Esta casa de campo, votada como la casa rural número 1 de Hampshire por The Guardian, se encuentra en un entorno impresionante y está rodeada de un paisaje ondulado. The Stables ofrece un retiro privado y tranquilo de 5 estrellas en el punto más meridional de West Meon y se alquila durante semanas enteras, pero ocasionalmente para estancias más cortas en invierno. Esta cabaña elegantemente renovada con piscina (compartida) tiene su propio acceso privado y jardín. Es ideal para todo tipo de actividades debido a su ubicación. A 20 minutos de la costa, a 20 minutos de Winchester, a 10 minutos del ferrocarril más cercano, al aeropuerto de Southampton a 30 minutos. Las actividades en el campo a la vuelta de la esquina incluyen caminatas fabulosas, ya que estamos en un parque nacional, pesca, equitación, ciclismo y golf, mientras que National Trust Houses y ciudades históricas, como Winchester, están a menos de 30 minutos. We loved it!

We arrived stressed, but as soon as we had entered The Stables and enjoyed the wonderful view over the meadows and forests, the holiday could begin. Vanessa gave us a warm welcome and we felt right at home. The only difference was that a lovely afternoon tea, wonderful flowers and a bottle of sparkling wine were already waiting for us. We weren't very lucky with the weather, but that didn't matter. When it rains, it's wonderful to sit on the sofa and enjoy the view outside, drink tea and watch one of the many DVDs waiting in the cupboard. Nothing is missing in the kitchen, bathroom or anywhere else, Vanessa has always thought of everything. We would love to come back and look forward to the next time at The Stables.

An Amazing Property

An amazing property, which we found very, very comfortable, in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Arriving in the middle of a power cut, Vanessa and Mark could not have been more helpful keeping us updated on the progress of reconnection and the welcome gifts were most thoughtful. Throughout our stay they we’re attentive but discrete hosts. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Exquisitely beautiful

Exquisite isn't a word that you can apply to very much these days, but it applies to The Stables. The location, the view, the interior all fit that description. From the moment you arrive and find a lovely afternoon cream tea prepared and waiting to be enjoyed, and a chilled bottle of bubbly ready to be popped and sipped while taking in the expansive view of the South Downs, you know your stay is going to be a special one. We were fortunate with the weather and were able to use the beautiful large pool on all but one day of our stay. And last but by no means least, Vanessa, our host, was definitely 'the hostess with the mostest', as the now old saying goes!

The Perfect Carefree Getaway

From the moment we arrived we were transported to a spa-like feeling of being pampered. Vanessa has created an oasis of calm and comfort. Her attention to detail, and desire to make sure her guests enjoy their stay made it difficult to leave.

Exceptional

The Stables is exceptional, we have rented many cottages but this one is like an advent calendar, every cupboard door opened holds a surprise, opened a kitchen cupboard to find more than a dozen kinds of tea, needs herbs for your meal, all you need in another. Bathroom has a double sink, free standing bath, large shower area all with large white fluffy towels. Living room has bi- fold doors which open out to a stunning view over acres of fields. Outside a huge lawn with Gazebo, tables and chairs, BBQ, patio with tables and chairs and that great view. On arrival we had from the owner a lovely afternoon tea.

Heaven on earth

I don't even know where to begin with this review, I could write pages! Vanessa is the most wonderful host and just a generally fantastic person - she is kind, gracious, extremely thoughtful and puts so much love and care into The Stables. She thinks of absolutely everything – there were so many unique thoughtful touches that set this property apart from any other 5* property. Vanessa really goes above and beyond. My husband and I got to know Vanessa and her family during our stay, and I just can't say enough good things about the entire family. As for the property itself, it is unbelievably clean, cozy, charming, romantic, peaceful and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. As city people, we have a hard time finding true peace and quiet, and were so relieved to find it at the Stables. We were lucky to have the view of the bucolic sheep which made us feel as though we were in a true countryside fairy tale. There were 1 or 2 heatwave days over the course of our stay, and we were so fortunate to have access to the gorgeous pool- we felt like we were on holiday in Italy! I almost don't want to review this property because I selfishly want it all to myself, but I like Vanessa so much that it’s only fair to share my glowing thoughts with others :-) We have stayed in 5* properties around the world and this is by far our favourite. We have already booked again for our anniversary later this year. Thank you Vanessa!

A perfect holiday home.

We never tire of visiting The Stables. We have stayed five times in different seasons and each holiday has been wonderful. The joy is, one almost welcomes bad weather because it's a good excuse to stay in and enjoy the luxurious surroundings, hidden treats and wonderful views. We love the peace and quiet, the fascinating array of wild life, the walks, the village - everything Vanessa is an amazing host who provides perfect facilities, is attentive and welcoming but never intrusive. The Stables sets the benchmark for our self catering destinations but so far we've not found one that comes anywhere near this. Our next stay is already booked! The Stables is in a class of its own.

The property is maintained to an extremely high standard. Attention to detail is outstanding.

We have stayed at ‘The Stables’ twice now and look forward to returning again as soon as we can. The accommodation is beautifully furnished, equipped with everything you could possibly want and with some lovely extra touches. Both times we have left feeling relaxed and recharged and wishing we had booked for longer! The owner’s attention to detail is second to none.

Extremely high standard and very spacious retreat

From booking to leaving, Vanessa and Mark have been incredibley nice and communication from Vanessa was amazing with everything explained and sorted for myself and my girlfriends long weekend stay.. The minute we arrived we were blown away with the lovely welcome note and treats laid out for us. The stables is so spacious and luxurious we felt completely spoilt and being a wheelchair user it was very accessible, we had just the most amazing relaxing time with the best views of the country side.... We will be back in new year 100% Dan and Zoe

The Stables West Meon

We were given a warm welcome from Vanessa along with warm freshly baked cakes and a cream tea, milk butter and eggs were also freshly supplied. The lodge is warm and very comfortable, and finished to a very high standard. We were amazed at the quantity of supplies provided, the owners have thought of everything. We will definitely return.

Perfection.

This exquisite cottage is a genuine super-star; it is everything it is advertised to be and much, much more. Luxuriously comfortable and well equipped we wanted for nothing, but it was Vanessa's special touches that were well above and beyond that made The Stables feel like a true home-away-from-home. Lovely walks from the doorstep--with maps thoughtfully provided--and inspiring views right out the windows. Charming pub with good food (and ale), butcher and village shop only a 10-15 minute walk away. We were lucky enough to have new lambs in the field opposite which was a wonderful bit of bucolic spender. We plan to return as soon as we can. Thank you Vanessa!!

Wonderful Property with Charming Hosts

There is little I can say that has not already been said by previous guests. All those previous glowing reviews are spot on. The cottage was cozy, comfortable, and luxurious. My absolute favorite room was the bathroom with the incredible view, free-standing tub, and heated floors. I have been spoiled for anything less, including my own home. I hope to return sometime soon in warmer weather so that I can fully use the gorgeous outside areas. The access to hiking along the South Downs Way is terrific and the availability of Wellington boots made slogging through some of the muddier bits painless. Vanessa and Mark were friendly, helpful, and very kind. I am so happy that I got to stay here.

Absolutely stunning.

Like home from home. Vanessa had thought of everything and more, we kept finding little surprises which was such a treat. Even though the weather wasn't brilliant, we still managed to get out and about but it was lovely to come back and cosy up. Thank you, we definitely intend to book again and will recommend you highly to friends and family.

Very comfortable and peaceful

We had a lovely winter hibernation here in this extremely comfortable and well equipped converted stable. It's secluded but not isolated, the village is 10 minutes walk away(down a steep hill - good exercise on the way back!), with a small shop and cafe, nice pub and very good butchers. There are lovely views over the Hampshire downs and at night no lights can be seen at all... And we greatly appreciated all the many thoughtful items Vanessa had arranged, including a cream tea waiting when we arrived, and beautiful fresh flowers. We hope to be able to return when the weather is better and explore the many enticing walks in the area.

Bliss in the Southdowns

This property won a "coolest" award from the Guardian and rightly so. It was fantastic!! - and that's not said lightly. At long last, a UK self catering property that bills itself as "luxury" and actually lives up to the moniker. 'Luxury" has is a much abused adjective we've found sadly in our stays. If the devil is in the detail then so must be the delight which hits you from the moment you walk in to be greeted by the loveliest high tea awaiting. The place just smelt gorgeous to start with. The peace and quiet are seriously blissful. From every window - including the fully opening french doors, all you see are fields, trees and green lawns except for the occasional squirrel, pheasant or other wildlife. Vanessa, the host is next door, but you don't have a sense of anyone else being there at all. The kitchen had everything I could imagine needing including some extra helpful basic food items and a Nespresso machine with general amount of pods left. However ... the big ticket sellers - the biggest luxury bathroom we've ever encountered ANYWHERE. Complete with luxy amenities and big beautiful towels. The bed is also extremely comfortable and the bed linens top notch. Every time we turned around there was some really thoughtful little detail to make your stay a bit more relaxing. We kept on saying "wow - somebody thought to include that". There was a yoga mat and hand weights in a cupboard if you please. The bathrobes even fitted perfectly. We did a lot of walks and hikes every day. We didn't use them, but there were at least 4-5 sizes of high quality gum boots just for the purpose. There's a swimming pool available too - but being December we just used our imagination re that. Thank's Vanessa and well done.

Amazing little cottage that is perfect for a little weekend away

this place really does have it all. with the welcoming Cava and fresh baked cakes we knew we were in for a lovely stay. the kitchen is fully stocked and there is sky sports available as well which was perfect to watch some of the live matches. but the real crowd pleaser is the bathroom, perfectly lit at night and underfloor heating it really is the perfect bathroom. location is great as well and we ate at the thomas lord in west meon one night and the place is certainly worth checking out. we look forward to coming back

You won't be disappointed!

There is little to add that has not already been mentioned previously by all the other guests that have stayed at the Stables. We stayed for a week in Mid-October after our wedding in nearby Petersfield; and what a wonderful way to relax and unwind after such an overwhelming day! We both found Vanessa to be warm and welcoming, and her attention to detail is impeccable - she truly understand what it is that makes her guests feel comfortable and at home. The accommodation and facilities themselves are top of the range, high-quality and well-maintained. It would be hard to name something that you may require that wasn't already provided by Vanessa. It is a truly beautiful location to just sit back and take a moment to enjoy the tranquility and peace that this property offers. You are away from the world and alone with your thoughts (and the sheep!). We hope to one day return and would definitely advise any potential guests to give the Stables a go - you definitely won't be disappointed!

I love living in Hampshire because of its peace and tranquility and have also enjoyed working in the city 12 years before starting a family. Now that the children are at university, I have set up a small business in property development and planning consultancy and enjoy designing buildings and their interiors. My husband and I have traveled a little and have stayed in some guests houses, some of which have been just fabulous. My aim is to create a special experience for my guests and offer a unique opportunity to enjoy our gorgeous countryside and stunning views in a luxurious style and comfort where they feel genuinely pampered.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Having enjoyed London and all it offers, it seemed fitting to move to the country when we had small children. The house we chose is in a fine location, set up high on the hills where glorious views can be enjoyed. The Stables are part of our property and has its own private drive and access, private garden and terrace and is in more elevated position than the house which makes it such a perfect retreat. We invite our guest to make use of the pool which is only yards away and is a floral delight. Converting The Stables, at the end of 2012, has been a fabulous project and real chance to create something unique and cutting edge. Light and space were most important. Here, enjoy the peace and tranquillity with shops, post office, butcher and gastro pub just 5 mins walk away.

The location of this property together with its fresh design is undoubtedly something, we feel, is special. It has been designed to suit those in wheelchairs (with large doorways and wet rooms) and equally has the romantic feel to it too.

Horses are welcome for those wanting a riding holiday.

Whilst this cottage is nettled in an oasis of peace, there is a plethora a activities to do, just short distances away. Golf, fishing, riding, tennis, cycling are all here on the doorstep. There are number of National Trust houses within 30 mins. The historic town of Winchester with its shopping and fine dining is only 20 mins. Take a ferry to the Isle of Wight just 30 mins away. Beaches are 35 mins away and there are some gorgeous walks here all around this National Park. This property benefits from all modern conveniences from electric blankets, SKY TV, Netflix underfloor heating, tranquility and much more...
