Actualizado en 2018, Sandown es una casa al revés espaciosa y cómoda que ofrece la ubicación perfecta para una familia o un grupo de amigos que buscan una casa de vacaciones excepcionalmente bien equipada. Las principales ventajas de Sandown incluyen que cada habitación de invitados tiene sus propias duchas privadas y TV, todo en la planta baja, ¡no muy lejos para llevar su equipaje! La casa cuenta con amplio estacionamiento para hasta 4 autos dentro de los terrenos. La cocina y el cuarto de servicio están muy equipados con la mayoría de los utensilios y utensilios de cocina que encontrarás en casa. Y el relajante salón y el comedor se encuentran arriba para aprovechar las vistas a la cordillera.

Estamos ubicados en una zona tranquila de Bowness-on-Windermere, en el corazón del distrito de los lagos de Inglaterra. Nuestra ubicación está en la carretera principal del lago, justo al borde del pueblo, por lo que estamos a solo unos minutos a pie del lago Windermere y todo lo que el pueblo de Bowness tiene para ofrecer o Windermere está a 20 minutos a pie.

Somos amigables con los perros y damos la bienvenida a un perro de buen comportamiento por el que no cobramos nada, pero si desea traer 2 perros, comuníquese conmigo antes de la reserva para solicitar permiso, hacemos una tarifa de limpieza adicional de £ 40 para un segundo perro.

Great location, spotlessly clean.

We had a great week in very wet weather, the house was warm and clean, just a few minutes into Bowness with lots of lovely shops and cafes.

ideal for several people

We all really enjoyed staying in this house. The house is very comfortably furnished and ideal for several people. The loccation is also very good if you want to do many outdoor activities in the Lake District.

Nice week in the lakes

The property is in a great location and had everything we needed. Ample off street parking for our party. The 4 ensuite rooms were ok, but personally we found the shower rooms a touch too small, but overall a great stay

Rather than 1 larger bathroom for 7 guests we have 4 bathrooms in each of our 4 bedrooms which most of our guests seem to value more. Thanks for staying with us.

Ideal location for Bowness-on-Windermere & Windermere

Sandown is well situated for walking into Bowness and Windermere. Parking is a bonus . The dinning and lounge area on the upper floor are spacious.

Family holiday

We had a brilliant week at Sandown. Location was perfect just a few mins walk into centre of town. We loved the house it had everything we needed. Communication with Georgie was excellent. We would definitely stay again 😊

new year holiday at sandown house

Very clean and well equipped property. All bedrooms are en-suite with very comfortable beds. It is well situated for all amenities, having lovely olde worlde pubs, restaurants and lots of shops to visit. We highly recommend staying at sandown house and would love to visit again.

Great base

Really good base location. Not sure we liked the upside down house, but everything we needed was there. Living space is lovely ! Bathrooms a bit small and quite tired .

Our description does mention in a few places that we are an upside down house this is to make the most of the views. We also appreciate personal taste is not always the same but our bathrooms were updated in January 2022, 2 of them are smaller than the others but all have a standard shower, washbasin & toilet. sandown house, bowness on windermere

This property is stunning, situated within a few minutes of bowness on windermere. There is plenty of parking and the house has everything you need and more. We spent a week here with family and 2 dogs and we were all impressed with the facilities and excellent location. There is plenty to do for all ages from beautiful walks to a boat trip on one of the many lakes. We would certainly recommend the house and hope to all return again soon.

Great Family Holiday

The house is in a great location just a short walk to everyhting you need. The kids called it an upside down house because the living areas are upstairs which worked really well for our group, especially as each bedroom has its own facilities!! The customer service we received was first class, great communication and really accomodating of our needs, a real pleasure to deal with!

Location location location

This was an excellent choice for our extended family holiday following a wedding reception at the Hydro. A 15 minute walk to Bowness pier passing a couple of small supermarkets on the way for groceries. There are also several good restaurants within a five minute walk. The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived, was very well equipped and maintained. Georgeene was very helpful with enquiries and very pleasant to deal with. No hesitation in recommending the house.

Summer Break in the Lake District

We had a wonderful stay and Georgie could not be more accommodating including allowing us to check in a day earlier due to the prior guests checking out early. The house is well equipped and the location is almost exactly in between Windermere and Bowness. We loved the fact we could walk in both directions so the location is just ideal. We would thoroughly recommend this house for any family looking to explore the Lake District. We really appreciated the communication both prior to and during out stay. The welcome pack that was provided, included a parking pass and some goodies that the family really enjoyed. Would go back in the future if we are in the area.

Couldn't Have Been Better

The property was as shown, the owner very friendly and helpful (especially the welcome gift of wine & milk!!). We were four friends relaxing after a River Boat tour in France and the contrast between the two countries was delightful. The bus stop right at the front door provided our gateway to exploring the area and Beresford Restaurant right across the street was excellent food at most reasonable prices. Sandown House

Sandown House is ideally located for exploring the Lake District. The accommodation was very well equipped and it's upside down configuration made the most of the views from the upstairs windows (would not recommend for those with a mobility disability). The house is on a busy road and there is little outside space for BBQ etc. although there is a small park across the road where supervised children can play. The owners are located next door but do not intrude upon house guests but are there if needed. I would recommend Sandown as a base but would have liked more outside space around the property.

Many thanks for your comments we are glad you found the house well equipped. Although there is a lot of outside space around the house it is not really landscaped as a garden as such as guests have always prized parking for multiple cars more important given our central location where off road parking is hard to find. But as you say there is a nice park directly opposite the house and a completely contained play park a few yards away to the rear of the house and Bowness is only a few minutes walk away which has a few parks and lots of outside space.

5 Stars from us!

The house is comfortable, nicely furnished and most importantly super clean. Lots of room for all of us with comfy beds and 4 bathrooms was a godsend. The kitchen was great with all the gadgets you’d have at home. Georgie was really helpful and certainly has thought of everything you might need for a great holiday. The location could not be better, far enough away from the hustle and bustle but only a short stroll walk away. The house has many great reviews, when we booked we only noted only one poor one, which in all honestly, now we have stayed we think the people were posting about a different house or must have been very strange as we could not find any faults. In fact we have already looked at dates to book for June. We have given 5 stars and would highly recommend to any family wanting a great location, great house and lovely host. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Promises a lot but delivery of quality amenities poor.

The bedrooms were very small and did not provide bathrooms x 4 Bed & bath is misleading. Pokey shower facilities and some shower cubicles were without soap trays or shampoo shelves to use as one showers. No door hooks adequately provided. Water trickled out of the showers making it imposssible to lather up. Bedding was very old and tired.I’ve thrown better away. Kitchen looked adequate until one came to find the right pans for the induction rings. Only one pan Was provided, the others would not function, big oversight this. Washing machine but no soap powered provided!!! Poor all round, couldn’t wait to get home. Over priced and neglected. Doors didn’t close. Carpets were fitted but doors not!!!! Clothes hanging facilities a sad joke. Less than ikea standard. My advice don’t go to this place. Next door guests were noisy and when reported contact was disbelieving.

We would never respond negatively to a guest comments as we value all feedback, however on this occasion, for the sake of any future guests, we feel it is necessary to state that this review was left quite deliberately to be damaging as we were sure the guest would do from their questionable attitude. We are unsure why they thought it was OK to damage our property, leave it in a dreadful condition, taking over twice the usual time to clean and empty of all rubbish & recycling, and be rude to both ourselves and other guests whilst staying over Christmas. As they have decided to leave a dishonest and contrair review I feel I should state the facts. We have 4 bathrooms, quality ‘Secret Linen’ bedding, 2 sets of induction pans (if 1 worked they all do), Wayfair open wardrobes (which can be seen on our images) and fire doors. We did not provide washing powder just everything else! In addition to VRBO, we are on many other advertising platforms as well as our website; all of which show our genuine reviews. On VRBO we have an ‘4.7 Excellent Rating’ this is based on what our guests rate us. The only contact we had from these guests was a series of rude & disjointed messages on Christmas Day night at 12.30am about banging noises heard outside which was “my fault so I needed to sort it”. Even though we were asleep we responded to see what we could do, and it was very clear this was not the guests next door as they said! We have no issue with people enjoying themselves but there is a level of respect and appropriateness which most people would assume; on this occasion not so. After over 8 years of letting my 2 properties I can honestly say we have so many lovely guests and if there were any truth to this review I know we would not have been successfully letting for such a long time with good reviews. So, I will let those other reviews speak for the quality of our property.

A super location with all local amenities near by.

Overall, the location is a huge advantage and we had a really lovely time. The house itself is comfortable, but we did not think it warranted the 'immaculate' listing it was given. The listing photos show the more up to date areas but other areas, not photographed, are in need of improvement to warrant the house being described as immaculate. A couple of examples being, bedroom door handle almost falling off (which was tricky as the door to the bedroom got stuck on the new carpet and wouldn't shut or open easily), a lot of dirty and chipped crockery, dirty windows and tea towels with brown stain on. We were there at a busy time and road noise is very evident. The host is very friendly and easy to get in touch with. We had a lovely welcome basket of goodies on arrival, which was very thoughtful.

Thank you for your review and we are glad you had a good week. We are a little confused what the immaculate listing was as VRBO doesn’t apply types of listings to properties. We do have an ‘Excellent’ rating, but this is not something given to us from VRBO it is based on our previous guests’ reviews. We do show images of all the rooms on the property page so guests can see the whole house and Sandown is fully decorated and refurbished every January, including new carpeting throughout and double-glazed windows being installed this year. It is unfortunate that you did not report the handle issue to us during your stay as we would have happily sorted this for you, hopefully as we provide 3 full crockery settings per person you had plenty of other plates to use, but we will certainly check these now you have mentioned a few were chipped. Our window cleaner attends the house every 2 weeks. We are glad you enjoyed the hamper and hope you took home some great family memories of the beautiful Lake District.

Good house, great location

Overall very good and number of improvements made. Pity en-suites not larger, but no space to do.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. It was nice to meet you and we are glad you had a good week enjoying the house and the Lakes. Although 2 of the 4 en-suites are a little smaller than the others as you have said, there is no potential to make them larger but they are modern. clean, fit for purpose and at least all our bedrooms each have their own bathroom, which we are told by many of our guests that is big bonus to the house.. Excellent holiday home

Lovely house with everything you need. In a great location, very close to Windermere town centre. Georgie was very helpful both prior and during our stay. Would stay again.

Family holiday

The property is in a brilliant position for all amenities.It’s a short stroll to the shops,bars,restaurants and the lake.The bus stop is positioned in front of the property which is ideal if you don’t fancy driving. The house was everything as explained in the advertisement.A nice touch,was a welcome pack left for us on our arrival.In addition to that we had a great host in Georgeene who was available at hand at anytime to sort out any problems if needed.I would definitely return in the future for another family holiday.

The Lake District is a must stay for anyone visiting the UK or looking for a beautiful part of the UK to holiday in as there is so much to see and do as well as appreciating our stunning scenery.

Windermere is the ideal base for The Lake District as it has excellent restaurants, specialist & boutique shops, tea shops, wine bars & old traditional English pubs. From The Pier you can enjoy a trip around Lake Windermere hopping on and off at the traditional villages or ride the Lakeside steam train. There are lots for the kids to do like fun farms, Go Ape, a zoo, the aquarium etc. Alternatively from our front door you are already only minutes away from breath-taking views and many beautiful scenic walks, hikes and bike rides. But if you fancy a change from all that you can go climbing, sailing, golfing, fishing, horse riding, off roading, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking or visit the many historic houses, safari parks, award winning gardens, the list goes on with something for all.

The house is in the perfect location in a quiet yet central position within the Windermere area only a 5 minute gentle stroll to Lake Windermere and a few minutes’ walk down to the village of Bowness (on the Lake) or 20 minutes walk up the hill to Windermere village.

All our guests rooms are located on the ground floor as as make the most of the mountains views from upstairs. Unlike many cottages in the area with a central location we have private off road parking for approx. 4 cars within our grounds.

And all our bedrooms have their own shower en suite so no queuing for the bathroom or the loo at any time! Plus all bedrooms have their own TV.

We offer free Wi-Fi, we are dog friendly and we have a small outside seating area to enjoy if you want to have a BBQ etc.
