Welcome to our "Anno 1926 Vacation Rental" at Taubenschlag

Our vacation rental is located in Mertesdorf, the oldest wine-growing village in the Ruwer Valley, near Trier, Germany’s oldest city. Thanks to excellent bus service, you can reach downtown Trier every 30 minutes from the bus stop right next to the vacation rental.

Our “Taubenschlag” vacation rental is a lovingly renovated apartment located in the attic of our house. It’s a cozy apartment with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. It may not be ideal for very tall people due to the ceiling height (2 m) in the entryway and bathroom, but there’s plenty of headroom in the living room, bedroom, and kitchen.
In addition, there are shopping options in the neighboring town, which you can also easily reach by bus.
In the Ruwer district (3 km away), you’ll find a doctor’s office and a pharmacy, as well as a Sparkasse and a Volksbank. There is an ice cream parlor in town, about 500 m from the vacation rental.
As for recreational activities, the outdoor swimming pool is located at the entrance to town (1.5 km) and is open during the summer months from May through early September. The Ruwer Bike Path also begins at the entrance to town. An old railroad right-of-way has been converted into a bike path (40 km), and it takes you through idyllic countryside over paths and bridges along the Ruwer (a tributary of the Moselle) all the way to the Hunsrück. The tourist information office is also located along the bike path in the neighboring town of Kasel.
