This charming maisonette holiday flat on the edge of the village of Heiden, situated at approx. 700 metres above sea level and thus approx. 300 metres above Lake Constance, offers space for up to 4 people and is ideal for families or small groups looking for a break in a picturesque setting. The house is located approx. 2 minutes outside the village and is best reached by car, for which a garage and an outside parking space are available. The flat is located on the third floor, which is accessed via a staircase, and is characterised by its 3 carefully furnished bedrooms, all of which can be darkened to ensure a restful night's sleep. An internal staircase (not suitable for small children, see photos) provides access to the rooms on the top floor and the private terrace.
Accommodates up to 4 guests and is ideal for those seeking a quiet getaway in a picturesque setting. Due to the traditional construction typical of the Appenzell region, footstep noise is transmitted directly to the apartment below. We kindly ask you to take this into consideration and to observe quiet hours from 10:00 p.m., allowing the neighbors their night’s rest.
The roof terrace, which is for exclusive use, is a particular highlight and provides the ideal setting for cosy dinners in the open air or simply for relaxing. Here you can watch the kites soaring in the thermals. Let your gaze wander over the Rhine delta, the plain as far as the Austrian town of Bregenz, the Pfänder or the German island of Lindau. From the terrace, the bedrooms, the dining table and the sofa, you have a wonderful view of the surrounding meadows and pastures. Cows, alpacas, sheep and goats graze here, and there is also a small horse farm directly behind the house.
The bathroom is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet (Closomat) and a bathtub with shower, which provides relaxation after a long day of exploring the surroundings.
The kitchen is equipped with a hob with extractor fan, a spacious fridge, an oven and a dishwasher. The necessary utensils for a cosy fondue or raclette are also available.
There is plenty to discover in the area surrounding the holiday flat. Lake Constance is only about 5 kilometres away, making water sports activities or relaxing days by the water easily accessible. Hiking trails lead right past the house and the surrounding area can also be explored on foot in several directions. In the middle of Heiden is the swimming pool, where cinema evenings are also held in summer. Just outside Heiden is the Appenzell spa with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna and wellness facilities.
The nearest village centre is only 1 km away for daily needs or long walks, and there is a grocery shop 2 km away for shopping. Coop and Migros in Heiden have a wide range of products and plenty of underground car parking spaces. The Volg shop in Wolfhalden, which can be reached in 4 minutes, is open from Monday to Saturday until 21:00, while local bakeries and cafés are open on Sundays.
The Wartheim maisonette holiday flat offers the perfect setting for an unforgettable stay for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the Appenzell Lake Constance region and the idyllic tranquillity above the Rhine delta. Heiden offers an ideal starting point for excursions to Rorschach, Arbon, Romanshorn, Friedrichshafen (e.g. by ferry), or to the Pfänder, the Alpstein region, Appenzell or St.Gallen. If you can't decide on a destination, a walk to the Fünfländerblick, from where you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the area, may help.
