Property was great. Views were amazing. Small hiccup with our property but the host was super responsive and jumped into action immediately. Amazing to work with. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views were everything.

We absolutely loved our quick last minute stay and have booked again for next year! Clean, quiet, ocean right there, whales, turtles. Easy walk to a few restaurants. Loved it'

Ocean front and beach access is the best part staying here. The only thing I was not happy about is the hot water in the shower is not hot

Great Location

I love going to Maui, specifically Honokawai. This condo is in a great location. You can swim in the pool or the ocean. The views sitting on the the lanai are lovely. I am not a big fan of fighting for space outside, like you do at the big resorts, so this place is perfect in my opinion. This was my 3rd stay at the Kale Kai and it won’t be my last.

Vacation fun

They were perfect, not too big, location was great, many places within walking distance. My two sons rented out 2 more condos at this complex and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our condo was well equipped and clean. Great experience

Great location, but unit needs updating...

Cracked floor tiles, peeling wallpaper, old furniture, creaky bed... It certainly does not reflect what was paid for our stay.

Would recommend to friends who don’t require resort rooms. Could walk to coffee, farmer’s market, stores, food. Central location to drive to a lot of places.

I never thought to ask whether or not the property has A/C, it does not. Yes, the wind helps, but, you have to keep the windows open, which is fine except for the noise and the humidity. With the windows open at left an overall soggy feeling in the house on towels, sheets, pillows, clothes, etc. The sugar was affected and it just wasn't comfortable. I reread the description of the condo and it never said it does have AC it never said it doesn't have AC. It just said the tradewinds will call you off. I never thought to ask about whether that meant AC or not. Short term it was bearable, but became unbearable times for me because I run hot. Overall, the location was fine and listening to the waves at night was fine but again with the windows open, there was humidity and then noise from people passing by noise from the GARDNER doing Landscape work noise from the cars noise from the kids in the pool, it was it was hard to have a good time that way. An air-conditioning unit would be much better if I had to say again I would not stay there again. Just due to the AC or the lack there of. Also, the humidity cause as cabinet doors to stick, and some are very hard to open. Also, there was rust on the hinges caused by the humidity and I understand where to coast, but if you could keep the windows closed, it would be entirely different in my opinion. Thank you.

Comfortable

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I stayed a week. This was a very comfortable unit we felt at home. Beach towels and chairs are available for use in the unit. Out your patio door is the beach and park and out your front door is the pool and beach. Spoke with several guest who were all repeat renters. Our friends told us about the unit this was their 6 times to Maui and the 3rd time at Hale Kai, they like the upstairs units.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is an old condo which had minimal upgrades. Cockroach dead on the bathroom floor on the first day, kitchen functional, at best. Bedroom at least had a ceiling fan, there is no air-conditioning. Very crowded community..long waits for everything. We left two days early.

Beautiful Location

This particular unit is ground floor with ocean view off the patio and front door is right on the pathway to the pool and bbqs. The property is all well maintained. Customer service is great. This unit itself is very run down. Has most all amenities and great location in the complex. Needs some TLC. There is a new owner; a new chair & sofa bed were delivered recently so perhaps they are in the middle of fixing up. Sleeps 4 adults comfortably. Or 3 adults & 2 little ones.

Review of stay April 7 to 14th of April.

Rating Details: The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in unit 104. I found this condo unit lacking in privacy and security. The unit is just feet away from a public park with park visitors sitting uncomfortably close to our door. In the evening, it is dark which does not allow for us to see out, but park visitors can easily look into our unit. The front door of this unit had a very flimsy locking mechanism.

It was the best location, walkable to several restaurants and listening to the ocean at night. Condo was relatively quiet too except the occasional kid up at 4 am- poor parents. Condo itself is clean, simple but has everything for basic cooking. Our kids slept on the fold out couch- not comfy, but they didn’t seem to care. Bed was decent. Not squishy so that was good. Would stay again!

I expected the cockroaches but I didn't expect,,,,,,,,,

If it was only the roaches or only the mice on the kitchen counter or only the dirty dishes in the cupboards or only the dirty floors or the worst bed in the world,,, this pace would be amazing. Owner refused to respond to emails. Location is amazing and you cannot beat the price, but it was painfully obvious that the owner does not care at all about this property. Great location with a great price but what a piece of crap condo.

#1 Relaxation Destination

Reviewer Comments: I hesitate to leave a good review because Hale Kai is already booked up in advance :) We are repeat visitors and always feel welcome, spoiled, and well looked-after by the the whole team. Thank you for another moment of paradise! To note is that everything was very clean and all the bedclothes were freshly washed, including the mattress protector. We enjoy the Farmer's Market and the Fish Market for over-priced, delicious snacks and meals. Rent snorkelling gear across the street and try Honolua Bay (vehicle needed) and Airport Beach for gorgeous coral reefs (30 minute walk south)!
