We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Barn Owl Lodge in Bantham. The owners, Annette and Barry, are incredibly warm and welcoming hosts. The lodge itself is surprisingly spacious, spotlessly clean, and exceptionally well-equipped with everything we could possibly need for a self-catering holiday—right down to the beautifully sharp kitchen knives that made meal prep a breeze! They really have thought of everything, both for us and our dog.Set in a spectacularly idyllic position, the grounds are breathtaking. One of our favourite daily rituals was taking the lovely, peaceful walk down through the fields to the large, scenic pond and summerhouse. It truly feels like your own private nature reserve. If you are travelling with a four-legged friend, this place is absolutely ideal. Our dog, Coco, spent hours sitting in the fully enclosed garden, utterly mesmerised by the rabbits running around in the adjacent field. Having that secure space gave us total peace of mind.We were blessed with fabulous weather during our stay, which made exploring the local area even more magical. The walk from the lodge down to the stunning Bantham Beach is lovely and takes a scenic 40 minutes—perfect for working up an appetite. Plus, there’s a fantastic coffee shop just as you come into the village which is well worth a stop!Thank you, Annette and Barry, for sharing your beautiful slice of Devon with us. We couldn't have asked for a better holiday!
