A Basic Trailer with Basic Beds

We did not have a very positive stay at this VRBO. This is obviously (from the pictures) a single wide trailer. 2 Bedrooms in the rental, 1 at each end, with an additional adjacent bedroom added on as an enclosed exterior room with a wall unit for A/C. The property rules state “do not” lower the A/C below 74 degrees so the A/C is not adequate for the heat of the day in Zapata at 100+. Cleanliness: The residence needs a good top to bottom cleaning, the dust collection on the fan blades made me not want to turn them on for fear of a dust shower. The advertisement states internet, in the fine print at the bottom of the description, it states “coming soon”. There is no internet. The neighbors in the adjacent red house were playing music on Saturday night until 4:30am. There was scratching in the wall from some sort of rodent, there were cockroaches found each morning dead in the bath room. Overall, this was not a positive experience and we will not be staying here again.

Great Fishing Cabin

We hunted and fished in the area over Labor Day weekend and had a great time! The house was perfect for our trip. Raul was very helpful in answering questions and providing information. Thank you!

Fair price decent rental nice people

Good place fairly up to date ! It was pretty clean . We felt safe ,and had absolutely no problems. The only downfall was it was 97 outside and although it stayed ok inside .you can only turn a/c down to 76 .but I like it to be 70 . Overall we had a good trip ! Super nice guy easy to work with .!

Best Vacation Ever!

We stayed at Bassman’s "Casita", beautiful red house, for my birthday weekend Jan 27-30, 2018. Raul Perez is awesome. He responds promptly to any question and is very accommodating. The house is very nice. We love the design of rustic/nautical. Love the floors and the skylight in the living room. Outside the loft floor is a huge outdoor deck with an awesome view of Falcon Lake. There was 4 of us staying in the house and there was plenty of room for us plus a lot of extra space to feel comfortable. The fishing there is outrageous! When we first got out on the water and settled our boat at the bridge, within 30 minutes we caught 5 white bass. We brought home 14 keepers, even caught 3 catfish but didn't keep those. We originally paid for 2 nights, but were having so much fun, Raul let us stay one more night since the house was empty for 1 more day. We absolutely loved this trip and will definitely be back again! We’ve already told so many friends and family about the house and the fishing. Thank you Raul for one of the best birthdays ever!

Clean and great for fishing trip

Even has a private ramp. Was a little concerned with neighborhood but had no problems. Great boat storage and good security. Perfect for a fishing trip. Not the Ritz at all but definitely as advertised and expected. The owner accommodating. Closest Zapata accommodations to the State Oark. We will come back.

Zapata get away great place

Raul's Bassmans Lodging once again was our home base for our annual September cast and blast combination bass fishing and dove hunting excursion to Zapata. It is comfortable and clean, and secure behind a locked gate. Raul keeps an eye on the place to make sure we have everything we need for an enjoyable stay. We'll be back next year.

Perfect spot for falcon

I was a little hesitant about heading to falcon with security being a issue, however I was pleasantly surprised as to how safe and secure we felt at this property. I felt so safe here I never covered the boat or took anything out at night, a few nights I used the locker bar but the last few nights I just locked each compartment lid. Took daytime naps with the electronics still on. Not only is it secure it's perfect in every way, close to the ramp (like 6 mins away) , removed from the town of zapata a perfect distance while easily allowing quick trips into town if needed. Literally right next to a tackle shop. Raul the owner is super nice and helpful with any and everything including fishing spots. The fishing was great we stayed for 4 days and totally lost count in the fish. The covered parking is awesome and close to the door of the home. The home has cameras and motion activated lights all around it. Nice Spanish family right across the street which seem to keep a eye on things, also with a large lot in front of the home enabling quick and easy backup access for your rig. When I go back to fish falcon I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.

First time to Falcon

Very nice accommodations for a fishin' lodge. Clean, well kept and maintained with all the basic essentials. Just tremendous value for the money. Raul, the owner, was awesome and can even fish a little ; ) You need something, he'll be there to help. As far as the fishing, which Raul helped out with, was pretty much epic. 5 guys, 2 boats, fished 6 days, caught almost 600 fish up to 8lbs 13oz. Had to wade through literally hundreds of dinks but managed to eke 10-12 fish 3 1/2 - 6 1/2lbs every day. We'll be back...Jeff M

Property was clean and well maintained. Everything you needed was provided and owner checked in during our stay to make sure we were satisfied or needed anything. Will stay here every time I come to Zapata. Highly recommend this facility.

Since our favorite past time is Fishing, we spent a great deal of time looking for the perfect lake and house. Having Fished the lake for over 20yrs and knowing that Falcon Lake is the best bass fishing lake in Texas, arguably in the nation, we knew Falcon Lake is where we wanted to be! The lake and town are so peaceful and the lake so serene without all the hustle of jet skis, wake boards, or the traffic of the big cities. This lake is a great place to get away to fish, relax, and make great memories.

We have devoted a great deal of time in making it have the comforts of a family home and to be a relaxing perfect get away for you on Falcon Lake in Zapata Texas! Although the house is only 5 minutes away from the county boat ramp, we also offer a private boat ramp(depends on water levels) that guarantees you’ll be on the water in no time. And, just 30 minutes from the state park.
So don't just bring the guys for a fishing trip bring your family and rest assured y'all will have all the comforts of your home in our home. This is our home that we have decided to share with you.
