Stylish and bright apartment in a listed half-timbered house with a large garden

The vacation rental is located on the upper floor of the house. From the hallway, there is a separate staircase leading to the rental. We live on the first floor with our two children and are always happy to help if you have any questions. We are non-smokers and do not have any pets.

The house stands on a property of nearly 8,000 square meters with a large, natural garden, old oak trees, fruit trees, and a pond. From the yard, you’ll enjoy an unobstructed view to the west over meadows and fields, with stunning evening scenery. A true rural idyll awaits you, and it’s amazing how vibrant and diverse the flora and fauna in our garden are. Depending on the season, you can expect to see migrating cranes and storks, a calling cuckoo, croaking frogs, bats in the evening sky, and an impressive starry sky at night... and of course, not to be forgotten: plenty of peace, inspiration, and relaxation in between.

The vacation rental features a bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200 cm) and a sleeping alcove with a bed (140 x 200 cm). The bed in the alcove is placed against the wall, so it’s accessible from only one side. This makes it best suited for cozy couples, perhaps children, or even single travelers.

The kitchen is equipped with virtually all the utensils needed for cooking and baking. A gas stove with an electric oven and a dishwasher are available for your use.

In the front part of the property, on a lawn beneath old apple trees, you’ll find your own private area with patio furniture for sitting, dining, and relaxing.
Unfortunately, the rear areas of the large garden (including the pond and another former barn) as well as the terraces attached to the house are not accessible to our guests.

Weitsche is a small village located between Lüchow and Dannenberg in the heart of the beautiful Wendland region. In the village, under the linden trees, there is a boules court where you can play. Sheep, cattle, and horses graze in the surrounding pastures.

The surrounding area is perfect for walks and longer bike rides. The Elbe River and the Elbe Valley floodplains—featuring the famous Elbe Cycle Route and the historic Dömitz railway bridge—are about 18 km away. Road cyclists will find an endless network of small, well-paved, and quiet roads in this sparsely populated region. Bicycles can be stored here in a weather-protected area.

In Jameln, about 6 km from here, you can enjoy a wonderful meal in a thatched-roof half-timbered house dating back to 1719, surrounded by a unique atmosphere. In the summer, in Mützingen (15 km), every Wednesday and Friday, a beer garden featuring fantastic DIY grassroots architecture under sun sails serves wood-fired pizza paired with delicious Wendlandbräu. Every Thursday, the left-leaning country inn in Meuchefitz opens its doors and serves vegetarian fare. We also recommend the Bauernstuben in Trebel near the Nemitzer Heide.

In Platenlaase (7 km), you’ll find the cultural association Café Grenzbereiche, which features an arthouse cinema and various events and concerts.

The small Elbe port town of Hitzacker, with its historic old town and a fantastic view of the Elbe from the vineyard, is a great place to visit. Another lovely destination is Gartow, with its lake, a Baroque church, the count’s estate, a game reserve, and art exhibitions in an old granary in the lake valley.
