Fantastic stay

A blissfully peaceful apartment, yet only a short stroll to all of Almyrida’s fabulous beachside restaurants. Well equipped kitchen with quality appliances. A large, immaculate, shared pool which often felt private. Big sunny balcony accommodating a dining area plus 4 sun loungers, with a stunning view out over the bay, we looked forward to coming back to it in the evenings, plus a second smaller balcony to catch the last of the evening sun. Very decent supermarket just 2 mins walk, and all other amenities, shops, taxi rank, restaurants, fabulous sandy beaches within a 5-10 min walk. We loved the chilled vibe in Almyrida, beautiful beaches, great food and friendly people. Wendy was a super host, always responsive, answering all questions without delay, and accommodating our awkward arrival and departure times. An internet issue one day (a real crisis with 2 teenagers!) was sorted within minutes of texting, thank you Wendy! We would love to return.

First visit to Greece

We celebrated my husband’s 80th birthday during our stay. We loved the apartment it worked well for 2 couples. The climb up the hill was challenging but we managed, the view from the deck was worth the climb. If you want a cab you need to phone them, you cannot stop at their street side office and ask for a ride. The supermarkets in town are great but if you are looking for fresh meat you need to go to the next town, south west of Almyrida. We took the taxi and our driver was great, he waited while we shopped and even helped us return an article we had purchased to exchange for what we really needed. We loved the pool that was just below our deck, we never had to share it with other guests, it was like having our own private pool. It was quiet, and very comfortable. It was very warm while we were there and the air conditioner worked great. We had an issue with the wifi but Wendy rectified very quickly once she was notified. It’s a great apartment!

Great apartment

Really lovely apartment, clean and modern. Had everything we needed. The pool was also brilliant. Almyrida is a super town, the beaches have shallow, warm water which is great for kids. I will just say the internet is really slow and unpredictable but that is a very minor gripe and by no means effected our holiday. We had an excellent time.

Lovely Quiet Location with spectacular views

A lovely cosy apartment in the most perfect location 10 minutes walk to the beach. Almyrida has everything you need for a relaxing break by the sea. The apartment is well equipped to cater for a family of 4. The pool was just what we needed and many times had it all to ourselves. We hired a car and visited Lake Kourna which was well worth the visit and Limnoupolis Water Park which was fantastic and not too busy. We also used the supermarket in Kalyves called EYNKA as it had everything you need at much lower price than the small local one. We will definitely return.

Family holiday in Almyrida

The property is in a ideal location, with great views as well as being only 5 minutes walk to the shops (supermarkets and clothes / jewellery etc), a good mix of bakeries, restaurants and the beach. It is also a good base if you are without a car but want to visit the beaches at Kalyves or Chania as there is a regular bus. There is also a good taxi service if you want to go to other villages. The property is up a short steep hill, which is an easy 1 minute walk when going down but harder when going back up in the heat! The accommodation is also ideal for a family. There are two bedrooms and importantly two showers/ toilets, one of which is ensuite. There is also lots of storage space. Having a washing machine was a useful bonus as we're all the cooking facilities. The balcony is spacious and had 4+ sunbeds and a large table - and did not feel crowded or overlooked. The shared swimming pool was quiet when we visited, with occasional use by others families who were staying in the apartments. It was good for both children to swim and play in but also do some exercise in. We would not hesitate to stay there again and gave 5* throughout for location, value and also communication with the owner.

Will definitely book to stay here next year again!

I've stayed here together with my family for two years in a row now and I think that says it all. The apartment is great, everything is very clean and of very good quality. Wendy is friendly and helpful and it is situated at a quite spot maximum of 5 minutes of walking distance from the beach. I've really enjoyed my stay here and it's definitely my go to spot in Crete.

We had a great stay in this great apartment

Very nice and spacious apartment, spotless rooms. Close to a vice beach with great sea view. The open plan kitchen included a lot of small appliances in it, for example, a coffee machine, etc. Wendy is very friendly and helpful. Private parking is available.

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

Perfect apartment overlook ing the sea in Almyrida.--a short walk to the ocean and all the activities. The two bedroom apartment was perfect, both inside and outside. Since we now have a Cretan son-in-law, we will be going to Crete quite often and hope to use this apartment over and over again.

The apartment was exactly as we had expected and the view was impeccable. We were greeted by a sparkling clean apartment, and all the equipment was in place when we arrived. The bed, sheets and equipment in the bedrooms appeared to be new. We had challenges with the one air con, but within an hour there were professionals in place and sorted it out. Wendy was quick to respond, and gave a thorough introduction to everything we needed regarding the apartment and the area. We would definitely rent this apartment from Wendy again

What a fabulous stay!

The apartment is gorgeous with knock-out views. Comfortable beds, lovely terrace for eating on and playing games, great pool and poolside area. Excellent open plan kitchen. Wendy was straight forward and always in contact with us. Fabulous host. The patio area had enough sun loungers. There was by far enough, towels, bed linen, dishes, cutlery, cups, plates, you name it the apartment had plenty. everything was spotless. Some other review said the apartment needed TLC/updating! Where & what? This apartment is in a very private and quite spot but incredibly close to all the bars, restaurants and very sandy beach in Almyrida. We would highly recommend staying at this place while visiting Crete. It would be a fabulous choice.

Great Apartment, Stunning views, Highly Recommended

We had a fabulous time at this apartment. It is beautiful with huge patio doors and spectacular sea views. The apartment was extremely clean, well equipped, fully air-conditioned with free WIFI. Almyrida is lovely and all the shops, restaurants and sandy beach are only a few minutes walk from this apartment. Wendy was very friendly and helpful. We will come back for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment.

We are a family of 4. This apartment had everything we could want in a holiday home and more. The views are stunning and we loved eating outside on the huge terrace. The very large pool is well maintained and never busy, a great spot to cool off. We really couldn't have wished for a better apartment in such a wonderful area of Crete. Wendy were so helpful right from the start and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed so that we could really enjoy our holiday. I highly recommend this apartment and would definately return here!

There was very little we could have asked for to make this apartment experience better

We had a wonderful time staying at this gorgeous apartment. Everything was immaculate, beautifully done. Communication with Wendy was top-notch and we were continuously welcomed and cared for during our stay. The location was great and the view was fantastic. We were sad to leave but look forward to returning in the future!

Très beau séjour dans cette maison bien située avec une vue magnifique! Nous avons profité à fond de la piscine dont nous étions les seuls utilisateurs à cette période de l'année. Mais il a fallu fermer les yeux ( et se boucher le nez) dans les "salles de bains" ,extrêmement petites, odeur nauséabonde dans l'une d*elles.Nous avons demandé de changer au moins le rideau de douche, mais en vain!Dans les chambres, pas de couverture propre s'il avait fait plus froid.. Est-ce que Wendy aurait pu éviter les 2 jours de travaux bruyants sur le toit de la maison voisine?? Toutefois, nous ne nous sommes pas attardés sur ces détails et avons passé de magnifiques vacances, repas sur la terrasse, très calme...Almyrida est à recommander!!

Could be improved

I have been to Almyrida several times and after booking wished to tell friends living there the holiday address. Trying to elicit the address was like drawing teeth. Finally after several misleading or incomplete contacts I obtained the correct address not long before flight departure. Why? Firstly, the nice. Good location short walk to centre,shops beach, bars, restaurants. Great views from spacious balcony. Well kept pool . loads of loungers. Well equipped kitchen. Washing machine Fridge/freezer etc .all in good working order Some bottled water and fresh milk in fridge awaiting our arrival --- a nice touch. aircon very efficient (except in 2nd bedroom ) WiFi good and it came free,which was an unexpected bonus Secondly, the not so good.The flat is dated .some damp and smells originated from the first bathroom, where there is no ventilation to outside or extractor fan. There was no information pack--- a quick guide to how things work would have been handy eg. what to do with full rubbish bins. On a 2 week holiday but there was no, cleaning or linen change.Plenty of towels but many worn out. Dvd worked fine but could not get any Tv channels. Wendy said would send someone to sort it but nobody came --but this was no great deal This Accomodation could be greatly improved with a little TLC and better communication with guests. Not sure this going to happen though as the same comments often appear in previous reviews. A shame

Disappointed

The view from the terrace is fantastic however we found the apartment in need of some TLC. On our arrival one of the Air Con units was not working, one of the beds had broken slats and the oven was not connected properly and came away from the wall. We reported these to Wendy and they were fixed over the next few days. As mentioned in previous reviews the main bathroom (which is very small) has no ventilation or extractor fan so in constantly damp and smelly. The WIFI was intermittent and we had use of it for about 7 days out of the 14. The satellite TV is mainly Arabic or French stations with BBC world News being the only English Channel. We were woken at 7am every morning by the builders. Noise from the apartment below was also an issue, we could hear shouting, screaming and movement of furniture from the family that occupied it. The young boy from this apartment was constantly eating and dropping food into the pool. The final straw was when the water went off several times leaving us with no running water at all. The longest we had to endure this was for 36 hours and we had to use the water from the swimming pool to top up the toilet cisterns so we could flush the toilets. Eventually Wendy provided a solution by allowing us to visit another property she owns which was about a 45 minute drive away. In my opinion this is not the high quality accommodation as suggested in the property description. All in all a holiday to forget.

Almyrida is a great place for a relaxing holiday. Great tavernas serving excellent food. Beaches are good The view from the apartment is lovely. The property has everything you need. Nice pool clean and quiet. Large veranda. Bathrooms could do with a makeover and some of the sheets replacing but everything else good. Walk to beach is down hill so up coming back which could be a problem for guests who find walking difficult. Overall a great holiday place I would definitely recommend.

Traumhafte Terrasse mit Meerblick

Die Terrasse ist sehr groß und man hat einen traumhaften Blick auf den Ort und das Meer. Der Pool ist groß und sauber und man kann darin schwimmen! Salzwasser, wie in der Beschreibung angegeben, hat er aber keines. Die Bäder sind etwas klein, aber dafür gibt es ja zwei davon. Alles in allem perfekt zum Erholen. Auch das schöne Städtchen Chania ist nur eine halbe Autostunde entfernt.

Beautiful views but building site next door

We booked last October and had many email correspondence before our trip. We arrived to the apartment to a very smelly property, it smelt like it had not been aired out over the winter. The sheets and bedding were damp and not nice to sleep in. Mould was in the picture frames - big green mould!! It looked like the whole apartment had not been given a refresh at all. We had to call in the caretaker twice because of a continuous running toilet which was so loud. There was no information about the property, ie where to put bins, the local area,how to use oven, you know,the usual information you read when you rent a holiday home. The swimming pool had green residue which one of the holiday tennants needed to clean, the whole area looked very inloved and not refreshed, we were very disppointed. And the most disappointing partof our holiday is that ther eis a 51 bed hotel being built right next door. Builders were working with machinery from 7.45 all day long, there was no peace on the balcony, there was dust,all you can expect from a building site. Awful noise and I was very upset that Wendy did not advise us of this building affecting us right next door. We spoke to holiday tennants next door and they felt exactly the same about their apartment - damp and noisy with the builders. Apparently the winter has been wet and harsh this year, but even so, airing the apartment, making sure no mould and a good clean before guests arrive and of course advising about building sites!!! Some of the apartments have been closed because of the building noise and dust. Wendy should have checked the apartment before guests arrive. I would not stay here again because of the mould and noise issue.

Lovely village and nice apartment.

The apartment was well equipped and comfy with really superb views across the sea and upwards to the still snow-capped white mountains. We went right at the beginning of the season when the weather was still a little cool following a harsh winter. This meant the apartment was cold and a bit damp and a plug in radiator would have been welcome as the aircon didn’t seem to want to blow hot air. The shower rooms could have done with brighter lights and the main bathroom could have benefitted from and extractor fan as it got very wet with no where for the moisture to go. Also somewhere to store your toothbrush other than above the loo would be good! Communication with Wendy was slow initially when I had received nothing about entry details until I chased as I got on the plane on our way there; but she was superbly responsive throughout our stay.

Beautiful views, great pool, we loved it

We stayed for 10 days and had a wonderful time. 5 min walk to the beach, beautiful views and great outdoor balcony. The pool is also great, about 11 m long. Apartment had everything we needed. All in all a wonderful holiday.

Lovely apartment in a wonderful resort, great holiday but expensive wi-fi!

Four days before our stay in this Almyrida apartment and I was very nervous, having paid for our accommodation in full but received no information or address despite several chasing emails. I was also a bit peeved at having to pay an extra 55 euros for Wi-Fi during our 10 night stay (I'm pretty sure that no-one pays 2000 euros a year for Wi-Fi, which is the pro-rata of 5.5 euros per night). Anyway, two complaints over, I did receive directions eventually and once there we had a lovely vacation in Wendy's home. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. There is access to a shared pool which was always immaculately clean and warm. Furniture was of a reasonable to high standard and all rooms had air-con which was very welcome in the July heat! The views from the apartment were impressive. I'm missing them already. The village of Almyrida is fantastic. A short walk to the resort centre with a lovely beach (crystal clear waters, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas) and lots of places to eat out in the evening.
