Nice outdoor patio

The cabin was exactly like the pictures showed. It worked out perfectly for our family with just enough room to spread out, and with a large main area that we could hang out together comfortably. We took advantage of the spacious patio and enjoyed a fire each night. I would definitely stay again.

Refreshing, loved the changing colorful season.

We had an incredible time at this cabin. I was a little worried prior to check in that we would forget items we would need. Once there, we found EVERYTHING! The cleaning lady was very friendly, we got there two hours early, she was hard at work. She told us of things to do in the area. The cabin was so beautiful, I took pictures to dream about building one just like it in Indiana. The front porch is perfect for relaxing, or gathering with friends. Plenty of room, not once did I feel crowded like in other places I have stayed. The kids had a blast with all the inside/outside games. I wish we could have stayed longer. Hopefully one day we can stay again. I give this cabin a 10, highly recommended!

The Heart of Paradise

Everything was great, everyone felt comfortable and safe. Everything we needed was there including shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap. We cooked out and used the fire pit, both were great. Everything was clean. We went floating and that was very close. Anything we needed was very close, we wanted for nothing. Highly recommend staying there.

Beautiful Vacation

This cabin was very spacious and clean. We asked Justin to not use fragrance products in the cleaning, and he wonderfully took care of us. The covered patio area is a great place to hang out.

Guys Weekend

5 adult men rented the cabin as a base for doing some hiking in the nearby state park and spending an afternoon at the Johnson Shut Ins. The cabin was perfect for our needs. We especially enjoyed the large and very nice showerhead. It was very refreshing after a long day of hiking.

Good for a family

The house has a LOT of space. You will definitely have enough room for a family. The covered front porch is great. There are a lot of windows so that you can get fresh air in the house. We liked the location, as it's convenient for visiting several state parks in the area. The house is showing its age and would benefit from several updates and repairs.

Short stay

There was a little bit of communication issues between myself and the homeowner/cabin. I tried to change dates. It took me five messages to the owner and me calling VRBO before I got ahold of somebody to change the rental date. It was also the morning of my reservation and I had to call and get the code because by 9 a.m. it still wasn't emailed and I was starting to get worried with travel time. There was a few things broken around the cabin and the bed could have been updated. Very old hard bed, the knob was broke off the kitchen sink, and the door frame came off the door as we opened it. The furniture on the front porch had straps missing in the seat so you sank through holes and the cushions were were very stained . Cabin needs a little updating.

Perfect little getaway

We really enjoyed this cabin and would definitely stay again. We had 4 adults and 2 children and it couldn't have been better. Cabin was clean and we loved the large covered porch.

Pleasant Stay!!

My family and I had a wonderful time!! We weren't too terribly far from the Black River(5-10 miles) which was great. The Rental was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed the front porch alot. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Glamping (Glamorous Camping) at its best.

My sister and I wanted to take our families to Johnson's Shut-ins, Elephant Rock, and floating on the Black River without camping in a tent. The Hillside Cabins were the perfect solution. Everything was thought of and everyone agreed the cabins were perfect. Originally we reserved Cabin #1, but there was a double booking error which the owner, Justin, immediately resolved by offering our group the two smaller cabins, #2 & #3. Looking back it was a blessing in disguise. We preferred the woody seclusion further up the hill. We were only 30 minutes from the State Parks we wanted to visit and 5 minutes from Jeff's Canoe Rental in the Black River so everything was convenient. We would definitely reserve Cabins 2 & 3 again without hesitation.

Happy Hikers Haven

We very much enjoyed the comforts and convenience of this property. All of our needs were met during our weeklong Thanksgiving holiday. The weather was terrific and enabled us to enjoy the patio and BBQ. The location was close to many beautiful area's in Missouri. We had a great time discovering the many hiking miles available. Coming back to our home in the evening to recharge for the next day was a perfect ending, even with a great sunset! The property was clean and tidy. Justin was a joy to work with during our entire visit. We both agreed that we would do this again! Thank you for the opportunity for enabling us to enjoy Missouri.

Great House

We had a great time at the house. Stayed up all night on the covered porch, playing games and enjoying the fire pit. The house is clean and had everything we needed. The people in town are great.

Perfect for what we needed it for.

We met there with another couple we hadn't seen for years, and were looking for a private, but roomy place where we could stay up late visiting, laughing, playing games, etc. without disturbing others. This place was clean (like new), very roomy living-room/kitchen area, a well-stocked kitchen, nice bedroom and bathroom linens, good beds, and a great covered porch where we could sit outside in comfort, even when it rained. It's an earth home, so one bedroom didn't have windows, and that's the only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars. (But it had air-conditioner.) We loved it! Will probably go there again. It's located in a beautiful area, within an easy drive to Elephant Rocks and Ironton. Thank you so much for a perfect place for us to get together with our friends!

Great Place to Stay for Dual Sport Motorcycle Riding

My dad and I came down from Michigan to spend a week riding dual sport motorcycles on the roads around the Annapolis area. We had a great time. The house was everything we needed and was in a great location for our activities. The owner was very helpful and easy to get a hold of. The locals and local businesses were friendly and welcoming.
