The Wangermeer is picturesquely situated in the beautiful countryside of the Wangerland region on the North Sea, on the northern edge of Hohenkirchen. This lake, which covers about 100 hectares, features a round island that can be reached on foot or by bike via a 325-meter-long promenade bridge. Hohenkirchen is a true vacation paradise, just a stone’s throw from the North Sea coast. Here you’ll find endless sandy beaches, fun and games for all ages, and ideal conditions for bike tours through the wonderful Wangerland.
The 200-kilometer-long bike paths, which are part of the international North Sea Cycle Route, offer you a unique experience of nature. They lead along the dikes and through idyllic villages in the Wadden Sea, an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. No matter the season, nature here reveals its diverse and impressive side.
