Attention: Mountain hut (holiday house) available again for the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg!
Reach the race in 20 minutes via back roads—no traffic jams. This is one of the last lovely accommodations close to the Red Bull Ring, boasting a quiet, beautiful location and view. Available for rent for all 4 nights, from Thursday, June 25, to Monday, June 29.
(Please note that a campsite pitch for 4 people alone is €990; with a tent and bed 2 x €1,390 = €2,780—see GPTENTS.)
There is also the option to book additional nights 1–2 weeks before the race weekend begins, at the standard nightly rate.
Please submit inquiries for all 4 nights: June 25–29. The booking system lists a 2-night minimum stay, because our holiday home otherwise often fails to appear in search results. Guests should speak good German or English.
Designed for 1–5 people, this mountain cabin/holiday home sits on a small ridge at an altitude of 1,300 meters and is furnished with great attention to detail. It features a compact yet excellent kitchen and a living/dining area with a pellet stove that creates a cozy atmosphere with its glowing fire in the evening. The private, 30-square-meter sun terrace—offering a stunning view of the surrounding mountains (often snow-capped well into June)—is directly accessible from the living room. A deck chair and a sun lounger are provided.
Upstairs, there is a double bed in a large open-plan area featuring a sofa with views of the mountains and the starry sky through a large picture window, as well as a cozy separate room with two single beds. Children love the hidden room, which is accessed through a wardrobe. Under the sloping roof, there is also a "sleeping nook" suitable for 1–2 people. Heating and electricity are provided by a solar power system, making the stay climate-neutral. Children can experience nature up close—right in the forest or by the nearby stream.
All shopping facilities and medical services in the Murtal region can be reached by car in about 15 minutes. Gourmets are well catered for: there are several award-winning restaurants nearby—such as those at the Farrach and Gabelhofen castles—as well as the world-champion pastry shop Regner in the monastic village of Seckau.
A pass is available (€75/€35) offering free admission to 162 excursion destinations worth €1,600.
Additional amenities: Wi-Fi, shower/WC, stove, fridge with freezer compartment, pellet stove, grill with cast-iron grate, TV (currently streaming via laptop only), parking in front of the house; non-smoking house; dogs welcome.
Cancellation is free of charge if travel is impossible due to government-imposed COVID-19 restrictions (e.g., if your district/city or the holiday home's location is under lockdown).
We look forward to inquiries from pleasant, friendly, and reliable guests looking to relax. While we love a good party, this isn't the right place for one. Our house is not part of a dedicated rental complex; we have known and valued our neighbors for years, so we ask that you treat everyone courteously. :-) We are a family from Vienna.

Further information:
Our house is situated on the "Römerweg" (Roman Way), a very old trade route. You can still see the ruts left by horse-drawn wagons in the rock today. To reach the Stüblergut inn—a fascinating fortified farmhouse dating back to the 14th century—you can take a 45-minute hike from the house across alpine meadows along this fairytale-like path, ultimately rewarding yourself with Austrian delicacies prepared by a star chef! Every weekend, they host the "Rauchkuchlschmaus," a grand buffet featuring Austrian cuisine. Visit the Lipizzaner horses in their summer pasture, the Hundertwasser Church in Bärnbach, the Star Tower in Judenburg, events at the Red Bull Formula 1 Ring, the Oberzeiring silver mine, or the UNESCO World Heritage city of Graz, with its cultural attractions and Mediterranean flair.
Families with children and sports enthusiasts can enjoy a wide range of activities: the Gaberl ski area (ski school), horseback riding, mountain biking, a summer toboggan run, the Aqualux thermal baths, an indoor playground, a treetop walk, the Mur Valley Cycle Path, an outdoor pool, a swimming lake, golf, and much more. We are happy to share plenty of valuable insider tips with you!
