Welcome to The Lion House, a thoughtfully designed Manhattan Beach hideaway just one block from the ocean. Built by an eccentric astrophysicist who loved symmetry, symbolism, and the poetry of numbers, the home now blends his curiosity with a sense of coastal calm and gentle spiritual presence.



Inside, each space is shaped for grounding and renewal. The sauna and cold plunge offer a refreshing contrast. The spa-style soaking tub invites stillness. Art throughout the home reflects themes of protection, clarity, and balance, including a Buddha blessed in Bhutan and subtle nods to the number three. And the flamingo in the shower brings a moment of lightness that guests always remember.

The Lion House was originally created by uncle Bob, a brilliant and quirky astrophysicist who designed this home with intention, curiosity, and a lifelong fascination with the number three. Today, I have shaped it into a serene, coastal retreat where meaningful art, natural textures, and thoughtful spaces come together to create a home that feels grounding and warm.



A Guided Walkthrough of the Home



When you enter through the front door, you step onto the first floor landing and follow the stairs down toward a glass door that opens to the outdoor patio. This space is one of the heartbeats of the home. The landscaping is soft and intentional, creating a pathway through greenery that feels both peaceful and alive. Here, you will find the cold plunge and sauna, two wellness elements that invite you to slow down, reset, and enjoy a moment of calm.



Heading back inside and up to the second floor, the energy shifts into a cozy, intimate living level filled with art, soft light, and the first bedrooms. At the top of the stairs and to your left, you will find The Guardian’s Room, designed with artwork symbolizing strength and protection. It is a quiet space with grounding energy.



As you continue down the hallway, you pass a small fountain that offers a gentle, soothing sound. To your left is the pink flamingo bathroom, home to the signature flamingo that brings a touch of playfulness and charm. And yes, the flamingo in the shower is meant to spark a smile. To the right, you reach The Purple Room, a guest favorite. The artwork here is inspired by the eight principles of balance and clarity. Soft tones and intentional details make this room a calming place to unwind.



Walking up to the third floor, the home opens into its bright, airy main living space. Here you will find The Stillness Room, a space anchored by warm tones and calming décor. It is a place designed for rest, reflection, and ease.



From this level, the home flows naturally into the dining area, where a wooden table adds warmth and texture. The kitchen sits beside it with unique cabinetry and eye-catching details that reflect the home’s original creativity. It is designed to feel both functional and beautiful, ideal for lingering breakfasts or evening meals shared with good company.



To the left of The Stillness Room is The Artist’s Room, filled with color, creativity, and uplifting energy. This room is open, expressive, and perfect for guests who appreciate design with personality.



Step outside onto either the north or south balconies, both filled with vibrant seating, soft cushions, and colors that lift your mood. These outdoor spaces allow you to enjoy fresh coastal air throughout the day, from morning sun to golden sunset.



A Home Designed for Rest



Throughout the home, you will find moments created to help you rest and reconnect. The contrast of the sauna and cold plunge, sunlight across natural wood, and the deep soaking tub all encourage you to slow down. Each detail, from the art to the textures to the layout, is intentional.



It is a reminder that rest can also feel lighthearted.



Just one block from the beach, you can easily step out for morning walks, afternoon sun, or a peaceful moment by the water. The ocean is part of the experience here.

It is not equipped with baby items such as cribs or high chairs, and certain areas may require extra supervision. While we do not specifically promote the property as child-friendly, families are welcome to book at their own discretion. Our space is thoughtfully curated for a serene experience, and we kindly ask that all guests be mindful of the home’s furnishings and features throughout their stay.



Check-In Process: Guests are asked to complete our company’s check-in forms before arrival to ensure a smooth, secure process. We work with a trusted third-party insurance provider for property coverage and optional guest screening.



Travel Insurance: We recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your plans, as our cancellation policy remains firm.

Quiet Hours: 9pm – 8am, to ensure a peaceful environment.

No Parties or Loud Gatherings: Respect for neighbors and community is a priority.

Guest Policy: Only registered guests are permitted on the property. No additional visitors allowed.

Non-Smoking Property: Smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited indoors, on balconies, and patios.

No Pets Allowed: To maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and comfort for all guests, pets are not permitted.

Checkout: Please adhere to the designated checkout time to avoid additional fees. Late checkouts must be pre-approved.

Reviews & Compliance: Guests who disregard house rules, cancellation policies, or checkout times may forfeit the opportunity to leave a public review.



Booking Policies:

Review Requirement: Reservations from guests with limited reviews or ratings below 5 stars are subject to host approval.



Long-Term Stays:

For reservations longer than 30 days, a monthly cleaning service is required at $500 per month. For stays over 30 days, the checkout deep cleaning fee is $1,000.

By booking this property, you agree to all house rules. Guests assume responsibility for personal safety during their stay and acknowledge that hosts are not liable for lost or forgotten items. Hosts reserve the right to enter with 12 hours’ notice for urgent maintenance needs.
