Villa Rosa stay

Fantastic property, was perfect for us all and in a beautiful setting. Loved having the boat, bikes, kayaks and games. We really enjoyed our stay. Bob was very friendly and helpful too. Would love to return sometime.

A fabulous property in a fabulous location. We went with our children and grandchildren so a real age range but this area was perfect for us all. The house was great but perhaps a stair gate would be useful as our 1 year old grand-daughter was obsessed with trying to get to the pool so we had to keep the pool door shut! We loved the house overall it was well equipped and has a fabulous barbecue which the boys loved - so we had several meals in the garden! There are plenty of little restaurants and cafes along the road in front of the house - so that was great too! A must is to take a water taxi to Moro Beach, La Banya and of course to the old town or Korcula - all absolutely stunning! We would definitely go back to the house again and would highly recommend it! Thanks to the hosts who were great at communicating and to Bob the neighbour who was very helpful too!

Our experience in Viganj was magnificent! The house was beautiful and a great location for meeting kind, local people. The market couldn’t be closer, the sea cleaner, or the atmosphere more restful.

Beautiful location.

The house and outside areas are excellent and as described. Having access to the bikes and canoes made the holiday with everyone enjoying them daily. The village is very pretty and the locals friendly hoŵever when visiting in October all bar one restaurant/bar was closed (orebic provided more that were open). I'd definitely recommend both the area and the villa.

Beautifully renovated villa perfect for our two families

Spreading over three levels, with lovely outdoor areas in front of and behind the house, the villa enabled our group to spread out. The covered seating adjacent the pool offered welcome afternoon shade. Although we only cooked the occasional breakfast, the kitchen was well equipped. It was great being handy to the shop for cold drinks, and to the wharf for jumping in for a dip.

Great summer destination

Viganj is a perfect destination for an active and relaxing summer holiday. The old stone house was beautifully restored by the owners. We have had a few hiccups with a dishwasher and a water boiler in the kitchen. The property manager Bozo/Bob was fantastic and very helpful. He was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved biking, windsurfing and kayaking during our stay.

Great vacation in Viganj

We had a wonderful stay at the villa, the village was beautiful and the house and pool were lovely. The kitchen was well stocked and the rooms were great as well. Bozo was very helpful and always there if we needed advice or help or anything! The only thing was that there was a strange smell, a bit like sewage that appeared at some hours during the day and was stronger in the top rooms and sometimes outside as well. Other than that we had a wonderful stay, thank you so much!

Summer holiday with friends

We were a group of 10 with adult children. The house was in a great location. A quiet road in front of the house where people walk/cycle up and down. Supermarket and bakery a stones throw away and restaurants / ferry to Korcula very nearby. Wind surfing lessons were enjoyed by the children. You really don’t need a car. Use of bikes and kayaks was a bonus.

Lovely house in an incredible location

We had a really good time in the house. It’s beautiful and the location couldn’t be better. We made good use of the kayaks, table tennis and plentiful space. There were 8 of us though the house could sleep more. Beds really comfortable, air con worked well and lots of different spaces to sit and chill out. A few nice restaurants within walking distance plus bakery and small shop of doorstep made the stay really easy - we did a trip to a supermarket 10 min ago away to do a bigger shop. Water taxi is brilliant - a few euros to go to beautiful korcula old town and back. Sally was very responsive whenever we got in touch. Would definitely go back

Great holiday in a lovely location

We had a great family holiday at Villa Rosa. The property is in a wonderful location, has an excellent layout and stunning views from the front and back. The pool and patios are ideal. Everything you will need is in walking distance - a little shop, cafes and water sports. Bob, the house manager, is friendly. The smaller details which make a difference could be significantly improved. These would include having a working hob, a fully equipped kitchen, a clean fridge and oven, maintained sports equipment (the majority of kit needs attention to be usable), working side lights by the bed and a handbook for the house. Once the property has had a bit more attention, we would wholeheartedly recommend this as a perfect holiday destination.

Lovely break in a beautiful setting

We had a lovely stay here, we went as a family of 8 with 2 children with us. The villa is beautiful and the outside area is great. Its a fabulous location for restaurants and water sports. I would say the pool isn't child/ non swimmer friendly as there is no shallow end and it is too deep to stand up anywhere. Also parking at the property was a bit of an issue as there was only 1 spot outside the villa and the rest of the parking was up steep steps, not ideal when your carrying kids etc. Bob was great, very friendly and sorted any issues we had immediately. I would also say that for the price we paid it would of been nice to have a few little extra touches... like maybe beach towels, better stocked kitchen etc. But as I said overall it was lovely and we had a wonderful week away.

Restored Sea Captains House - Viganj

Located in a stunningly beautiful area with lots of amenities nearby. The recommendation for Ivica, the local water taxi, was brilliant and he was so helpful and friendly. We did not need a car to travel around and used the Catamarans but also the little community boat which travelled to and from Korcula several times a day. Great for early morning breakfast before it got too hot. Great location if you enjoy water sports and the sea was wonderful to swim in literally falling out of the house and straight in. The pool area at the back of the house was lovely also but be aware there is no shallow end for less confident or non-swimmers. We did have a guest who has mobility issues with us as a last minute guest and they did find the stairs very steep to climb. We had a lovely cleaner who came in mid week and kindly changed all the linen, towels and bathrooms which was a welcome extra we were not expecting. We did have several issues with the bikes and some maintenance in the house during our stay but Sally was quick to reply when needed and helpful. Thanks Sally for all of the suggestions of places to go also.

Magical town and well-situated villa

Overall, we had a great stay and would return. Viganj is a true traveler’s paradise with a laid-back and lively vibe without being crowded. The beachfront street right in front of the house is full of cyclists, runners, beach-goers, and water-sport enthusiasts. The extra amenities were used daily — the kids in our group rode around town on the bikes all day and the kayaks were fun to take out. The villa has been nicely restored and has kept the original character. Although we would be happy to return, there are a few things that were not as smooth as we hoped. Some areas the cleanliness was not ideal - e.g., footprints on the dining table, mold in the external ice maker, some worn/stained linens, and dirty first floor tiles (in fairness, after “living” with them for a week they seem to be an unsealed natural stone that very hard to clean -they probably need to be stripped and sealed). The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and nicely renovated. Some of the AC units worked great and some did not. We checked in during a heat wave and it took the house a day to cool down. Communication was a bit awkward at times. Sally, her daughter Libby, and property manager Bojo were all involved. For instance, we did not have hot water in the kitchen initially, but which ended up being because it was recently installed. No one seemed to know/communicate this. However, Libby was always super responsive to inquires. The location is perfect and overall the house lovely, however.

Wonderful family holiday house

This is the second time I’ve reviewed this house as we were also here last year. After a wonderful week then, we rebooked for this year as we loved it so much. Viganj is a great place for families with teens. Lots of water sports, a couple of fun bars and restaurants, good mini supermarkets, bakery, etc and most importantly fabulous water sports. You don’t need a car when you’re here and this time we took the ferry from Split so we never hired a car at all. Instead we hired a power boat for bay hopping on some days, which was lovely. Korcula Town is a delight and easy to get to by ferry, water taxi or your own powerboat So full marks for location. The house is super and perfect for the 10 of us - 4 oldies plus terms and 21yr olds. There’s a super pool which is well kept, though it’s very deep so I wouldn’t recommend for small children. There’s a lovely terrace out the back with bbq and large square table so we ate most meals there. The house is well equipped and well set up with excellent oven, decent tv if you need it (we never did) dishwasher etc. We had a couple of niggles this year with one of the loos and the hob, but I know they’re being fixed and all will be fine shortly. The owners are English and very easy to communicate with. They respond v quickly if any issues and as they use the house themselves they care about it - you’re not dealing with a faceless company. So we loved it and I’m certain we’ll go back.

Family trip for Son’s 30th Birthday

As soon as I saw this listing on line I knew it was perfect for our family of 8 and we had a wonderful stay at Villa Rosa in Viganj. The villa is a wonderful old house overlooking the sea, which is only a few steps from the villa’s front gate, perfect for a morning dip. The pool area is beautiful getting full sun all day with loungers for everyone and a lovely seating area by the bbq which we made full use of. The paddle board and kayaks had several outings as did the bikes, enough for the whole group. The local area is beautiful, a flat easy walk to a couple of great restaurants, the K2 Bar, a lovely ice cream shop and the kitesurfing centre. The supermarket (big enough for all essentials, a larger one is a bike ride away) and bakery are 1 minute from the villa. The water taxi picks up by the supermarket and the owner is very helpful and easy to contact, he took us over to the nearby island of Korcula, well worth a visit or two. Very beautiful architecture, many lovely restaurants and a craft beer pub. The people were all so welcoming and friendly everywhere we went. We also spent a day at La Banya Beach club, again well worth a visit the meal we had in the restaurant was excellent. Couldn’t recommend Villa Rosa and it’s owners enough, Sally was extremely helpful answering my (many!) questions and giving me local contact numbers for cabs, water taxi and cake maker! Bob the house manager was so friendly and helpful. Book you won’t be disappointed, we will be back!

Most beautiful stay at the Captain‘s house

Wir waren 7 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder und hatten einen ganz wunderbaren Aufenthalt im Captain‘s house. Sally und ihr Mann haben das alte Gebäude mit viel Liebe und Gespür für seinen Geist renoviert und eingerichtet. Alles ist luftig, schön und persönlich, ohne zu privat zu wirken. Allein die Küche könnte für den Preis und die Anzahl an Menschen, die dort zusammen wohnen und bekocht werden wollen, etwas besser ausgestattet sein. Die Möglichkeit, entweder innerhalb von 2 Minuten in den Pool oder innerhalb von 5 Minuten ins Meer zu springen, ist unbezahlbar. Für’s Meer muss man nur über die so gut wie unbefahrene kleine Straße vorm Haus gehen, wo ein paar kleine Boote liegen und man entweder über die Kiesel ins Meer laufen oder vom Pier springen kann. Der ganze Ort ist entspannt mit netter Camper- und Surfer Crowd, kein Touristen- und Souvenieroverkill. Die Terrasse mit Sofas und Grill hinter der Küche ist großzügig und lädt (mehr als auf den Fotos, finde ich) zum Lesen, gemeinsamen Essen und Verweilen ein. Wir hatten genug Platz zusammen und auch genug Platz, uns mal ein wenig aus dem Weg zu gehen. Was wir kaum wollten, weil alles so schön war, dass die Laune immer gut war.

Location location location

Stunning spot on the waterfront in beautiful viganj . Bedrooms comfortable and with added aircon a bonus . Pool area great for all and large enough to find your own spot for some peace and downtime too . We particularly liked the front of the house and the patio garden for dinners and drinks - to have some lights set up over the table or some recharge lamps would have made this perfect . Having bikes to roam about the village as part of the property is a treat . My only observation is that the kitchen is very tired and could do with a revamp and some new pots and pans and crockery as this is a large family rental I believe the kitchen needs to work harder and be a Little more user friendly We would stay again and loved our time there with our family

Une belle maison à rafraichir

Très bel emplacement, grande maison les pieds dans l'eau avec en plus une piscine très agréable. Gros bémol sur l'état des installations (équipements cuisine, literie, salle de bains) qui nécessiteraient d'être rénovés au vu du tarif pratiqué.

Perfect location & villa

We absolutely loved our stay in Viganj. The villa is wonderful, with good sized bedrooms, a large, comfy kitchen/dining/living area along with shutters and air conditioning to keep cool. We found ourselves spending most time by the pool, in the large shaded and relaxing seating area or stepping out the front gate to swim in the sea. A mini supermarket is within 5mins walk (also where the water taxi departs), and multiple restaurants are within easy, flat walking distance. We also enjoyed using the bicycles and kayaks to explore. As 2 families with young adult children, the location and villa were perfect.

A very special villa

This is a very special villa in a stunning location with everything on your doorstep. Very well equipped and spacious with a beautiful pool area. Loved not hiring a car and going everywhere by boat, kayak, bike or walking. Great night trip to Korcula to watch the Sword Dance. Highlight was a day out on Ivica’s Watertaxi, Island hopping, swimming, feeding deer and catching Octopus. It was the perfect holiday!

Loved Villa Rosa and Viganj

Lovely property in a great location. Bob was very helpful with any information we wanted and even took us out on his boat to a great restaurant with delicious food and we swam in the cove. An idyllic peaceful area but with restaurants/bars close by and a supermarket only 200 meters away! A word of advice though, don't go for the spit roast lamb at restaurant Montun, it's almost turned me vegetarian!! We all had a fabulous holiday and will definitely be back! Thank you!

Exactly what it said on the tin.

We had a delightful stay in Viganj, the house lived up to expectations, it is beautifully proportioned and well equipped - the weather was gorgeous and although almost everything was either closed or closing for the end of the season, we found plenty of places to go and plenty of places to see. I SLAUGHTERED my partner at table tennis, cards, kayaking and hiking (can you slaughter someone at kayaking? no matter, he'll never read this) and we had friends over for BBQ's and lazy lunches - Bojo was really helpful and turned up as if by magic exactly when we needed him... We loved the coastline and the sunsets and would be happy to book this place again - We would, however, love to silence the 7am alarm call from the bell tower.....and some new chopping boards and a few feather pillows for princesses like me wouldn't go amiss!

After spending time searching around different locations in Croatia, we stumbled upon the small village of Viganj and instantly fell in love with its unique rustic charm. We viewed many different sites in the area until we found the soon to be Villa Rosa and embarked on the journey of resurrecting the ruin to becoming a welcoming family home. Originally the villa was built approximately 300 years ago by a sea captain. The historic charm of the villa and village influenced us into ensuring that we kept to the true Dalmatian background when restoring the house into what it is now. We bought the house in 2004 and after 4 years of renovations we have carefully retained the original features but also offer a modern elegance.

Villa Rosa is a fantastic seafront location and situated ideally in the heart of Viganj.
The property is suited for 2 families or large groups and perfect for relaxing and listening to the waves. Close enough to find more live on the Island of Korcula by foot ferry or private speedboat ( which we can arrange)

Viganj is a small tourist place on the western part of the Peljesac peninsula, only 8km from Orebic.It is said that Viganj is a botanical garden in itself, rich with flowers and bushes brought as gifts by seamen to their beloved wives from their journeys. The population has long been involved in agriculture, fishing and, more recently, tourism.
Visit historical sites such as: the St. Ivan church (located on an eponymous hill and offers a beautiful view of the Peljesac canal), St. Ilija hill and the Nakrana village.
Viganj is rich with pebble beaches and is very popular among sports and active vacation fans, especially those who enjoy water activities (windsurfing, sailing, diving…).
