A garden with mature trees surrounds the beautiful brick building dating from the 19th century. Where students once learned new things, you can now enjoy a vacation.
A children’s playground is just 100 meters away—and upon request, we can also provide Kapla blocks, Legos, Playmobil, early-reader books, or beach toys!
Right outside the south-facing patio door, you have a wonderful view of the neighbor’s park-like garden. In front of the building, you’ll find your own private garden area with an old walnut and chestnut tree surrounded by rhododendrons. A true gem in the countryside.
The house was built in 1870 as a school building, and its modern architecture at the time was intended to symbolize a new beginning. It has been owned by the Colmant family for over 50 years and underwent a comprehensive renovation in accordance with historic preservation standards a few years ago.
The light-filled building, with two bedrooms and a spacious living room, offers plenty of room to breathe. The elegant oak parquet flooring, the plants, and the light-colored fabrics lend the rooms a stylish, cozy atmosphere.
The large dining table and the kitchen invite you to cook together and enjoy convivial evenings. Particularly charming are the small reminders of the building’s former use—large maps and display boards from its days as a school. But there certainly wasn’t this wonderful tranquility back in the day, when the children played during recess and the school bell rang.
Not far from the lodging, Café Theatrium offers homemade cake, and Haus Peters—a general store from the same era—provides a cultural program for some variety.
At the nearby sheep’s milk cheese dairy, you can enjoy local delicacies. Bike tours and excursions to the Wadden Sea or to Husum offer plenty of opportunities for nature lovers and foodies alike.
The region captivates with its stunning natural beauty and fresh air, which leaves you wonderfully tired in the evening as you sink into your cozy beds.
And so it feels twice as much like a vacation when you think every morning of the house motto—“always a day off from school.” Because here, you can get up whenever you want and enjoy the day without a schedule.
