The property is a beautiful, peaceful retreat - the perfect place to switch off, rest, and escape the stresses of everyday life. It truly feels like a hidden gem: tucked away from the hustle and bustle, yet still conveniently close to supermarkets and restaurants in Potes, a lovely and friendly village just 1 km away.Sonia is a wonderful host and makes everything incredibly easy. She provides directions, maps, ideas, tips, and recommendations, so there’s hardly any need to plan ahead - she’ll happily tell you everything worth seeing and doing in the area. We enjoyed some beautiful hikes, took the cable car up into the mountains, and also spent long afternoons reading on the veranda, escaping the heat and soaking up the peaceful surroundings.The Picos de Europa are absolutely breathtaking and still feel wonderfully undiscovered. Sonia’s apartment is the perfect base for exploring the region. We had a truly perfect week and were genuinely sad to come home.The only small downside is that, as the house is old and full of character, it does creak quite a lot, and some of the furniture creaks too. It certainly wouldn’t stop us from staying again, but it’s worth knowing if you’re a very light sleeper.
