The vacation rental is located on the outskirts of Hesel in East Frisia. Geographically, it lies between Leer (15 km away) and Aurich (22 km away), which are the nearest major shopping towns. As a cycling region with flat terrain and a well-developed network of bike paths right outside the door, biking is a real pleasure. Horseback riders can enjoy their hobby at the nearby riding stable. Hesel boasts the largest contiguous forest area in East Frisia and is perfect for long, relaxing hikes or walks. There’s plenty to discover in the Hesel Forest, such as the ruins of the former monastery, a forest adventure playground, a tree nature trail, and, of course, the local flora and fauna. A small highlight is the hand-cranked ferry, which you can operate yourself to cross from one bank to the other. The fully functional Dutch windmill in Holtland offers tours on Sundays from May through October at the mill café, along with a view from the mill gallery. A visit to the water park provides information—through exhibits and display panels—on all topics related to drinking water, as well as the history and technology of water supply.

The Hesel vacation region also has plenty to offer culturally: A small archaeological exhibition provides insights into early settlement, dating back to the 13th century. In the shopping town of Leer, we have a local history museum, a tea museum, and the museum harbor with historic ships and harbor tours. Right next to the harbor is Leer’s historic old town, and the Leer Miniature World showcases East Frisia—from the inland areas to the coast and the islands—all in miniature format across 1,200 m².

Throughout the year, there’s plenty going on in and around the region: Some highlights include the summer festival at Gut Stikelkamp, the harvest festival (Sept./Oct.) in Hesel, East Frisia’s largest fair, the Gallimarkt (mid-Oct.) and the Tour Skippers’ Meeting in Leer, ship transfers of luxury liners from the Meyer shipyard, the Park der Gärten for sightseeing and/or events, small museums here and there, etc....



Jantje Vacation Rental (Ground Floor/Upper Floor):

A beautiful and tastefully furnished vacation rental on two floors on the outskirts of Hesel (a town with approx. 4,000 residents). The upper floor of the vacation rental features a kitchen-living room and two bedrooms. The kitchen-living room is equipped with a dishwasher, electric kettle, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and egg cooker. The kitchen-living room furnishings include a cozy living room set and a built-in kitchen with a dining table and four chairs.
A flat-screen TV (32 inches) and a DVD player/radio are available. The bedroom features a double bed (1.80 m x 2.00 m) with a closet and an extra bed (which can be set up for overnight stays, but only in the kitchen-living area). The second bedroom has a single bed (0.90 m x 2.00 m). The bathroom on the first floor features a shower (step height 26 cm) and a toilet, a mirror cabinet, and a vanity cabinet with storage space. In the entryway downstairs, there is a pantry and storage cabinet containing bed linens, towels, a vacuum cleaner, etc. As a laundry service, the landlord offers, upon request, one wash cycle in the washing machine followed by drying on a clothes rack for 3.00 EUR. The vacation rental includes a cozy seating area in the garden, right next to the garden pond, with patio furniture and a grill.



Utilities such as electricity and gas are billed based on consumption!



Check-in is from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and check-out is from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
