Information about the area

The seaside resort of Sellin, with its popular seaside architecture, is situated in a particularly scenic location on the east coast of Germany’s largest and most beautiful island. Since the turn of the century, Sellin has been one of the most famous seaside resorts. The resort is bordered by the wide South Beach, the cliffs, beech and mixed forests, and Lake Sellin. The magnificent villas and guesthouses along Wilhelmstraße date back to the heyday of this Baltic Sea resort. Many of them have been restored in recent years with great attention to detail. Elaborately decorated wooden porches characterize the villa facades from the last century, which have now been fully restored. The 394-meter-long pier, with its magnificent structures, has also been rebuilt. Located at the upper end of Wilhelmstraße, it is a major attraction for both Rügen vacationers and locals. The nearby Granitz Hunting Lodge offers a magnificent view over the Mönchgut Peninsula with its Bodden landscape, across the Baltic Sea resort of Binz, and all the way to the chalk cliffs. Sellin, the second-largest seaside resort on the island of Rügen, is the gateway to the Mönchgut Peninsula and is located in the heart of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve.
