We were very happy with the location of the luxury cabin, far removed from the tourist trap of downtown Gatlinburg and nestled into the woods, positioned such that we never noticed our neighbors on either side. The cabin was clean and well furnished and supplied, but the pool had ants and a live salamander in it, and the plumbing in the upstairs bathroom was very sluggish. One sink was unusable, with the water barely trickling out of the faucet, and the other sink drained very slowly. The fireplace between the master bath and bedroom wasn't working, although the pilot light was lit. In addition, the helpful guidebook about the cabin and the rental procedures downstairs didn't mention that the jet tub upstairs was set to automatically turn itself on and blow its jets out every 24 hours. We had no idea what was happening when it loudly started up around 8 pm our first night, while we were downstairs watching TV. It sounded like something was winding up to explode, before shutting itself off. It wasn't until the second night, when I happened to be at the sink next to the tub brushing my teeth when it started up, that I realized it was the jet tub. I Googled what might be happening and realized it had been set up to do an automatic hygienic blow-out every 24 hours, to prevent mold and mildew build-up. It would be very helpful to put that in the book downstairs, so renters don't freak out when it happens, or post a sign about it next to the tub. And a note of warning that the jet tub, when activated, is so vigorous that it splashes water all over the floor, necessitating cleanup after using. We attempted to lower the strength of the jets using the plus and minus buttons, but had no luck changing the strength. The view of the trees and the distant mountains out of all those wonderful windows was fantastic but somewhat marred by the windows' dirtiness. Otherwise, our stay was very enjoyable.
