The vacation rental is located in the far northeastern part of the municipality of Udine, surrounded by greenery—yet it is only 3 km from the Udine Nord highway exit and just 7 km from downtown Udine. The apartment is on the first floor of a former 14th-century monastery, which was restored by the (South Tyrolean) owner family with great care and respect for the architectural history of Friuli.
The property includes an enclosed plot of over 2 ha, of which 3,000 m² of garden and meadow lie within the old crenellated wall. The vacation rental features a small, secluded garden with outdoor furniture, from which the rest of the property—including the pool, sunbathing area, and shower—is easily accessible.
The property is situated in a completely quiet location on the plain at the foot of the hills and is an ideal starting point for cyclists, joggers, and hikers, as it borders directly on the Parco del Torre with its walking and biking trails.
You can see the mountains on the border with Slovenia and the Colli Orientali del Friuli with their famous vineyards; guests interested in culture will appreciate the short distances to Cividale, Gorizia, and Trieste—home to Miramare Castle—or the opportunity for a day trip to Venice.
In the immediate vicinity, you’ll find Michelin-starred restaurants (1.5 km) as well as traditional trattorias and agriturismi, where regional dishes are served alongside excellent wines at an outstanding value.
The coast, with the towns of Grado and Lignano, is just a 45-minute drive from the property, as are the ski resorts of Zoncolan, Tarvisio, Monte Lussari, and Nassfeld in Carinthia, which can be reached in 45–60 minutes in winter via the highway—which is usually empty at that time of year.
The border with Slovenia is about a 35-minute drive away; there, too, you’ll find beautiful and (still) uncrowded biking and hiking trails to explore.
Throughout the vacation rental’s property, there are horses, geese, cats, and two royal poodles; the neighbor also has peacocks, geese, ducks, and a sheep. So if you’re looking to escape big-city smog, hustle and bustle, and traffic noise in search of clean air in a natural setting—and want the freedom to decide for yourself when and if you’d like to enjoy an aperitif on the lively and beautiful Piazza San Giacomo in the center of Udine—you’ll feel right at home here.?
