We had the most wonderful two-month stay at the Peaceful Pinewood Retreat. From the moment we arrived, we felt an immediate sense of calm and welcome, and the breathtaking lake views quickly became the perfect backdrop to our days. The spacious layout gave us plenty of room to both relax and work comfortably. We loved using the fire pit and the fully equipped kitchen and grill were a plus! Everything was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully prepared, and well stocked with practical amenities like a washer and dryer, making our extended stay effortless. Martha, thank you for being such a thoughtful and attentive host! Your home made our stay restorative and memorable, and we look forward to returning someday.

Lovely home with beautiful lake views. The spacious terrace was a highlight. We enjoyed breakfast and coffee lakeside very often during our one week stay. Comfortable beds and plenty of space for 5 adults.

Lovely House, Fabulous Lake Views

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pinewood Retreat. Beds and linens were top quality, house had everything we needed, both indoors and out. Martha left clear instructions and was readily available at all times. A very pleasant stay.

What a beautiful veiw

The home has a rustic family friendly interior with a view of the lake that takes your breath away each time you look at it. We had a wonderful time while staying at this property.

Beautiful property

The house was immaculate and comfortable. The views are to die for. Watched an eagle fish for his breakfast. Breathtaking. Small holiday decorations were such a lovely touch. Wine by the huge fireplace at the end of the workday was perfect. I cannot recommend this property more. Can’t wait to return.

Clean calm lake stay

We greatly enjoyed a few nights in the lake house. If you need to be in the Trumbull area, this is an excellent place to stay. The house and yard are very well maintained and so clean. Beds are comfortable, kitchen fully equipped, and view so peaceful. We highly reccomend it.

Communication with this host is excellent. This property sits on the BEST spot on the lake. The view is amazing. This home has all the conveniences. Kitchen is nicely equipped which was a very nice plus. Very charming property and host!

Long term winter stay while relocating

We needed a comfortable temporary home base while we shopped for a new home and this lakeside retreat was perfect. We enjoyed the gorgeous view from every room . And as winter turned to spring we were able to view the birds and plants coming to life. The walk around the lake is lovely too.

Yale Family Graduation Trip

Peaceful Pinewood Retreat is exactly that! What a blessing and treat to have found this magical home for my Texas family to retreat to for our daughters Yale graduation. I had been looking on VRBO for months and had not found the perfect place until this beautiful home popped up. The attention to detail in every aspect of the home and communication with the host made for the smoothest stay. When you arrive and walk through the door the beauty of the lake through the large picture window will take your breath away. We enjoyed sitting in the living room having coffee or on the patio as a family. The host left nothing out and thought of everything to make our stay amazing. From the outdoor lawn games to the organization of the kitchen and the basic needs while you are away from home were so well thought out. I highly recommend considering staying here for any getaway! Thank you to Martha for being a top notch host!

We really enjoyed staying in Pinewood Retreat! This was the most organized home we have ever stayed in. The kitchen was perfect as was everything else. It’s an older home with so much charm and it’s in great shape. Once you see the view with a cup of coffee in the morning you’ll be hooked!!

Beautiful lake house getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful lake house! The views are stunning! We already miss our quiet mornings sipping coffee, looking out over the serene lake. The house is stocked with everything you could need to enjoy your stay - she even had toys and books for our kiddos. We were sad to leave and would come back in a heartbeat!

Over the past 15 years, we have hosted numerous international students from all over the world. In addition to traveling, we also enjoy classical & jazz music, reading, cooking, cycling, hiking, sailing, swimming, and kayaking.

This charming home was built in 1949 and located in a peaceful suburban lake community. The home includes an amazing kitchen/dining area for foodie gatherings, 2 fireplaces, a cozy "home office", a smart HD TV with Roku for casting your favorite shows. If you love outdoors, then take advantage of the huge terrace with a hammock, lounge chairs, dining table, fire pit, gas grill, shuffle-board and corn hole. Or venture out to the numerous parks and nature trails, restaurants, breweries, or orchards to pick your own seasonal fruits. This property has all the comforts and joys of a vacation get-away, yet it is conveniently located close to major transportation routes. The Amtrack/MetroNorth (Bridgeport) station is 13-minutes away. We look forward to your arrival and exceeding your expectations! Note: the lake is not part of the property and access requires membership to the private Pinewood Lake Association.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The south-facing views of Pinewood Lake are stunning year-round. The large terrace is great for a fire pit, grilling and dining al fresco, relaxing in the hammock or lounge chairs, playing shuffle board or corn hole, star-gazing, yoga and exercise, and just soaking up the sunshine with a great book!

We have a library of classic and children's literature (for borrowing -- not taking). There is also a piano (extra fee), which is kept tuned and in excellent condition for anyone who needs to keep up with practice, prepping for a recital or for group sing- alongs. Please inquire about access as this is normally kept locked.
