Great family beach week

Great place, great location and longboat key never dissapoints. The only thing needed is an updated mattress on the pullout couch since we were not able to use that as advertised, but it’s an easy fix.

Really enjoyed our stay here! The view was fantastic! Beautiful view of the beach from kitchen, living room, master bedroom and balcony. The kitchen is nice and updated but bedrooms and bathrooms in desperate need of updating. Didn't really effect my enjoyment though! The resort staff very nice, friendly and helpful. Laundry facilities were great, even better they are free! We plan to return to same unit!

It is a shame the owner does not take more care of her unit.

Toured around all the rooms then begin unpacking to go to the beach and play with monster trucks and then the water with our grandson. we all had such a good time we didn’t want to leave. We’re already planning to visit again this summer, so relaxing, so refreshing so much fun thank you Sand Cay for helping us with each visit that we returned to see you till again my friends. I had to buy pitchers for our drinks. The bathrooms are in dire need of update and fixing. The master shower had mildew on the curtain and the piece beneath the faucet had some kind of metallic tape to prevent leaks? We will be back to Sand Cay, but not back to this unit.

Reviewer Comments: As advertised the view was wonderful, master bed is comfortable, layout is very accessible for the size of the unit, the kitchen seemed adequately equipped, though a disposable scrub sponge as part of the welcome packet would be helpful. However, the couch/loveseat combo is beyond end of life. The couch went unused for sitting the entire week and we had to fold up all of the extra bedding in the unit to top the pull out mattress to make it sleepable. I've owned a coastal rental unit in the past and understand the expenses involved, but at this point the couch has to be addressed. It's a possible deal breaker for future stays for us.

Beautiful view, but need updates

The location of condo 303 is amazing there’s a gorgeous view from most rooms and just a quick walk to the beach. There were plenty of chairs on the beach for my family and umbrellas to borrow from the condo office. Our main issue is with the worn mattresses and couches. All need to be updated: the couch was almost unbearable to sit on and the mattresses felt really old and tired (just like us after trying to sleep on them for 5 nights). The kitchen was well stocked with just about all the utensils and cookware you’ll need and the appliances were newer. There are beach towels and hair dryers, which are not listed, and knowing that would have saved us a lot of luggage space. The door lock also needs attention, we almost couldn’t get the door open a few times. I would definitely come back after some of these updates, but as it stands I think the owner should charge a little less.

Unit 303 Sand Cay Resorts

Sand Cay Resorts is well maintained. Conveniently located to St Armand, Sarasota, and surrounding areas with restaurants and amenities. Unit 303 has a spectacular view of the Gulf of Mexico. Was able to observe the sunset from either the beach or from several locations inside the unit, the balcony, the dining area or the master bedroom. The unit had everything a family could possibly need. Kitchenware, televisions and DVRs, beach toys and supplies and puzzles and games. Even a few books. During our stay, the resort wasn't very crowded which also made our experience more enjoyable. Most days the pool was empty except for us and it was pleasantly warm (82 degrees according to the in-room manual). One of our biggest surprises was the hot water and pressure, both were in abundance. The only issues which didn't prevent us from enjoying ourselves, were minimal, the tv and cable box in the master bedroom were not connected (the chest of drawers was heavy and awkward to move out) but again not a big deal. The two sofas and the two carpets have seen a lot of use, wear and tear and are need of replacement, again not a deal breaker. There was no outside distracting noises. Very peaceful! We would visit there again.

The stay was wonderful because of time spent with family, beautiful water, and great location to the beach. But the staff was NOT the least bit accommodating with the check-in process and it started our weekend off on a really sour note for all. If you arrive early DO NOT expect to access your room before 3:00 pm - even if it's been sitting empty for the previous 2-3 nights. We've stayed at a lot of places on LBK over the years & will go back to them in the future as a result of Sugar Cay's ridiculous check-in policy/procedure. Unit 303 bedroom carpet is old & disgusting. Ants everywhere in the kitchen, but fully loaded for all your cooking needs. Great balcony view of water, but dirty/sandy floor that was overlooked for cleaning. Old & worn LR furniture, high chair had food (or worse) still crusted on it. Definitely not updated in a while. Charcoal grills - really should be updated to gas. They charge you a $165 cleaning fee, but instruct you to remove sheets, pile towels up, sweep floor, run dishwasher etc.

“Sweet” Suite 303

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our third stay at Sand Cay Beach Resort. Same unit and same great view. Same time of year also, the place and pool and beach are practically empty. Sand Cay is conveniently located to restaurants and shopping (if that is your idea of a getaway). It seemed to us that the couches and rugs had been updated since last year. All the required amenities are included if you choose to stay in and cook. All with the view. Even observed the outdoor grills being used this year. Not that Sand Cay has control over this next reason we like staying here is the wild bunnies that are in the yard every morning and evening, the dolphins swimming by, and the sunsets when Mother Nature cooperates. These views are from the beach, the balcony or the large picture windows.
