Spend your vacation in one of France’s most authentic regions—Burgundy.
Half an hour from Vézelay, our guesthouse is located in a quiet hamlet surrounded by meadows and forests. The Morvan National Park, lakes, and authentic French villages invite you to explore. Just a few minutes from Varzy lies our traditional stone house, “La Grande,” which was extensively renovated in 2024 and converted into a stylish guesthouse. Sancerre, Auxerre, Avallon, Nevers, the Morvan, Clamecy, and many other beautiful towns and regions are about an hour’s drive away and are perfect for enjoyable day trips. The Loire River is also less than an hour away. Be sure to plan a visit to the charming little town of Vézelay, marvel at Guédelon, and visit the old oil mill in Donzy.
Accommodations:
The traditional stone house is equipped to accommodate up to six people and is divided into two floors and an attic. In the large kitchen, the floor has been meticulously restored with antique tomettes tiles, and a new kitchen has been installed, featuring a kitchen island, a large refrigerator with a freezer compartment, and a dishwasher. The former monastery table seats plenty of people, guaranteeing a cozy get-together. The kitchen is fully equipped. Among other things, you’ll find a wide selection of pots and baking pans, a hand blender, toaster, and electric kettle, a coffee maker, microwave, dishes, and glasses, as well as a Teufel Bluetooth internet radio. During the colder months, you can light the fireplace in the kitchen and living room. The house has Wi-Fi with a fiber-optic connection and a bandwidth that easily supports remote work.
Right next to the kitchen is the living room, featuring two sofas facing each other directly in front of the fireplace. The antique built-in cabinet, a “Jakobiner,” contains an extensive collection of games (in German) and various items for our younger guests, such as a large Brio train set, Duplo, and TipToi books (in German).
From the living room, a staircase leads to the open-concept upper floor, which features a high-quality double bed (180x200) and a sleeper sofa (140x200). The exposed beams make this room wonderfully cozy. On the upper level, you’ll also find the large bathroom with a shower stall and a separate toilet.
A staircase leads to the maisonette area, where you’ll find another double bed (160x200). Please note that the bedrooms and floors are not separated by doors.
The guesthouse is nestled in a large garden. Beneath the weeping willow is a beautiful terrace where you’ll find both shaded and sunny spots. Dogs are very welcome here! The property will be fenced in this spring to make your stay with your dog as relaxing as possible.
If you’d like to spend your vacation with several people or families, you have the option of renting a second guesthouse, which is located a short distance away from “La Grande.” You can find this house in our other listings.
We look forward to your inquiry and à bientôt ...
