The Host was quite a challenge - (1) Host said that copies of passports of all occupants was required; I pushed back as that is non standard; host claimed it was a condo requirement; not true since we have stayed at this condo building for years, and no such requirement was placed on those stays nor on friends staying in a separate unit during this same time period; and front desk concierge confirmed that no passports are required for renters. (2) Host said occupants would be responsible for electric; this was confirmed with the front desk concierge as not correct for short term rentals.(3) Host wanted to correspond via WhatsApp rather than via the VRBO app; again I pushed back on such requirement. VRBO customer service should read the correspondence from this host since it was a poor experience.The rental unit itself is subpar -(1) Unit is on first floor at bottom of an open common staircase so it has no privacy, and also next to a bar that allows smoking, so it is loud/smelly.(2) Upon our arrival, the hot water was turned off for entire Unit; see correspondence on VRBO app with Host; Building maintenance came to Unit and upon turning on hot water, a leak was spraying out from the second bathroom sink; Maintence was in the Unit a good part of the day fixing leak; this should have been fixed prior to checkin.(3) Many light switches and electrical outlets were not in working order.(4) Kitchen and it's cooking supplies were quite outdated which made cooking difficult.
