CASA CON ENCANTO CON PISCINA EXCELENTE CERCA DEL GRAN COLOMBIER.

La casa construida en 1903 está al borde de una hermosa aldea y a 2 km de las tiendas, con un gran jardín y hermosas vistas de largo alcance. Al pie del Gran Colombier (Tour de Francia), a 12 millas del lago du Bourget, a una hora de Ginebra y Lyon;
Nuestra segunda casa rural está idealmente situada para los amantes del deporte (ciclismo de carretera, VTT, deportes acuáticos, senderismo, pesca con mosca, equitación ...), naturaleza y degustación de vinos (hay vides de uva en el fondo del jardín y productor de vino a 100 m de distancia y otras 10 en un radio de 6 millas).
Ideal para familias con niños de todas las edades y mascotas, el albergue está equipado con columpios, tenis de mesa, mesa de billar americano, piscina privada orientada al sur (10 X 5 metros), juegos de pelotas y juegos de "petanca".
La "casa de la vieja escuela" es un auténtico escondite francés relajante en una hermosa parte desconocida de Francia.

Fantastic property with lovely pool and amazing views! We hadn't visited this part of France before, but we absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. The scenery was stunning...mountains, lakes. The property itself was lovely, super clean, and with everything you could need. Our teenager absolutely loved the hot tub and the pool table. Claude's wine was fabulous, so I'd definitely recommend a tasting session!Thank you to Sarah and Claude who were super hosts and gave us so many ideas of things to do. But really we could have just stayed by the pool all week looking at the view!!!

Peaceful Summer Retreat

Such a lovely place to stay, absolutely amazing views and so close to Col du Grand Colombier. A 10 min drive to Culoz where you can get a cheap 1hr train journey to Geneva, or slightly longer to Lyon. Would recommend to anyone and also would stay again without hesitation! Just fix the oven!! Dan.

Superb in Every Way

This Gite is spacious and well fitted out, in a beautiful, peaceful setting within easy train or car distance of Lyon, Geneva and regional towns that are well worth visiting - Chamonix and Annesee for example. Local village meets all shopping needs. Our hosts, Sarah and Claude were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. They and the Gite and location made it a 5 week trip to remember.

Awesome home and hosts!

From the moment we arrived, greeted by Sarah, fresh flowers, sunny rooms, a lovely pool with vineyard vistas, a well-equipped kitchen, and charming bedrooms, we were in heaven!! We enjoyed a magical week with our boys and their wives, thanks to Sarah and Claude, who recommended favorite restaurants and places to see/things to do, all of which were wonderful. We especially loved The Belvedere restaurant overlooking Lac Bourget, wine tasting with the neighbor vintner Claude Collomb, and exploring the Grand Columbiere with unbelievable views of Mont Blanc. We hope to return some day!

Two great weeks in beautiful surroundings

We (a family of 6) had two outstanding weeks in and around the house. Sarah & Claude are very nice hosts and the house delivered everything as promised. Apart from using the brilliant 10m pool with the wonderful view on the Grand Colombier we made good use of the table tennis and pool billard opportunities. The area itself is astonishing, hiking in the mountains to serveral gorges and waterfalls and canoeing were the main highlights. Lac de Bourget is also worth visiting. Fantastic once again

This was our second time staying at Sarah & Claude’s gites, the property was fantastic, everything that we could have wished for. The swimming pool is just lovely, with views of the mountains and right next to the local vineyard, we spent so many hours in and around the pool, we loved it so much we booked for next year. The Gite has a pool table, table tennis, trampoline and climbing frame so helped keep the kids entertained when not in the pool. There are many local lakes which quite and peaceful, if you into cycling you have so many miles of great roads to explore and can climb the Grand Colombier from 4 different routes, on a clear day the view from the Grand Colombier is spectacular, watching sunset with a 360 degree view is amazing, with Mont Blanc in the distance. There are so many things to keep you entertained whilst you stay, from local walks, parcore to canyoning depending how energetic you feel. Sarah & Claude are tremendous hosts and make sure that you have a lovely break. A trip to the local vineyard to sample the wines is well worth it, and allows you to stock up for your stay. As a family we totally recommend this area and the Gite.

Sadly substandard

Positives: Location is beautiful. We enjoyed the pool. We appreciated that the owners replaced a broken dryer at short notice. We were warmly welcomed with complimentary Prosecco. Negatives: The house was very dirty. If we could upload our photos, you would see: -Mouldy shower which flooded as not properly fitted (not other guests putting soap down it as the owner stated) -Mouldy and stained outdoor cushions for outdoor -Dirty kitchen items with food crusted on them and a filthy coffee maker. We had to wash everything before use. -All kitchen surfaces were sticky and the oven unusable (an acrid smell filled the kitchen when on) -Dust, flies and cobwebs in most rooms -Stained bath (could not bathe our child) As we found more issues, we felt we had to raise them with the owner. They were so numerous that they could not be rectified during our stay and we had to leave. The owner, in recognising the problems, offered to refund us for the night we could not stay. This was two months ago and despite VRBO contacting the owner many times this has not been refunded. We can’t recommend this property without significant changes and an improvement in the owner’s confrontational communication. Though originally very helpful and agreeable, when we met with them in person, they were rude and stated that we should just have dealt with the issues, implying that we were looking for money. It is clear from the above, and from the fact that VRBO has compensated us, that this is not true.

Wir waren zum Familienurlaub dort. Der Garten ist wunderschön und komplett eingezäunt. Für Kinder und Hunde perfekt geeignet. Wunderschöne Aussicht auf die Berge. Die Vermieterin war immer erreichbar und sehr freundlich! Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen.

Gîte fantastique!

Moments hors du temps loin de l'agitation de la ville. Le gîte de l'école est fantastique tant par sa situation que par son équipement. Les différentes vues sont un enchantement du matin au soir. La région offre beaucoup de possibilités de randonnées à pied ou à vélo. La piscine est un plus pour se rafraichir et se poser. Merci à Sarah et Claude pour leur accueil et disponibilité. Vivement l'été prochain pour les vacances!

Großartig

Eine sehr schöne und außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit großem Pool und Garten. Wir hatten eine sehr.schöne Zeit hier. Die Gegend ist traumhaft und es gibt sehr viel zu entdecken. Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich und jederzeit erreichbar und hatten viele gute Tipps für uns. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt.

Fantastisch

Een geweldig huis in een hele mooie omgeving. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen door Sarah en Claude en er stond iets lekkers voor ons klaar. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Mooie omgeving. Wij zijn o.a. naar de watervallen, lac du bourget en chanaz geweest. Terwijl de mannen gingen vissen genoten de vrouwen bij het zwembad. Een aanrader is zeker een wijnproeverij bij de buurman Claude.

Sehr schöner Aufenthalt

Sehr charmantes Haus mit naturnahem gepflegten Garten, schönem, sauberem Pool und für Hundehalter wichtig, vollständig eingezäunt. Die Besitzer sind äußerst freundlich und gut erreichbar, falls mal etwas fehlt. Uns gefällt es sehr, klare Empfehlung!

The real France

This area is just stunning and the hosts are a fabulous and responsive source for all enquiries. The house feels like a true experience of rural France and the pool area is the cherry on top - wouldnt hesitate to return.

Great place to stay an relax

We stayed 6 nights in the beautiful house and very much enjoyed the swimming pool, the extraordinary views on the Alpes, the French bakery in the village and of course the winery next door! Sarah was very friendly and had great tips for us on short excursions for us and the kids. Absolutely fabulous whether also.

Superbe région.

Le Bugey une région superbe, à découvrir absolument. Ses paysages, ses cascades, sa flore mais aussi sa gastronomie et ses vins. Le gite est spacieux et décoré avec goût. La literie est hyper confortable. L'accueil est chaleureux. Nous pensons déjà y retourner.

Séjour agréable dans une maison typique 1900

Très belle maison au sein d'un village calme. Le terrain n'est pas clos mais ça n'a pas été un problème pour les enfants. Une fois fermée, la piscine est bien sécurisée. La maison est confortable, petit plus avec le billard. L'équipement vidéo au top. Celui de la cuisine est restreint et mériterait d'être plus fournis pour pouvoir mitonner des petits plats à la hauteur de la propreté et des spécialités régionales à déguster devant la magnifique vue sur les montagnes.

Wunderbare entspannte Tage

Das Ferienobjekt ist von 1903 und sehr liebevoll restauriert. Pool und Garten mit dem weiten Blick über die Weinberge auf den Grand Colombier sind großartig. Tischtennisplatte und Billardtisch runden einen gelungenen Urlaub ab. Man kann auch in direkter Umgebung tolle Ausflüge machen, die gesamte Gegend ist touristisch noch nicht so erschlossen, dies macht das Department sehr attraktiv. Die Gastgeber waren sehr herzlich und haben uns mit vielen guten Informationen versorgt. Insgesamt ein toller Aufenthalt.

I am English and Claude French. We have four children, a dog, cats and two ponies. We arrived in the Bugey in 2004 and have been renovating the forge du Perou ever since! After a very successful season with "the gite de la Forge"(https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/gd/dash/661.6518378.3833690) we had the oportunitiy to buy the Old school house (we fell in love with the house and it's position)
We feel this area is very special, we have travelled widely and we are always pleased to get back to the Bugey. We want to share this undiscovered beautiful part of France that the French and Swiss neighbours have been keeping for themselves.
