2 weeks at Memory House

My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Memory House on Palm Island. It is a bit of a process to get to Palm Island from Minneapolis but is worth the effort. If you like peaceful relaxation, Palm Island is perfect. Susan is a fantastic host. Her housekeeper, Elithia, is a gem. Alaska, a manager at the small resort there was very helpful with tours and the occasional dinner that we enjoyed at the resort. We highly recommend Memory House. Brett and Bonnie

Great Place to get away.

This was a very unique experience. We loved being secluded, yet near a resort if we needed to see people. The spa was awesome and steps away. Memory house is an oasis in itself. We loved being right on the beach with the trade winds to cool us while also being able to enjoy the pool in the courtyard. Most of all I loved having so few choices to make everyday. And Elithia is there for anything needed or forgotten. She’s a gem!

A beautifully cared for and extremely well appointed property that makes it so easy to unplug. There are not many of these places left in this world. We would definitely return and highly recommend the property.

Fabulous Property

I rarely leave reviews, but it is a must in this case. This is a fabulous home on the most beautiful stretch of beach. My wife and I spent a week at Memory House on Palm Island in June. We were normally had the entire beach to ourselves - other than an occassional walk-by or kite surfer. During the booking process, the owner was responsive and patient with questions. She made sure the house was stocked with requested groceries and liquor. I couldn't have asked for a smoother more pleasant experience. Upon arrival we were greeted by Elithia the housekeeper, who knowing we had been traveling all day, had prepared us a delicious chicken currey dish with rice and slaw. The next day we signed up with the resort for their all-inclusive meal package. Without exception, everyone at the resort was friendly and professional. They treated us as guests. The resort spa is next door to Memory House, and give incredible massages. Another must if you go. Palm Island is beautiful and relaxing. We couldn't have asked for more. If you are considering a stay at Memory House - don't hesitate! (Unless you're scheduling for a time when we want to come back :) ) We'll definitley be back! 12 Days in Paradise

We stayed at Memory House for 12 nights with our two boys (12 and 15 years old) to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. We were looking for something off the beaten path that would be memorable. Palm Island is pristine and beautiful. Iguanas and tortoises roam freely, and there are a number of beaches to explore. The Palm Resort staff were very welcoming and accommodated us for the occasional lunch and dinner (note, they accept children 12+ in the off-season for dinner). They also provide ferry service to and from Union Island. Memory house is spacious and well-appointed. It is situated on a beautiful private beach. We rarely saw anyone walking the beach. Kiting = JT Pro Kite Center on Union Island were excellent to work with. They provided pick up and drop off at the Palm Island dock for our boys who took lessons. Experienced kiters can launch right from the Memory House beach (side onshore wind, deep water, gusty, coral reefs, small chop). JT Pro run an excellent kiting excursion to Mayreau and the Tobago Cays. We ended the day with a challenging downwinder from the Tobago Cays to Palm Island (experienced kiters only). If you don’t kite, the resort offers a similar excursion on the Yannis boat. It’s a worthwhile experience. Susan was incredibly helpful with pre-arrival planning, including the pre-ordering of groceries and alcohol. Elithia (full-time housekeeper) was wonderful and cooked up a mean curry  She happily prepared a few meals during our stay and was able to pick up fresh produce and local fruit daily.

The Perfect Caribbean Getaway

We just ended a one week stay at the Memory House on Palm Island. The house is designed and appointed beautifully perfectly situated on a sandy white beach with crystal clear water. Although we didn’t use the kitchen it was well equipped to handle all your cooking needs. Instead we choose an all-inclusive meal/beverage package at the Palm Island Resort; a cute boutique resort with excellent food and live music every night. They also have an excellent Spa which is right next door to the Memory House. The housekeeper, Elithia and her son Abdul were amazing; both very endearing and made us feel at home. Abdul cooked a very tasty lobster dinner for us one night. If you are seeking a peaceful picture perfect Caribbean getaway with complete privacy the Memory House on Palm Island is the place for you.

WOW!!! Exceeded Our Expectations

We are a family of four and spent 6 nights here. It takes some effort to get to and it is 100% worth the effort. The home is clean, neat and beautiful. Awesome kitchen and the sweetest housekeeper on the planet! The beach is perfect, although a bit windy in December which makes the area ideal for kite surfers. The owners, Birdie and Owen, were so helpful in planning our travel to get there and ensuring we were stocked with all of the necessary provisions. We loved it and will definitely be back!!!

Wonderful!

Palm Island is hard to get to, but Memory House is so worth the trouble! The house is beautiful, and the setting perfect. The location on Palm Island provides privacy and seclusion, and a beautiful beach that is very quiet and restful. The house has everything you could need, including an amazingly well appointed kitchen, if you want to cook for yourself and your family. All the furnishings are beautiful and well cared for, making one feel at home. We loved the outdoor shower, especially in such beautiful weather! The owner was very helpful in getting things organized for us, answered all our questions promptly, and introduced us via email to the resort staff. The on-site manager, Elithia, is the most caring, kind person, who took care of all our needs, and then some. She is a great representative for the property. We took advantage of the Palm Island Resort, and signed up for meals there, and for boat transfers from Union Island. The staff at the resort is wonderful, and we felt like we were welcomed guests from the first day. If you are looking for a lot of activity, this is not for you, but it is a perfect place to unwind and unplug from the daily grind. We will be back!

Susan and Owen Memory reside in Steveston, British Columbia a suburb of Vancouver.

Susan first came to Palm Island in 1977 and instantly fell in love. In 2010 her life long dream came true with the purchase of Memory House.

Memory House, previously called Kaiser House, was completely taken down to the original foot print and brought into it's current luxury home state. It was important to Susan to keep the character and charm of Memory House's roots by maintaining local quarried stone walls. The transformation is truly remarkable.

Susan is the Owner and Creative Director of her 28 year old company, JRS Amenities Ltd. Her husband works along side of her as the Warehouse and Logistics Manager.

Susan often works remotely from her studio at Memory House where her creativity flourishes and is inspired by the beauty of Palm Islands stunning surroundings.

Both Susan and Owen travel the world extensively for business but it is Palm Island where they truly enjoy peace and tranquility and other adventures with dear friends and family.

Both Owen and Susan have travelled the world and in particular many of the Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands. Along with frequent visits to other tropical destinations such as Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand, etc. But nothing could compare to the feeling they have when they arrive on Palm Island. So they set their sites to purchase a home on the renowned private island of Palm.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

The islands of the Grenadines in general, and the area around Palm Island in particular, are truly, spectacularly beautiful - one of the world's few remaining natural treasures. Palm is a tiny island (you can walk around it in about 30 minutes) but it is blessed with a number of spectacular beachfronts and some of the most idyllic swimming conditions to be found anywhere. Despite its modest proportions Palm Island has some interesting walking trails and hilly lookout points. It also offers a Mangrove Lake, with a diverse range of birds and other wildlife, notably the outstanding Caribbean Iguanas that live freely here as they are protected by sanctuary status.

One feels free, safe and like a time traveller back to a time when life was much simpler and enjoyable.

For those that love outdoor sports, the Grenadines are hard to beat.
