Regarding the upstairs bedrooms getting quite warm when the weather is exceptionally hot, we are in the process of having some very effective ceiling fans fitted, which will make all the difference. We were very upset to hear that you did not enjoy your holiday at our second home. Over the ten years that we and our guests have stayed at our house we have never had such negative feedback. To respond specifically; we were not made aware of any issues until five days after arrival and we addressed a number of your issues within 24 hours. Neither were we made aware of any mobility issues which we would hope that potential guests would talk to us about prior to any booking. We will always be happy to advise if we don't think our home is suitable. The pool was cleaned the day before arrival but there were some significant and repeated storms which can cause some debris to fall into the pool from surrounding trees. We ask guests in our information pack to make us aware immediately of any such issues. Again we were not made aware of this until five days after arrival. We, the owners, had cleared any weeds around the pool two weeks before arrival. Our neighbour cleared the area for you when we heard from you and reported there was a handful of small new weeds. We don't understand the comments about outside furniture as we were at the house ourselves two weeks earlier as was another guest family before your stay. However, on hearing your feedback we immediately replaced two loungers. The main bed is a normal double in a large French frame as shown in the photos. Guests of many shapes and sizes have stayed at the house without complaint. The stairs are not a ladder. They are a little steeper than a normal staircase and are clearly shown in the photos. Many adults have used the upstairs rooms, including ourselves, without any issue. Again, we would have been happy to advise had we been made aware of any mobility issues. We reject the claim that the property is damp or smells of damp. There is no evidence and never has been of any damp or smell of damp in the house. The very old wooden beams do have a natural smell of wood. The extreme wet weather which is beyond our control did cause a little water to come in through the kitchen doors onto the tiled floor but this was largely mitigated by our proactive intervention and easily cleaned up. We have also fully renovated the doors since your stay to prevent this from happening again. There are clearly two steps from the kitchen up to the garden and veranda. We are sorry that you fell down and again we were given no indication of any mobility issues regarding steps. The steps are not an unusual size and are wide. No request for or mention of compensation was made at any point by you. To restate, this is our much loved second home and we take great pride in making it as lovely and well equipped as we can for our guests. We have had many very positive reviews and feedback from guests over ten years. The house is old, which we believe is part of its charm. As such it may not suit guests with mobility issues.
