Beautiful cabin stay near Palo Duro

The cabin itself was beautiful and the view of the canyon spectacular. Hosts were very attentive and our stay was very comfortable. Very convenient access to Palo Duro State Park.

Canyon getaway

I had stayed here before and knew that I wanted to come back. Really nice cabin and GREAT view. We enjoyed the hot tub while watching the sunrise and the provided robes were a nice touch. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.

King and Queen of the Canyon

Our stay at SkyHouse was a wonderful experience. The specular view of Palo Duro Canyon from the back patio or from anywhere within the house (full glass in every room across the back) made us feel like the king and queen of the canyon. The location is quiet, serene, and easy to get to.

Beautiful Place

The view did not disappoint! The cabin was also very nice. It was very cold and so we enjoyed the fireplace. The grill did not work. All of the food that I brought was to be prepared on the grill. We called the manager and he said he would be by the next morning but he never showed up. The hot tub is nice but it does not work properly either. I was really looking forward to relaxing from the hot tub and enjoying the view. It was disappointing that we were unable to do so. Overall, it was a nice stay. It is just too expensive to have it not be as planned. We wont stay there again.

Perfect, Amazing and Breathtaking

There can not be better views in Texas! Everything was perfect from the champagne, hot tub, and robes waiting for us. The hot tub tripped a fuse and maintenance was there in 5 minutes and it didn’t happen again. Amazing service!! The hot tub was heated up and running when we got there and was perfect with breathtaking views and privacy ! They leave nothing to chance!

Lovely stay!

We had such a great time here and the property was wonderful! Pictures really don't do the views justice, it was beautiful! Everything was very clean and well kept. We also really enjoyed exploring the area. Very good family trip!

Full moon and perfect sunrise

Incredible property. We were lucky enough to be there during a near full moon, to sit in the hot tub under the full moon was amazing. Then to wake up to a spectacular sunrise.

The rain was no deterrent at all from enjoying Palo Duro Park and our stay.

Sky House greeted us with beautiful view of the canyon, the sun from the West provided the paint brushes for the red hues and the green and clear blue sky. The sun from the East made sure we left without being partial to just one side/view of the canyon! The house is perfect!

The property had the most amazing views of Palo Duro Canyon! It was also VERY clean and updated and felt like the perfect oversized, luxurious cabin to stay at the canyon. Our kids said this was their favorite stop on our vacation. They even loved how peaceful it was there. Thank you!!

What a view!

Like others have said, the pictures really do not do this beautiful canyon justice! My husband and I spent a long weekend here for our anniversary and could not get over just how incredible the view is. The cabin is located very close to the state park and I recommend visiting there and taking the jeep tour at the nearby ranch. The cabin itself is well furnished and decorated and the complimentary champagne in the fridge was a nice touch. The bed was extremely comfortable and the hot tub was very clean. I do wish there had been some furniture down the patio steps near the fire pit. There is a burn ban in place so I assume that is why there is no furniture in that area. My only very minor complaint was the coffee situation. I assumed we would be provided ground coffee but there was only a limited number of kcups stocked for our stay. It would be nice to have ground coffee on hand for those of us that drink several cups a day. All in all, it was a wonderful stay and we definitely would love to return to Dove's rest for another stay in the future.

Beautiful and Romantic

Just like everyone else says - pictures don’t do it justice AT ALL. I needed a romantic place to propose to my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day and this place was PERFECT. The kitchen it fully stocked - like staying at a friends house. Most vacation rentals are slightly worn but not this place nothing in the cabin is chipped/broken or worn. I was very impressed. Will definitely be coming back :)

Jeff Means is the founder and manager of Doves Rest Cabins. He’s an experienced business professional with a 30+ year career in the hospitality & tourism industry. He has overseen countless event executions and destination/resort marketing efforts. He has personally led groups to over 50-countries and worked closely with resorts and hotels to enhance the guests stay and overall experience. He has traveled to every continent except Antarctica, and almost every state/province in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. During his career he has been to many interesting places such as, the Sahara Desert, Amazon River, Great Barrier Reef, Moscow, Marrakesh, Transylvania, Kenai Peninsula, and the Alps from every country, plus most of the Caribbean Islands. Jeff’s sister lives in New Zealand who he visits occasionally. Interestingly, she has several successful vacation home rentals projects in New Zealand, Australia and Argentina!

Jeff is also an author and accomplished writer. His extensive travels have given him a unique view about the world and the cultures in which we live. His curiosity about world and human origins led him to write his debut novel, Entity of Origin. Jeff was born and raised in Northern California but has called Texas home since 1989.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park with its Technicolor walls make for high-desert scenery more commonly seen in southern Utah. It offers more than 30-miles of hiking, mountain-biking and equestrian trails and an additional 1,500 acres set aside for horseback riding. You can bring your own horses so don’t hesitate to ask us about local boarding. Mountain bikers can experience the best single track in Texas and will enjoy the well maintained five trail heads networking for some 26-miles throughout the canyon ranging from "mild" to "wild" in technical ability - dirt, rocks, river rock, sand, wash-outs, switchbacks, drop-offs and climbs with alternative trail accesses throughout.

During the summer, enjoy a performance of the outdoor musical drama TEXAS. The play, nearing a half-century in its on-going production runs Tuesdays through Sundays, June through August, at the 1,700 seat Pioneer Amphitheater. Watch the stories, struggles and triumphs of early settlers. The family-friendly show has singing, dancing, fireworks and lots of Texas humor.
