Nice location. Short drive to beaches. Nice, spacious deck and nice furniture. Ocean view from deck is as shown on VRBO. The traffic noise while on the deck could be heard, but not from inside the unit. Owners very nice and good communicators.

2 night stay

The Positives - Hosts were very responsive and provided a nice welcome basket of snacks/waters/wine. Unit is roomy and was clean. Location in Montara was convenient for my events in Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. Check in and check out very easy with lock box by door.Negatives - The kitchen isn't really a kitchen, just a corner of living room with microwave, small refrigerator and nice paper supplies, coffee maker. However no sink, only sink is in the bathroom. The unit is very close to Highway one so there is traffic noise. Also, my second night was quite loud with noise from the rest of the house (shares common walls and is under a bathroom and maybe bedroom?) I could hear conversations, TV, toilet flushing etc. And as noted in earlier review, driveway/walkway to unit is uneven and gravel, and pretty dark at night until the unit's porch light kicks on.

Decent size, comfortable bed, nice deck. Had everything we needed. Couch was a little uncomfortable and it would have been helpful to have a sink other than the bathroom sink to rinse dishes. There was a mini fridge, coffee supplies, and a microwave. The host provided chilled wine and snacks for our arrival which was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful little one bedroom with private enterance

The one bedroom was very well located, had beautiful views of the ocean, nice outdoor fire pit, and a very responsive host. The mattress is a bit soft with uneven firmness and the kitchen is just a fridge, micro wave, and coffee pot.

Beautiful views and great location

This was a great place for a long weekend getaway. Located between Pacifica and Half Moon Bay everything is within a reasonable distance. Silvia and James were great hosts. Being welcomed with a bottle of wine and having snacks available is a nice touch. One specific I'd like to mention is the walkway to the entrance is loose rock and stepping stones so if you walk with a cane like me you need to take it slow. Looking forward to going back.

Exceptional Hosting

The property was clean with a large comfortable deck for enjoying the sun and ocean view. The property was well stocked with anything a person would need to have a relaxing vacation. The hosts checked in a few times to ask if I needed anything, which I didn’t because it was so well stocked…I would most definitely stay with Sylvia and James again in the future!

A relaxing retreat.

It was our anniversary and we wanted to just relax with our pup. The apartment was perfect. The deck was wonderful. We all enjoyed being there. I would say the pictures don’t do the place justice. Thank you.

We picked this property based on excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. The apartment was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Nightime sleeping was comfortable and quiet. Good resauants are a few minutes away by car and it is easy to find the property. The communication from the hosts provided everything we needed to know. This is a place we could feel good about returning for another visit.

Coastal Bay Oasis

My daughter and I were in California for my other daughter’s wedding. We decided a trip up the coast would be fun. I’m so glad we choose this lovely apartment. From the chilled wine and snacks waiting for us upon arrival, to the comfy bed & pillows, ample towels, beautiful view and charming fireplace (Midwesterner’s are sadly unaware that it gets chilly in Northern CA in June!!), it was everything we could ask for and more!

Pleasant Costal Area on Pacific Ocean

Our stay in Montara at the property of James and Silvia was very pleasant. Quiet Clean Interesting artwork It was also close to Sam's Chowder House, a very nice seafood restaurant. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay on the Half Moon Bay area. Convenient too . . . The drive to San Francisco Airport was easy even though when you are at the property, you have no sense that you are anywhere near a major airport. Thank you! Gary

There were a lot of nice, homey touches that were well beyond what most hosts do. There were no issues and we enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic View and Location!

Great time spent at a really great place! The view is fantastic! We had a little trouble finding it in the dark, but Silvia came out and met us. The rest of the weekend went smooth. Highly recommend!

My wife Silvia and I (James) have had the great fortune to be able to raise our two kids (Derek and Fasha) in such a beautiful place in the world. Now that they have grown and are about the business of making their own lives we decided to share our good fortune with others.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

We originally rented this house from Silvia's father when he temporarily left the medical field to serve as the country administrator of Costa Rica for the Peace Corps. Following he did a similar job in Nicaragua. After a five year hiatus he and his wife decided to settle in Denver Colorado. We were delighted buy this ocean view house and "take it off their hands".

A 3 minute walk across the street brings you to Montara Lighthouse with breath taking view of the rugged coast and crashing sea. It also has a youth hostel and a rentable space for events and such. Follow the trail you can you can visit both a beautiful sand beach and rocky tide pool area.
If nature is your thing then you be delighted with the many trials for hiking and biking. If it's surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing,
