We stayed here for 3 nights with a family of 6, mostly teenage kids. The house itself definitely was updated and modern, but several things were broken or showing significant wear and tear, e.g. towel holders, dishwasher, beds. The house was mostly clean with the exception of the sofa bed, floor, and walls. We didn't spend much time there as we were exploring DC for most of the days, but when we did, it was difficult to relax together as there is only a 3-person couch in the main area. The unit is also 1 of 2 for the property and our first night there, the other guests arrived very late and came in through the back entrance making all kinds of noises, including trying to open the door to our unit. Not the owner's fault but there needs to be better instructions as to how to access the property and acknowledging the shared space. The area around the unit is not a great part of DC. There is garbage on the streets and a couple of guys were smoking when we arrived. That said, we had no issues with parking our rental vehicle on the street or walking around during the day or at night. Just normal city activity. It's not the closest to the National Mall but if you're willing to walk it's doable. Note that the streetcar in the listing only runs through 3/31.That would make walking to the National Mall a long trek. Lots of places to eat in close vicinity, so that was nice. Good communication with the owner. The price and location worked for our trip, for which we are grateful.
