Preguntas frecuentes
Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Barb Janssen
I grew up in Northwest Iowa and after visiting La Crosse in 1992 decided to make it my home. I spent seven years in residence life at two universities before moving to La Crosse to start my own business (DO4U Home & Garden Services). In 2006, I purchased this unique home just down the street from mine. I immediately began receiving requests for tours of this Lustron home and decided this home & its history needed to be shared with as many people as possible. Since 2006, I've rented this home mostly as a furnished short-term rental. Most recently, I've focused on monthly rental opportunities, but the house is available for shorter stays between the longer reservations.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
After growing up in rural Iowa and 11 years in university cities, this particular neighborhood is the best of all worlds. There is easy access to all the city/regional amenities plus it is right next to Myrick Park, UW-La Crosse, the marsh and Hixon Forest trails. Many homes, including Bluff View House have an amazing view of Grandad Bluff!
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
Centrally located in La Crosse makes this a convenient location. Just a half block from Hwy 16 creates easy access. Guests can sit on the porch and listen to the State Track meet or other events at the UW-L stadium. The house is just minutes from the Mississippi river and boat launch facilities. This is a quiet residential neighborhood. Bluff View House is on a large (80' wide) city lot which includes a vegetable garden, apple trees and raspberry plants. Plenty of parking and yard space to relax or play games. Bicycles (5 adult and 3 smaller) are available for guests to use.
This house is built with space efficiency in mind so there are pocket doors, built ins, and cabinets that extend to the ceiling. Many guests note how much larger it is than they expected. The house is 100% porcelain enamel. There is no wood or drywall. After WWII these homes were designed due to the housing shortage and the man who had built metal gas stations prior to the war couldn't get approval to access steel unless he was building homes. He then designed a prefabricated home with 3000 pieces of steel. The home is energy efficient, quiet and built to last. Important updates have occurred including a high efficiency furnace and central air while maintaining historical integrity. Flooring and appliances have been updated over the years.
