Come visit us and
experience nature up close
Spend some relaxing days along the Saale River and enjoy the peace and beauty of the surroundings.
Enjoy the view of two castles—whether from the beer garden right on the Saale, from our private boat dock with your feet in the water, or from the wooden deck—and let the day come to a close with a romantic sunset, accompanied by the chirping of crickets and the splashing of fish.
Pack your bike, inflatable boat, or swimsuit and explore the area around the beautiful Saale Valley.
Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a connoisseur, or a lover of wine, culture, or nature—you’ll find everything you’re looking for here.
In the bird sanctuary, you can spot just about every native bird species... Larks, eagle owls, kestrels, or nightingales—there’s always something going on here.
Load your boat (or rent one) and set out on the Saale River in Camburg.
After about four hours of leisurely drifting—perhaps with a stop in Kaatschen at the Zahn Winery—you’ll arrive back at the Fährhaus, where you can decide whether to stay in the garden, ask about the in-house grill, or have dinner at the Rudelsburg above.
No matter where you go, you’re guaranteed a spectacular view.
The next day, hop on your bike and ride via Saaleck and Rudelsburg along the shaded forest trail to Bad Kösen, and from there along the “Wine Mile” all the way to Rossbach.
There, you’ll sample the wines at the Herzer Winery. Along the way, you’ll come across a few wine taverns.
Afterward, you can easily cycle from there to Naumburg and visit the Naumburg Cathedral, an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The return route via Almrich to the Fischhaus restaurant is mostly an idyllic bike path running directly along the Saale River. You might even spot one of the rare black storks.
From the Fischhaus, a path leads directly to the Schulpforte monastery complex—which is definitely worth seeing—including a plane tree in its park that’s about 200 years old.
From there, a bike path leads all the way to Bad Kösen.
Café Schoppe serves delicious, homemade cakes that you shouldn’t miss—and that you’ve truly earned after this tour.
Villa Ilske and the Wilhelmsburg invite you to enjoy dinner with a varied menu and a breathtaking view of Bad Kösen.
For a relaxing day, we recommend a visit to the salt graduation tower in Bad Kösen or Bad Sulza, as well as the art installation, which was recently renovated.
Afterward, head to the zoo next to the spa gardens and from there board the electric motorboat.
This boat will take you on a leisurely cruise upriver on the Saale, past Rudelsburg Castle, to the dock at Karina’s log cabin.
There, in addition to homemade cake and potato salad, you’ll find a soccer field, a ping-pong table, and other ways to spend a peaceful afternoon.
From there, it’s just a stone’s throw back to the Fährhaus.
On rainy days, we recommend a visit to the thermal baths in Bad Sulza or the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen in the Kyffhäuser District.
As its name suggests, the Burgenlandkreis also has plenty of other sights to offer. One castle after another, each with its own charm and history.
