80th Birthday Celebration

This was a lovely, and clean property. It was in a great location to restaurants and shopping on the Island. A great location to get into Charleston. It is very pet friendly with having the fenced in yard.Highly Recommend!

Our stay at Beach Maverick was perfect. The house is spacious and cozy, the fenced in yard was perfect for the dogs and the location can’t be beat. Will absolutely stay again next year!

Nice location

Very great location. Kitchen was clean and spacious. My family and I were very comfortable. Appreciate it was dog friendly. Beds were somewhat hard but other than that all was well.

Long weekend in Charleston

Long weekend visiting Charleston with wife and two small children. House was perfect for the 4 of us. Close to beach, walking distance to restaurants etc. Check in process was simple. Would recommend!

Perfect location at Folly

The house was perfect. It was very clean, modern with cute decorations. Also felt simple and easy to stay organized. We enjoyed lounging around and making food after our beach trips. Loved being able to use the beach chairs and bikes. The location was perfect! Short walk to beach and the beach path is right next to the house. The Folly Main Street action is just a block away so we walked to town for everything. Also check out Bert’s Market which is a small grocery store with in walking distance and open 24 hours. The beach was beautiful and the waves were so fun. We felt safe. People were so nice on the island. I enjoyed it better than Isle of Palms. Thank you for a great weekend!

Location is fantastic and convenient. The walk to the beach was short enough for our 3 year old to trek without complaint. We brought our wagon but was pleasantly surprised to find the owner had supplied a wagon, bikes, a couple beach chairs, and other fun and useful beach toys. The house/property was spacious for 4 adults and 2 children (1 & 3 yrs). We did not feel crowded. Laundry in unit was so nice. The outside shower was a game changer! Another great surprise was the selection of puzzles and board games supplied. We were thankful for the gated and provided parking- and you will be too once you realize the limited (and expensive) parking options near the beach. We would absolutely recommend this property and would stay here again!

Amazing Stay

We booked this property so that we could have our 2 kids and their spouses join us on our yearly trip to Folly. The property was very clean when we arrived. We cooked 2 dinners and a breakfast in the kitchen and on the grill. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. The pantry has plenty of room for several days of supplies. Plenty of seating inside and out for all of us and the beds were great. We loved that we could shut the gates and have a fenced in yard for the dogs we brought with us. They enjoyed exploring the yard. It is a short walk using the beach access walks to the beach as well as only a few houses down from all the shops and restaurants on Center Street - perfect location. There was parking space enough for a Jeep, a very large truck, and an SUV. We rented a golf cart because we had baby paraphernalia to transport to the beach, but if everyone is able to walk, you wouldn’t need one. It is also a short walk to the little store for supplies we needed. My husband and I both agreed that we would look at this rental first if we bring everyone again. There was nothing that we felt was lacking.

Great Beach Vacay

This is a cute little house in a perfect location. You can walk to anything you need including restaurants and Bert’s. It had everything we needed for a week at the beach. We had a house full with six of us plus our dog. There is plenty of parking, an outdoor shower and a great hose to rinse sand off everyone before heading into the house. The nice porch has new patio furniture which we used in the morning and evening after the sun started to set. If you plan to sit outside, bring some bug spray or a three wick citronella candle and some Benadryl because the mosquitos are fierce. A few additional tips- the master bath is a little small. The vanity area is very small. If you like to spread out lots of toiletries, make up and hair care items, travel light because you won’t have room for all of that stuff. We rented golf carts but found we didn’t really need them other than the two days we loaded up a lot of stuff to take to the beach. If you have lots of stuff like a canopy, chairs, cooler, etc, you will find a cart useful but there is also a good amount of parking for cars - I think the max parking fee is $10 per day. There is a dog park about four blocks north on the island - the blocks are pretty long so it’s a good round trip walk in the heat. We stayed over a holiday weekend so we had some neighbors who were very loud and somewhat crude late into the night - we could have used some earplugs. We recommend breakfast or lunch at the Lost Dog Cafe. Look for their daily specials. If you are accustomed to visiting places like Sea Pines, Wild Dunes or Kiahwah, you will get a very different vibe from Folly. It is very natural and laid back. It does not have manicured grounds, swimming pools and bike paths. If that’s what you expect, you should look elsewhere. If you want a relaxed, beachy, bohemian place to escape, This is It! Note to the owners - the master shower is nice but a small investment into a new shower head would make a big difference and will be a big improvement. You can get a nice one at Lowe’s for about $50.

Newly Renovated.. Superbly located

I think we were the second family to rent this place. The owners obviously sunk a lot of $$$ into it. It was spotless and well-furnished. Parking is as good as it gets (plenty inside the fence, and if you have guests, at least two if not three in front of the property. Beach access is RIGHT across the street (and two short blocks.) You don't hear TOO much noise from the local bars ( it IS a beach town) but the plus side is you are a two minute walk from the epicenter of Folly Beach. ALL infrastructure is brand new and upscale. Washer/Dryer/Kitchen appliances are great and clean. Kitchen is PRETTY well-appointed (but lacking a few beach essentials like kitchen knives ... advice to owners: Go to Walmart and score a $20 set of chefs/paring/shears etc.) We prepared some pretty complex meals, but DID have to score some el-cheapo knives (though cutting boards, measuring cups, blender, baking dishes, pans etc. were fine.) Glassware/flatware/plates/bowls etc. were excellent and functional. VERY cool Smart TV's (if you have a Roku, bring it) but local channels and anything off the web are pretty much nonexistent. If you have more than two-three people dining, you'll be on the deck (very nice teak set) but indoor dining will be around the large marble island or at the sofa. No big deal, but be forewarned, this is not set up for indoor dining (but hey.. You're at the BEACH.) Toy are maybe 10 minutes from an excellent Harris Teeter supermarket, but a block and a half from BERT's .. a 24-hour joint that has everything you might need ... Onions to banjo strings... Craft beers and mosquito repellent ... We had been vacationing in the OBX for about 15 years, and have rented lots of places. Really appreciated everything on one floor... It may take a renter or three to leave behind a few kitchen essentials the owners have missed (like shrimp de-vieners or clam shuckers) but we were thrilled overall. We can highly recommend this spot for a family of four (including teenagers or young adults.) It was also pet friendly (we have a non-shedding Havanese) and made sure the sofas were covered nonetheless. Our dog got comfortable right away, but it's important to respect a place that allows dogs. Makes for a much more worry-free vacation.

Perfect beach getaway!

Moving our youngest into college

We stayed her while moving our daughter into CofC. The location is amazing, the house is an awesome beach house and beautifully decorated. Our only complaint would be that the mattresses and pillows need to be updated. Other than that, 100% recommend!

Just as good as the first stay

This was our second time staying at Beach Maverick. You cannot ask for a better location: so close to Center Street and a very short walk to the beach. The house had everything you would need, including a starting supply of soaps, dish detergent, laundry detergent, paper towel and toilet paper. Kitchen is fully stocked. The only “negative” for our stay had nothing to do with the house, but more with the logistics for maintenance. We had 2 dogs with us, which we had approval. We were there for 4 nights (but only 3 whole days) and on our drive to FB, we received an email that a pest control service will be there sometime on Friday, and they would need access the the house (but we didn’t need to be there). Because we have 2 dogs, not being there was not an option. We called the management company, and they said they could call us and give us a 30 minute notice of when they would be there. Not ideal, but it would give us time to get back from the beach. Unfortunately, it was not beach weather that day (extreme winds where sand was blowing and even chairs were blowing away), so instead of being able to go into Charleston for the day, we were stuck at the house. I was hoping they would show up early, but they didn’t show up at all! If it were not for the great deck in the front of the house, the day would have been a waste. I realize that pest control is necessary, and I’m glad they are proactive with the service, I just wish it hadn’t interfered with our short get away. Maybe try to schedule it when the house isn’t rented or it’s rented for a longer time where one day wouldn’t impact a short getaway or when there are no approved dogs staying at the house (for easier access if renters are out). Yes, this was an inconvenience, but I would not hesitate to rent Beach Maverick again.

Central location close to beach

This house was perfect for the weekend. I liked how convenient it was to walk to all the local restaurants and the beach. Kitchen was fully stocked and beach towels were provided. Loved the openness of the kitchen and family room. The kitchen island was spectacular. Front porch was setting was lovely. Overall the place was clean and listed as advertised.

Great house in a super location

Really great space in the center of Folly. bars, restaurants, coffee shop all 1-2 blocks away, and the beach was like .25 mile at the most. Very clean, awesome porch. beds were very comfortable. Nice flat screen (with cable, which is nice). Just has everything you need for a great stay at Folly Beach - we will be back!!

NYE Get-away!
