Es en el corazón del centro de distrito histórico, justo a pie de tiendas, restaurantes, museos, parques y mucho más. Esta casa histórica cuenta con 4 habitaciones (2 con camas Queen y una cama King); 2 sofás cama (Queen y Full), 3ª planta de concepto abierto con 4 camas individuales, 2 baños, amplio comedor y área de desayuno y loft con cocina comedor. Hay espacio para 2 colchones de aire Queen Quality en el tercer piso para un total de hasta 17 personas. Las habitaciones del segundo piso del segundo piso se abren a un balcón con vista al centro de la ciudad de Baker. El baño de arriba cuenta con una bañera con patas y albornoces de felpa se proporcionan para su comodidad. Esta casa tiene aire acondicionado central para los días calurosos. Internet Wi-Fi gratis. Se proporcionan televisores de pantalla plana, con Netflix y DVD.

The booking, check in and out processes where so easy. Communicating with the host was super quick, and helping. The house is beautiful and having the fully stocked kitchen was amazingly helpful and made packing lighter. Thank you! Cant wait to rerurn next year with our swim team.

Our favorite story in the John Wisdom history, which we highly recommend, was the tale of the vat man. On a sweltering August day, 1910, the city was paving the road in front of the house. That night the smoke from the streaming vat of tar poured into the second floor french doors. Father Wisdom could bear no more, donned his pants and went to confront the vat man. The argument escalated, and Glen, a Wisdom son, donned his own pants and raced down the stairs. He heard the vat man say, “Go back to bed you SOB,” and Father Wisdom, in his 70’s, flattened the vat man. Quoting the history, “if he’d been a hundred he would take those words from no man.” Glen picked up the vat man and ran off down the street. The family persuaded Father Wisdom to go inside, having done enough.Still pre-dawn, the police arrived with a warrant for Father’s arrest. The second time that night, he donned his pants. To the surprise of all, the man making the complaint had only one arm. Glen swore he was in possession of both. Father Wisdom admitted that it was dark and he was justifiably riled considering the smoke and insults.In the paper the next morning, the headline read, “Prominent Business Man and Son Assault One-armed Man.” Glen, convinced that vat man had switched places with another, went into law and returned home to set the story straight. He never did find the legitimate vat man and forever the Wisdoms were haunted by the charge: assault and vattery of a one-armed man.

Lovely historical home

I am originally from Baker City, born and raised and have lots of family still there. My family of 5 and my parents decided to rent this beautiful historic home. The home itself was very clean and so cool with all the history and old charm. My family loves history and enjoyed the books about the original owners. The hosts were great, easy to communicate with and reasonable with request, allowing us to have a Thanksgiving gathering at the home. The house was very well stocked with necessities and had an impressive dish selection, great for a holiday meal.The yard was expansive and great for a holiday football. This home is in a central location, great for exploring Baker City. I would absolutely recommend a stay in this beautiful home!

Girls Getaway in Baker City, OR at the Wisdom House

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic home. It was built in 1878 but has every modern comfort and convenience. Well equipped kitchen, all the amenities you would want in the bathrooms. Lots of beds, big dining room, very nice outdoor patio. Only a two block walk to Main Street. Never used our car once we arrived. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay!

Veronica was/is amazing taking care of us/everything. She was/is super easy to communicate with even when you have issues with VRBO. She reached out to VRBO to give me a call to help me. Thank you Veronica for everything! Enjoyed all the local paintings and products for sale. Even purchased some. Read the book you had in the parlor about the house. Good read. Everything is within walking distance. We would stay here again. Our friends are considering this place for their family gatherings in near future. Enjoyed Baker City! Girls' Trip

We had a great time! The location is perfect for walking to downtown shops and eateries. The weather was lovely allowing us to enjoy relaxing conversation in the large well maintained yard and patio. Beds and linens were excellent and the kitchen was well stocked. We were surprised by the television that just came on suddenly (twice a day). We couldn't find a timer setting on it, so we simply turned it off and had a good laugh. Would definitely stay here again.

The overall experience was very good. The house has so much character. We all loved it. The house needed to have housekeeping make a quick walk through before we arrived. The grounds were very well kept.

Historic home experience with updated amenities

The house is located in the historic district of Baker City, It is close to downtown shops and areas of interest. The home is historic but has updated kitchen and baths. I stayed in the bedroom on the first floor and my friends managed the steep staircase to the lovely 2nd floor. We did not access or use the third floor area. We got a quick response when we emailed Victoria regarding the blinds. There is also an alarm system for safety.

Great location, and a fun house to explore

This house is prob the best rental in Baker City for groups. The location is walking distance to fun things down town, even in the winter. The house itself takes a full 20 min to explore; there are so many rooms and interesting things to see. Interesting nooks and decor add to the charm. As with old houses, bathrooms are an issue; 1 upstairs and 1 down stairs. The shower didn't work for us due to pipes freezing. The bath/shower upstairs is challenging for older fellows.

The Wisdom House was designed and built in 1878 by John William Wisdom and is currently the oldest home in Baker City, This Historic home still displays its original draperies in the living room and dining room. Mr. Wisdom was an Oregon State Senator and operated the first pharmacy in Baker City. This is a wonderful home so full of history still bearing the worn down steps leading into the home. The story goes that the stone steps are worn down due to the many guest the Wisdom's had in their home. I just love this home!!!
