at a hotel much farther away from the lake than we planned. So we ended up pay a couple hundred dollars more for our weekend lodging that we budgeted for plus no where near the lake. So even if you reserve this spot odds may be when yo arrive you will be out of luck like us. Of course we got a refund...big deal...that was the minimum. Beware staying here it stinks and you may not get the room you planned on.

Dirty and not as advertised

I recently stayed at [accommodation name], and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The accommodations were not as advertised, and the overall cleanliness of the place left much to be desired. There was a persistent and unbearable odor that made it difficult to even stay in the room. To make matters worse, we had booked a 2-bed (4 persons) accommodation, but what we received was an air mattress that didn't work properly. Despite reaching out to the management, they refused to make it right, leaving half of our family with no choice but to sleep on the floor. This was completely unacceptable and extremely inconvenient, especially during a family vacation. When booking a place to stay, one expects basic comfort and cleanliness, which sadly were lacking in this situation. It is disheartening to have paid for an accommodation that failed to meet even the most basic standards. Light bulbs were burnt out and bedding was missing including no duvet cover. I strongly advise against considering staying here , as their lack of responsiveness and refusal to rectify the situation only added to the disappointment. I hope that my review serves as a warning to future travelers and prompts the management to address the issues they are clearly aware of.

Really didn’t live up to the pictures

My Husband and I booked a 4 night stay for the beginning of spring break and thought we found a nice relaxing place there in McCall. However, since the moment we got there it was a huge disappointment. Starting off on the driveway, they never plowed it after a snow storm and so the driveway became an ice rink. To continue on the outside, the small 3 foot wide walkway is scattered with black ice. This is a combination from driveway way runoff and the 8 inches of ice and snow on the roof. It’s one decent warm day away from all that ice sliding off and damaging the house or worse, hit someone. Also lots of beer bottles laying around the backyard, probably broken. We didn’t want to go near them because we don’t know where the glass bottles start and stop. Rating on outside, 1 and dangerous. On the inside, it is either still under renovation or they did a hack job remodeling. Paint on the floors, counters, and doors. They used brown shag carpet so if it gets dirty no one can tell. Easier to say it’s clean if it’s all dirty. The kitchen is a joke, offer 3 basic items for cooking. An unusable 6 inch fry pan, a 12 inch saucer pan, and a 3 quart pot. They provided a 4 person living space with 1 coffee mug. When we decided to try and make something in the kitchen, low and behold the dishes were dirty. I spent a good potion of that morning cleaning the place up so we could try and enjoy it. We didn’t pay for this place just for us to spend our time cleaning it. Especially when there is a large cleaning fee!! And lastly, but absolutely the worst thing is the bed. The mattress itself is old and caves in making it impossible to get a decent night sleep, not to mention the sheets are pilling and do not fit the bed. The bed frame is also old, broken, and squeaky. You cough and the bed moves. Inside rating: 1 This is a company who just buys homes and rents them out (about 100 nationwide). They clearly don’t visit to do property checks and maintain it. I hope this review will get them to come up and update everything so future guests can enjoy McCall for the beauty it has to offer.

Full Kitchen Not Equipped

We chose this property because it listed a full kitchen, was close to town and allowed dogs. When we arrived after a long day of travel wanting to cook simple spaghetti for dinner we found only two small skillets. Not even a pot to boil water or a cookie sheet to reheat bread in the oven. The towels were gray and dingy, there was beard hair trimmings in the top drawer of the bathroom, the sheets were pilly and only 1 coffee mug for the morning. From the photos we thought the couch was a pull-out but once we realized it wasn’t we went back and read the description. The place only “sleeps 4” with an air mattress. The location was great and there was easy parking but the cleanliness and ill-equipped kitchen left much to be desired.

We enjoyed ourselves! And we were excited to be able to bring our dog 💕 the only thing was there wasn’t enough pots and pans, we made do, but maybe getting more pans would be awesome!

Great place for a couple!

This is a clean, comfortable place in a good location. I would stay here again and recommend it others without hesitation. The only downside, which the owners have no control over, is the people renting the house took over all 4 parking spots and we had to park down the road every time we came and left.

It was fine

The place was fine. A like cluttered. The parking was iffy because the people renting the house brought 4 cars. It was good for short notice weekend get away.

Great place to stay!

This place was perfect for my family! Plenty of space for 2 adults, one child, and our dogs. We loved that it was one big open area. The kitchen and laundry came in very handy. Close walking distance to the lake and restaurants. If staying here with a very little one, I would recommend bringing a baby gate to prevent access to the stairs. Honestly a great place to stay.

The room rental was fantastic. It was recently renovated and modern. It was very spacious and had convenient amenities such as the full kitchenette. The property owners even bought an air conditioner unit prior to our stay to ensure we would be comfortable. Customer service level was great. We would love to stay here again, and encourage you to stay here too!
