Break Out of the Routine
A getaway close to nature offers a respite from the stress of everyday life. A few days in an inspiring setting can change your perspective on the familiar.
The Parkblick vacation rental is located on the first floor of Villa Meier and measures just under 120 square meters. It is furnished to accommodate up to 6 adults and features two bedrooms with large double beds as well as fold-out beds in the living room (a travel crib for children can be provided).
The industrialist’s villa, built in 1890, has undergone numerous changes over the past 130 years. As a result, a mix of styles has emerged over time. The current owner has embraced and continued this style. Experience an apartment featuring a blend of new and old furniture, including a regal four-poster bed.
You’ll be greeted by a spacious entryway where you can comfortably store your luggage. The “Tower Room” is small but charming, featuring a modern double bed (1.80 m x 2.0 m), while the “Count Himmelreich” room boasts a four-poster bed (1.90 m x 2.15 m) made of turned wood. In the “Frisch&Frei” bathroom, birds of paradise brighten your day.
Start your day together in the large kitchen-diner, featuring an antique table and a contemporary kitchenette, and wind down in the living room with board games by the wood-burning stove or while watching TV.
Villa Meier is located at the foot of the Röseberg, right on the Karst Hiking Trail. The trail passes very close by the Röseteich, one of the approximately 50 “monastery ponds” that still exist today. The property, which spans more than one hectare, borders the Priorteich-Sachsenstein nature reserve on two sides, placing it right in the heart of nature. Nevertheless, the center of Walkenried and the train station are within walking distance. For example, the hunting lodge is only 450 m away, the monastery 650 m, and the pharmacy, butcher, and bakery are about 700 m away.
Walkenried gained fame through the Walkenried Monastery, a former Cistercian abbey, and is located on the southern edge of the Harz Mountains near the tri-state border of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Today, the monastery serves as a museum and event venue—for example, hosting the popular cloister concerts—and features a café. Since 2010, the monastery complex has been an UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the Rammelsberg Mine, the Old Town of Goslar, and the Upper Harz Water Management System.
Right in front of the monastery, you’ll find the tourist information office and the UNESCO World Heritage Information Center in Walkenried in the Harz Mountains.
