Gunpowder house was perfect for us, the house was clean, comfortable and well equipped, the view was lovely. The house stands on its own but was close to the village and had easy access to Whitby and the areas north of Whitby which we wanted to explore.

We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay at this lovely cottage, and we’ve booked to go

We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay at this lovely cottage, and we’ve booked to go back next June for 4 nights .It’s spotlessly clean! The beds so comfortable and lovely bedding and huge fluffy white towels . It’s so peaceful and relaxing there !!.We explored the area walking miles every day then chilling with a glass of wine in the evening. The gardens are beautiful.The only thing I would say is that it would be even better if it had a table and chairs on the patio to sit outside and have breakfast enjoying the wonderful views .

Situated in beautiful open countryside this cottage is a welcome rear from my farming life! However I enjoy observing the fields opposite the cottage. Watch out for the barn owl flying through the garden at dusk. The buzzard looking for it's next meal!! So near to Sandsend and Whitby, fantastic location

This has been our second stay at Gunpowder House in 3 months.

This has been our second stay at Gunpowder House in 3 months. This cottage is set in an amazing rural location. The cottage itself has everything you need for a comfortable holiday and the cleanliness is exceptional. The views from the cottage are breathtaking and you can never tire of the amazing scenery. On our first stay we had a lovely welcome basket with goodies which was a lovely touch. However our second most recent stay we didn't have one  this is not a criticism was just looking forward to a basket of treats. We will certainly be making Gunpowder House one of our yearly holidays especially at Christmas. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Huge garden but not secure if your dog likes to roam. I appreciate Covid has caused many problems but it would have been nice to have had more crockery and glasses so that we could have used the dishwasher instead of constant washing up. Also, would it have been so difficult to sanitise the hairdryer between visits or at least informed the holiday maker to bring their own. I was totally unaware of this. It's a warm and comfortable cottage in a quiet location with fine views and handy for lots of walks by the coast and on the moors. Only downside is an uncomfortable settee in the living room!

Immaculate well presented cottage with all the amenities you could want and more.

Immaculate well presented cottage with all the amenities you could want and more. The cottage is spacious and so is the garden, dog friendly which was great for our German shepherd who loved the conservatory watching all the wildlife. Sandsend beach is a 5 min drive and good for walking the dog, whitby is a 10 min drive which is a lovely town and very dog friendly. There are a number of public footpaths on the doorsteps to the cottage as well. The views are lovely and it was so peaceful, I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

We had a great week at Gunpowder House.

We had a great week at Gunpowder House. Cottage is in a lovely situation, very quiet, no neighbours, bliss! We did lots of walking on the nearby coastal path and on the North York Moors and had great weather. We have already booked a return visit in the autumn.

Excellent cottage our second visit, views are spectacular, cottage spotless everything you would need for a good holiday. We enjoyed the quiet spot, but not to far from Whitby and other lovely places. Wellcome basket was great.
