La Rocque es una antigua casa de campo hecha de piedra, de unos 400 años. Ha sido hermosamente renovada y bien equipada. Está rodeada de jardines de más de tres cuartos de acre, en la encantadora campiña de Normandía, a 10 km al norte de Saint-Lô. El cómodo alojamiento tiene 3 plantas. En la planta baja, el salón tiene un hermoso cielo raso de vigas y una gran chimenea. También hay un cómodo salón con televisión y acceso a Internet. La cocina está completamente equipada. Hay un cuarto de lavado y un cuarto de juegos con una mesa de ping pong. En la planta baja encontrará 4 habitaciones y cuartos de baño. En la segunda planta, el altillo ha sido convertido en una adorable sala de estar adicional para relajarse con hermosas vigas. Dos personas más pueden alojarse en el sofá cama (total de 12 personas). En esta planta hay otra habitación doble y un cuarto de baño adjunto. Afuera, los jardines son fantásticos para relajarse, jugar petanca u observar el atardecer tomando una copa de vino.

Charming historic house with big garden

Comfortable, Spacious Home with Great Facilities

We stayed in this lovely, rural house for 2 weeks, a family group of 5 adults and 5 older children (age 11-15). It was very well equipped in all areas from the kitchen to the pool. The outdoor space was great for BBQ's or just enjoying the evening sunshine. Lots of family games for indoors and out, the pool especially popular with the younger ones. There was plenty of space for us all in bedrooms and reception areas. Pam could not have been more helpful, a great host. All in all, it made for a very relaxing summer holiday.

Finally got to France!

The property is delightful, full of history, it provided everything for our much anticipated family holiday after previous postponed holidays! The house is well equipped. Our grandson particularly enjoyed the pool and the table tennis table. We really do need to practice more! The Boulanger is in the village was excellent. The Casino provided odds and ends. We all enjoyed visiting the war graves at Bayeux and the beach my dad landed on back in June 1944. Pam, our host was very helpful and welcoming. We appreciated the wine and cider chilling in the fridge on our arrival. Thank you

Beautiful house perfect for a large group

We had a wonderful week at La Rocque over New Year. The house is beautiful, old and fully of character. We found that there was plenty of living space and bedrooms for 10 adults to spend the week comfortably. It's excellent value for a big group. The area is lovely, with lots to see and do, and beautiful countryside. Highlights for us were the D Day beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry. Pamela was a lovely host and was very helpful, pointing out the best things to do in the local area. The only thing to consider is how much you might need to use the wifi. There is a good connection in the house but only in a few areas, and we struggled to get signal in the lounge areas, as the walls are so thick. This wasn't a problem for us as we were looking to escape everything, but it wouldn't be ideal if you needed to be contactable at all times. All in all, excellent value and very highly recommended!

As far as the wi-fi is concerned, I am sorry that it is not better, but of course medieval houses with thick walls situated in rural Normandy were not designed for it! I am constantly looking at ways to improve it and hope, too, that there are many like yourselves, who come to this part of the world to escape being constantly contactable.

A Happy Family Holiday

When planning a holiday to suit four generations of a family there is always the risk that someone may not be happy; need not have worried because La rocque exceeded everyones expectations. The beautiful farmhouse made a wonderful base for seeing the sights that northern Normandy has to offer. There was ample space for our party of 13 and we never felt cramped either in the farmhouse or in the gardens. Pam was a fantastic host, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for her, even before we arrived she was a great source of local knowledge. The farmhouse had everything we could possibly need and more. There were ample towels and beach towels provided and more than enough crockery, glasses and cutlery. The pool was well-used as was the table tennis table, cricket and bikes that were all provided. We visited the sites of the D-day landings in the 70th anniversary year. The main reason for our choice of Normandy was to take my mother-in-law to see the Bayeux tapestry as an 80th birthday treat-she wasn't disappointed. Canoeing was also enjoyed by some members of the party. In short, as a base for our family holiday, La Rocque was exceptional and we had a fantastic time. Thank you Pam

Très bon séjour à la Rocque

Maison de campagne très agréable, restaurée avec gout, bien équipée et décorée pour qu’on s’y sente accueilli chaleureusement. Très propre, linge de maison de qualité. Jeux et jouets pour enfants nombreux et appréciés. Piscine et table de ping pong bien utilisés pendant notre séjour. Espace extérieur très grand, environnement calme et reposant. Accueil très sympathique par la propriétaire, Pamela. Bonne boulangerie et tous commerces à 5 minutes en voiture (ou vélo).

Parfait pour un week-end entre amis

Nous avons passé un très bon week-end dans cette jolie maison. La maison de Pamela a le charme d'une ancienne maison normande, mais tout l'équipement nécessaire pour passer un très bon séjour. Nous étions 6 adultes et 6 enfants, et avions toute la place et le confort nécessaire. Pamela est vraiment très gentille et très accueillante, elle nous attendait malgré notre arrivée tardive et a répondu à toutes nos demandes. Merci encore !

Un très agréable séjour

Nous avons passé un magnifique séjour dans la maison d'hôtes de Pamela. Nous nous sommes réunis en famille pour les fêtes de fin d'année et petits et grands ont trouvé leur compte. Véritable maison familliale, la maison est très fonctionnelle, les enfants ont pu profiter malgré la pluie de la grange avec des parties endiablées de ping pong pendant que les adultes discutaient autour d'un feu de cheminée. Chacun a trouvé sa place autour de la table (et nous étions 12). La maison est agréable et chaleureuse. Merci encore à notre hôte pour cet accueil.

Maison très agréable et environnement vraiment calme, le seul petit bémol est que quelques chambres sont en enfilades, il vaut donc mieux bien se connaitre.

Merci pour votre commentaire qui était dans l’ensemble très positif. Quant au petit bémol sur les chambres, je voudrais juste dire que trois des chambres ne sont pas en enfilade et la quatrième n’est en enfilade que quand on se sert du canapé-lit. La cinquième chambre où il y a des lits superposés et qui est en enfilade, est utilisée la plupart du temps par des enfants, alors je pense que ce n’est pas vraiment un inconvénient.

Very comfortable and fun stay for young and old

A wonderful stay at a beautiful old and authentic Normandy house surrounded by a huge garden where kids can play and the older can enjoy the peaceful surroundings. A nice, refreshing pool when the weather is warm. All made possible with true English hospitality, Pam helps you out with every question you have. The beach and lots of interesting or historical sights are just a short drive from the house, as well as towns and villages of interest to visit. The house is very complete and feels like being at home and more....definitely worth coming back to as it has all ingredients for a nice and relaxing holiday!

Great place for families

We had a lovely week in Pamela's house. The host is absolutely adorable and the house has everything needed. The garden is big and next to a cow field - which delighted my 1YO baby! Absolutely recommended!

A Great Respite From Urban Overload

Pamela couldn't have been more helpful or available, both before we arrived and afterward. The grounds are expansive, as is the interior of the house. Plenty of room inside 3 stories to relax and have time alone, if desired. Enjoyed the rustic charm of a farm home with all the dishes, silverware, dishwasher, washer and dryer, bicycles, towels and linens, etc. to accommodate us as grandparents and our son's family with two little boys. Didn't expect that the above ground pool would be used and enjoyed as much as it was by the 4 yr. old and 1 1/2 yr old. The closest village, Saint Clair-sur-l'Elle (a 3 minute drive and 10 minute bike trip with a small but adequate supermarket), has a patisserie that outshines all the others in the area and would have been worth the trip just for its bread alone. The lack of air-conditioning or fans was a concern for our August visit, but the stone walls moderated the temperature and nights cooled off sufficiently that it wasn't an issue. All in all, a wonderful time tasting the Normandy experience. Speaking of tasty, for an upscale wonderful meal in a lovely setting, go to La Ferme du Chateau in Agneaux.

Home away from home!

I just can’t say enough nice things about this property and Pamela. I brought my wife and two young boys to Normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings and Pamela welcomed us as if we were old friends or family. The home was warm and inviting and can accommodate a very large group even though we were only four. We actually only used the upstairs bedrooms and downstairs kitchen. While the home has a long colorful history it is completely up to date with all the amenities you could ask for and more. A short drive to the Normandy beaches and all of the major towns and sites. The surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful and everything you could hope for from a visit to Normandy. Pam provided us with everything we needed including recommendations for restaurants inconveniences. We were even able to sit and talk with her in the front yard and share a bottle of wine. I highly recommend this property and would gladly return on a future visit. Thank you Pam!

Thank you very much for your lovely comments on your stay at my house in Normandy. I really loved having you to stay and would be very happy to welcome you back again, if you decided on another visit to this area. You came for the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings and you certainly made the most of the short time you were here in seeking out some of the many interesting places Normandy has to offer. After a day’s tourism it was also nice to be able to share a bottle of wine with you in the peace and tranquillity of the garden.

Belle maison ancienne restaurée avec goût.

Un accueil dans une maison ancienne restaurée avec goût. Une voisine super sympa qui nous a accueilli avec beaucoup gentillesse. Un endroit au calme, sous un soleil présent pour tout le week end de Pâques. Mme Mann, la propriétaire, qui a pris le temps des échanges pour la préparation de notre séjour. Merci pour tout.

We very much enjoyed our holiday in Pam's beautiful house

The house is set in peaceful rural Normandy close to the village of St Claire which has good everyday food shopping - and 3 hairdressers. We enjoyed cycling through quiet lanes, trips to the beaches and visiting D-day museums. The house is spacious and very well equipped; our grandchildren enjoyed the large garden, games and pool. It is an ideal setting for a large family gathering. Pam was great - always welcoming and helpful and full of information.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at La Rocque and made the most of the places of historical interest that this part of rural Normandy has to offer. As you say the house is ideal for an extended family gathering. You were also ideal guests and I would be delighted to welcome you here once again, should you choose to return.
