Excellent Location

We just spent 10 wonderful days at Vivenda Gomes and loved every minute. Unfortunately we were not able to use the expansive yard much because of high winds and rain but it was wonderful looking out the window every morning and at times watching the fickle Terceiran weather!If you want to experience a traditional Azorean home with modern touches and amenities, then this is the right place to book. It has everything you need including a fully stocked kitchen, lots of towels, bedding and many English speaking choices on the television. A heater is included which was welcome as we did have some cooler days due to the high winds. There was always plenty of hot water for our showers.The home is a very short walk to the seaside and there is parking on the road which is no problem at all. Instructions for the keybox were easy. A welcome added bonus was the pantry which you have to access going out the back door but it held the washer/dryer combo. Knowing this is available, makes packing light even better.A large grocery store is only 6 km away and despite one of the snackbar/bars being closed for January, there are two other within 250 meters walking in Porto Martins. The closed snackbar was just 100 meters away and is a good stop to enjoy the view.Paulo was easy to reach and replied immediately. We would highly recommend a stay at Vivenda Gomes in one of the prettiest towns on the island. Thank you Paulo!

Such a beautiful place serene huge property made it seem like a Villa very nice outside yard.

Location walking distance to beach and nearby excellent restaurant but also close to the city of Praia and all it has to offer. Highly recommend it. Only Thimg to consider is there was only one bathroom but for moderate size group like ours-5, was ok.

Great stay, wonderful home

We had a wonderful stay at the Vivienda Gomes. There were 5 of us, who fit comfortably with room for more. More family was staying in another property near by, and they often ended up eating meals with us and enjoying the large back patio eating area. The home was nice and clean, close to the water and a swimming area and close to a good restaurant. We enjoyed not being in the middle of Angra during the Festa week, and didn't feel it was too far to drive in to enjoy the festivities. Paulo was helpful and a pleasure to talk to, e even had an opportunity to meet his wonderful mother. We would definitely stay there again.

A perfect stay

Words cannot adequately express how much we enjoyed our stay in Vivenda Gomes. It was wonderful. The house itself is a little gem of a traditional Azorian home, but with modern updates to provide all possible comforts. The fact that there was a washing machine meant that I didn't have to pack so many clothes. The house is within easy walking distance of the natural swimming pool, a great café and a terrific restaurant. Our host, Paolo Gomes, was so kind. He was attentive to our every need, and went above and beyond to assure that we were comfortable and entertained. Some examples: we expressed interst in the bullfights - a schedule appeared; we mentioned that we were musicians - a guitar appeared; we asked about how to get a pay-as-you- go phone - one was loaned to us; we said we preferred not to rent a car - the bus schedule was provided, as well as the taxi dispatch number. Paulo and both of his parents checked up on us periodically to see if we needed everything. They are sweet, kind people. The inhabitants of the village of Porto Martins are beautiful: open, friendly, kind and generous. In just two weeks, we feel that we have made life-long friends. From our first evening, we were invited to the homes of people to share fun, good food and drink, and you can always find someone interesting to talk to at the café. It was a truly magical experience. We can't wait to come back.

Loved our stay at Villa Gomes!!!!!!!

Amazing location, within walking distance to the ocean! Beautiful property! Owner was very kind and helpful, he even called a rental car for us! We loved our stay at Villa Gomes and would highly recommend. We would love to stay here again someday , only longer next time : )

Hello,

My name is Paulo Gomes, I am on the right side of the profile photo. I am a native of Terceira Island, I was born in 1982 and I'm an environmental engineer. At the moment I am working as a holiday rental manager.
I am passionate about nature and particularly by sea, I love to surf and sail on my boat.
I am also passionate about music, I started playing guitar at age 14 and never stopped. I Currently play in 3 groups.
I also love traveling, I have had the privilege of visiting almost half of Europe and to visit countries such as Brazil and the United States of America.
Like almost all natives of Terceira island, I like to treat well those who visit us and show the best of what this land has to offer.

In the photograph on the left side is my father, Ilídio Gomes 77 years. Together we manage Villa Gomes with the goal of providing our guests an unforgettable experience.
Ilídio is also a lover of the sea and nature, loves to fish and sail. He also loves playing music and was one of the founders of the oldest band of the Azores and one of the oldest in Portugal and perhaps the world - Os Sombras.
Ilídio also has a talent for the fine arts, he's a painter. Almost all the paintings that decorate the house were painted by him.
