La casa de las sirenas se encuentra en Letojanni, un pueblo de pescadores a solo 6 km de Taormina, a 20 metros del mar.La Villa tiene un jardín con mesa y sillas, en la planta baja hay una sala de estar - cocina equipada con horno, nevera pequeña, estufa. Estufa de 4 quemadores, lavavajillas, vajilla, utensilios de cocina y utensilios de cocina, comedor independiente. sofá cama para dos personas y baño (en total 3 baños con ducha) En el primer piso dos habitaciones dobles con aire acondicionado, vista al mar, cada una con baño con ducha.
La vista es simplemente impresionante y el mar a pocos metros de distancia le permite disfrutar de una relajación absoluta.

Our family spent 1 week at Carmen’s beach house. Perfectly located at the end of the beach strip. Quiet, beautiful and perfect for relaxation. Taormina and Isao Bella is on only 10-15 minutes away. Can’t beat the location. Thank you Carmen

Beautiful house, perfect location just a 1 min walk to the free beach with the option of paying for a sunbed or more luxurious beds just further down the beach. Cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. with parks and piaza all with plenty of space for children to play in.Messina is a 40 minute drive and Taormina a 10 min drive to the carparks.House itself is very spacious with a lovely outdoor area not overlooked and perfect for outdoor dining.Carmen was a great host very knowledgeable about the local area and only a message away if we needed her. Also having a parking space was a much needed bonus!Would definitely visit again

Wonderful home by the Sea

We stayed here for eight nights, it is in a beautiful location, easy walk to restaurants and shops. Beautiful courtyard to sit and relax in. The house has been remodeled and is very modern. Especially loved the bedroom with attached bathroom and good size shower. Carmen was excellent to work with and gave us many suggestions where to go. I would highly recommend staying here. Also next door is a Beach Club where you can go and spend the day for a fee and have a lounge chair with umbrella, they also have a restaurant, bar and pool. Was quite nice.

Ideal Modern Mermaid Haven

Fun stay at the Mermaid House with grandkids and their parents - it was ideal for the 6 of us! Carmen met us to greet & guide us to the location/ familiarized us all on the workings of the house and some ideas for the sightseeing. Also responded quickly during our stay when we had a minor issue with the hot water. Felt very well looked after in a location that allowed morning jog on the beach/ breakfast meals with lovely bedrooms/short ride to local sites Taormina etc./ even in March we could enjoy a little of the beautiful Letojanni morning sun in the courtyard!

Beautiful house for a quiet and relaxing time

My holiday in Marmaid house was very nice. The location is great and very quiet. Near the house all are green with bougainvillea, hibiscus and many other flowers. The house is beautiful with charme.In house I have feeled very nice invironment. Everything inside of house are very nice and new. The house is well equipped and we find all, that we need. Restaurants and shops are in walking distance. The beach is just across the street, nice and clean. Carmen was kind and attentive. She has many recommendations for to do excursions in beautiful places. I recommend for a quiet and relaxing time

Outstanding property, so close to the beach!

The description and photos of the Mermaid House ticked all the boxes and the reality is just as lovely. We couldn't believe how close we were to one of the quietest beaches in the area! Another added bonus is that the sun beds provided in the courtyard are light enough for any able bodied adult to carry them down to the beach, saving you the typical 4 Euro a day tourist tax on rental. The house itself is stunning and spacious, ideal for our 4 adults but we could also see how it'd be easy enough to accommodate another two. It's a blend of typical Mediterranean and well thought out design, whoever decorated it obviously has an eye for these things. There's loads of storage space (often one of my whinges about holiday lets), everything is there that you'd expect in terms of facilities and the air conditioning and other electricals all work very well.The house was very clean when we arrived and Carmen was the perfect hostess, coming to find us when we got lost, making sure we knew where all the best places to go were etc. We found Letojanni to be a brilliant location for us as we were close enough to Taormina and other famous locations (Isola Bella, Etna etc.) - just a short drive away - but we also got the benefit of a lovely local village atmosphere with enough restaurants, cafes and shops to keep us amused on more lazy days when we didn't want to drive. Prices were a lot more reasonable in the local area than in more commercial tourist resorts, our shopping was coming up at a comparable price for Lidl or similar in the UK and the quality was really good. Overall a really fantastic holiday and one that we'd all be happy to repeat tomorrow (didn't want to leave at all!)

Sewage treatment, chicken farms, & graffiti

We just spent a week in the Mermaid House in Letojanni. We had a very mixed experience and we were surprised no one had mentioned some important drawbacks in other reviews. For this house, unfortunately, I need to list the “cons” first-- CONS - The house is surrounded by an active sewage treatment plant and 2 chicken farms. You definitely smell sewage any time you go outside. If we tried to open the windows to enjoy the “sea air”, we smelled sewage instead. Fortunately for us, it was mid-winter and we could keep the house closed up. (The owner, Carmen, says the sewage is a “seasonal” problem—if you are interested in staying here, you might want to ask.) - The house is on the very edge of town, on a road where all neighboring houses are hidden behind high concrete walls that are covered in graffiti. (Note there are no photos of the house from the street....) - Less important-- Pillows are foam bricks. House is missing some basics, like garbage cans beyond the kitchen, or a colander for draining pasta. PROS - Carmen was very nice to deal with, and she kindly provided milk, coffee, tea, and muffins for us so we would have food when we arrived. When our hot water heater went out after a storm, she got it repaired quickly. - Newly redone house, with very nice bathrooms, wood beam ceilings upstairs, and tile floors. Pleasant outdoor eating area on the patio (if the wind is in your favor…) - Nice layout for families or couples, with 2 bedrooms upstairs each with their own bathroom, and a shared space downstairs with another bathroom. - Partial views of ocean from upstairs windows are nice - Location truly is walking distance to the beach (but you will want to go a few blocks south to avoid the sewage smell). Unfortunately, due to the location and the smell, I would not recommend this house to anyone.

Karen I traveling a lot and I meet different situation , the house who I rent good and the inconvenient for the nearby street ,but all haven't the negative think of the property I rent . Fantastic location, well equipped and comfortable

All the positive comments agreed - and then some. We always self-cater and this was one of the best for location, space, comfort and facilities. Terribly sorry we forgot to clean the oven - remembered on the plane.

Beautiful home, great location

We only stayed one night at the Mermaid House as a way to break up the drive from the south to the north, but I could very happily have stayed much longer. The house is absolutely immaculate. It is an old stone structure that has been meticulously renovated, and elegantly combines the old and the new (the pictures definitely don't do it justice). The bedrooms are big and the beds are very comfy. Both bedrooms upstairs have ensuite bathrooms, plus there is another on the main floor. In addition, Carmen made sure that the kitchen was stocked with all the basics for cooking a meal at home. The location is really great - only steps from the beach, and within a few minutes walk of many excellent restaurants. Carmen can tell you all kinds of excellent things to see and do in the area, including visiting some spectacular beaches. Taormina is only a few minutes away by car, and Etna is a short distance beyond that. We really enjoyed our (all too short) stay at the Mermaid House.

Mermaid House - A home away from home

The villa was lovely ~ bright and airy ~ an eclectic mix of old structure with modern/new interior. It was meticulously clean and stocked with the necessities. The beds were extremely comfortable and each room was each equipped with satellite TV including the main floor living area. We were only steps from a long stretch of a beautiful beach. We enjoyed barbecuing and dining on the privately-enclosed patio. We were welcomed by Carmen who has a fantastic and outgoing personality. She showed us around the house and provided useful suggestions of places to visit during our one-week stay. She was always a phone call away. The villa is perfectly situated. We were a 10 minute drive from Taormina which could be seen on a mountain, to the right, while standing on the beach close to the villa. Catania to the south, and Messina to the north, were each approximately a 40 minute drive away. There are numerous cafés/bars/gelaterie; indoor/outdoor restaurants and grocery/speciality stores (i.e., fish; meat; cheese/deli and fruit/vegetable shops) within this quaint town and the BEST ice cream (whatever flavour) is at a bar in the piazza closest to the church. Carmen, thank you for your hospitality and kindness. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mermaid House. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family. We hope to visit again one day soon.

Mermaid House - our stay and experience

This villa was very clean and well kept . The kitchen and bathrooms were modern and well supplied. The villa was an old structure from the 1600's which was restored and was very charming. It was located near the sea and just off the main street (Lungo Mare) in Letojanni. The piazza was near to our place with many restaurants and bars within walking distance and we loved it, providing us with all the amenities we were looking for. Carmen was most accommodating with our questions and sightseeing suggestions; she was very professional. giving advice and always up for a chat and a laugh, nothing was too much trouble. She was always available to us for anything. Thank you Carmen for having been the great person that you are and we will recommend this place, and you , to all our friends. We will look forward to our next visit there.

Es war ein Urlaub mit Freunden bei Freunden

Wir haben mit Freunden schöne Urlaubstage im Ferienhaus verlebt. Das Haus ist sehr interessant hergerichtet, mit gemütlichen Zimmern, ansprechenden Bädern, einem großen Esstisch und vor allem dem wunderbaren Innenhof. Dank Carmen hat alles super funktioniert: von der ersten Kontaktaufnahme bis zu unsere Heimfahrt. Sie hatte viele Tipps für uns, von Ausflügen bis zu Restaurants. Wir können das Haus uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen, es eignet sich für einen Strandurlaub genauso wie für Ausflüge in die Umgebung (Taormina, Catania, Messina und auch zum Tal der Tempel kann man es schaffen)!

luxury villa close to beach

I went on holiday with my partner for two nights only, unique house just a few meters from the beach, furnished elegant and taste a mix of old and new, garden terrace with barbecue, lounge, kitchen complete with everything needed to cook two large bedrooms, each bedroom with sea view and air conditioning satellite TV, wifi, bathroom with large-shower , exceptional cleanliness. I had lunch and dinner outdoors for a good two days just breathing the scent of the sea. No unpleasant smell AND NO FARM AROUND, JUST A Countrymen WITH SOME AROMATIC PLANTS AND A DOG. The only negative note: Unfortunately I only booked for two nights. I'll be back '

Casa bellissima, la consiglio

La casa delle sirene è alla fine del lungomare di Letojanni, in un posto tranquillo e rilassante, il giardino esterno è perfetto per cenare a casa gustandosi un po' di fresco e relax, con una passeggiata di cinque minuti si è al centro di Letojanni con locali, ristoranti, market, bar, bancomat, se si vuole andare a Taormina c'è un autobus che passa dietro casa ogni mezz'ora, il mare davanti casa è molto bello, spiaggia con ciottoli non molto confortevole ma con le scarpette passa la paura! Nella casa c'è tutto il necessario per viverla alla grande, non manca nulla, e la gentilezza della padrona di casa non ha eguali, la consiglio vivamente a tutti.

Leider nur eine Woche

für eine herrliche Woche war "die Heimat der Sirenen" unser Zuhause. Das Haus und der Innenhof sind wunderschön, die Beschreibung ist in jeder Hinsicht korrekt. Carmen ist die perfekte Gastgeberin, jeder Wunsch wird erfüllt, Probleme aus der Welt geschaffen. Der Ort ist gut zu Fuß erreichbar und bietet nicht nur sehr gute Restaurants. Zur Orientierung zeichnete uns Carmen auch eine Übersichtsskizze. Taormina ist gut mit dem Bus erreichbar. W-LAN funktioniert perfekt, sehr angenehm. Schade dass wir nur eine Woche dort waren!

Kontaktaufnahme, Bezahlung u. Eingangsbestätigung waren perfekt Keine Übertreibungen im Angebot zu Haus u. Umgebung-äußerlich sehr einfach, doch hinterm Gartentor mehr u. mehr Juwel ! Netter Empfang von Besitzerin, Einkauf im Kühlschrank u. div. Blumensträuße im Haus - alles super sauber. Haben es schon mehreren Personen weiterempfohlen Strand sauber - zum Baden war es noch zu kühl u. windig Pizzeria Tropicana an der Strandpromenade gut u. netter Besitzer - spricht deutsch - selbstgemachte Nudeln ;-) und gute Pizza Eisdiele/Pasticceria direkt unterhalb der Kirchentreppe zu empfehlen Fisch vom Auto gekauft - supergünstig u. lecker

wunderschönes Haus direkt am Strand

Wir haben mit zwei Paaren 10 Tage im Mermaid-House verbracht und uns wunderbar erholt. Das Haus ist toll eingerichtet, von Regenwasserdusche in allen drei Bädern bis zu Waschmaschine und Spülmaschine. Im Innenhof kann man wunderbar sonnenbaden und abends grillen. Das Haus eignet sich hervorragend für einen Urlaub mit zwei Paaren, da es über zwei gleich schöne Schlafzimmer mit Meerblick im ersten OG nebst jeweils angeschlossenem Bad verfügt. Einzig der benachbarte Hahn macht sich morgens früh bemerkbar, ist aber dank Klimaanlage durch Schließen der Fenster zum Schweigen zu bringen. Ebenso können sehr Geräuschempfindliche die sehr entfernt wahrnehmbare Schnellstrasse und Bahntrasse ausblenden. Insgesamt ein tolles Haus mit einer sehr sympathischen und stets hilfsbereiten Vermieterin.

Charming house,great location, wonderful hostess

We landed in monsoon conditions May 23, 2011. Had a bit of a hard time to locate the house out of Catania, but Carmen found us in Letojanni and led us home. House may be a little smaller than it appears in photos, but garden area is fantastic for dining, lounging, etc. House brand new, excellent condition. Kitchen could be a bit better equipped for this price range (no toaster, microwave, limited utensils). Air worked pefectly. Carmen was amazing. She had provisions for the 1st day, including fruit from her garden, juice, milk, coffee, pastries - so we had food to wake up to. She had many recommendations re: sites to visit within a 30 km radius, authentic local restaurants, cuisine recomendations, etc. We followed her suggestions and were totally pleased. She was available to troubleshoot minor issues (power off briefly), looked in on us regularly to ensure we were OK. Excellent beach just 20 meters from front door. Would happily return one day.
