The cottage is located on the Greenbrier River, one of the premier fishing and paddling streams in West Virginia. It is at the end of a long driveway, surrounded by trees and foliage. This a studio - style setup: there is one large room with a sleeping area (queen bed), living area with a fireplace, kitchen, and bathroom. It has WiFi, but no cell phone serviceor land line. You can drive a few miles into Hillsboro or Marlinton if you want to use your cell phone.

We bought this property because of its unique location on one of the most beautiful, family-friendly rivers in West Virginia, offering fishing, paddling, tubing, swimming, biking and hiking. Pocohontas County is one of the outdoor friendly places in West Virginia. We are minutes away from hiking/backpacking trains, mountain streams, waterfalls and wildlife. On the property itself, you may encounter deer, raccoons, turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks, and very occasionally, a black bear. The Greenbrier River is home to beaver, trout, bass, otters, bald eagles, blue herons, ospreys. Songbirds are plentiful.

The property is minutes away from Cranberry Glades, a unique Canada-like ecosystem with plants typically only found in northern climates.

The Glades are part of the Cranberry Backcountry which provides multiple hiking and backpacking opportunities. The Greenbrier River Trail runs nearly the length of the Greenbrier River. We often see hikers and bikers on the trail while swimming.
