In honor of his four daughters, three symbolic roses (plus a bud) still adorn the gable of the house today. <br>First mentioned in a document in 1318 as the fishing village of Byntze, Binz is the largest seaside resort on the island of Rügen and is situated on one of the island’s most enchanting bays, the Prorer Wiek. Flanked by the expansive woodlands of the Schmale Heide and the Granitz—home to the picturesque hunting lodge—the town nestles against the reed-lined shore of Lake Schmachter to the west, while facing the Baltic Sea to the east. Its sheltered location, wide, fine-sand beach, rocky-free seabed, and gentle surf make Binz a popular beach paradise. <br><br>The beach promenade, with its unique seaside architecture, and the Baltic Sea beach are directly accessible through the property’s garden.
